West Brom fans will be wondering quite how their team have found themselves in a relegation battle at this point in the season.

Their defeat by Sheffield United was their third loss in a row and saw them plunge to the bottom of the table, three points from safety.

With just one win in their past 12, new manager Carlos Corberan will want to start picking up points fast if he is going to turn their season around.

Tonight's opponents Blackpool arrive at The Hawthorns buoyed by two wins on the trot, the first time they've won back-to-back matches since March.

It's fair to say, having had a cracking start to the season, Sheffield United's 2022-23 campaign has tapered off somewhat of late.

Coming into tonight's trip to Bristol City, they ended a six-game run without a win after beating struggling West Brom on Saturday.

They take on a Robins side who have won just twice in their past 10 Championship games and were forced to settle for a draw against Swansea at the weekend, having initially taken the lead.

Can the Blades stabilise their season and keep parity with the top three by capping off a second win in a row?

  6. Preston host in-form Swanseapublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    Preston v Swansea (19:45 GMT)

Swansea's 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Saturday was later blamed by manager Russell Martin on a hangover from the players' celebrations after their history-making win in the South Wales derby the week before.

Still, the Swans make the trip up north to Preston on a run that's produced only one defeat in their past eight matches, to push them up into the play-off places.

Preston's form has been stuttering of late and they waited until stoppage time to get the winner against Middlesbrough in their last outing.

The win will have at least provided a slight boost after their humbling 4-2 defeat to Blackpool in the west Lancashire derby.

  7. Luton a chance for Reading to get back on track?published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

    Luton v Reading (19:45 GMT)

Reading started the season well, surpassing most people's expectations, with boss Paul Ince leading them to some memorable wins this term.

However Saturday's defeat by Burnley, courtesy of Anass Zanroury's 90th-minute winner for the Clarets, dropped them down to 11th in the Championship table.

That defeat was their fourth in five matches and they make the short trip to Luton tonight to face a Hatters side who can't seem to hold on to a lead.

Nathan Jones' side have lost more points from winning positions than any other team in the second tier this term.

Meanwhile, Hull are set to appoint Liam Rosenior as their new head coach.

BBC Radio Humberside reports the 38-year-old has agreed a deal to take over at the Championship club, and will sign a contract on Wednesday.

He spent five seasons with the Tigers as a player between 2010 and 2015 and will replace Shota Arveladze, after the Georgian was sacked in September.

Rosenior started the season in interim charge of Derby but this will be his first permanent managerial role.

He is expected to be at Hull's game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, with his first game in charge likely to come at Millwall on Saturday.

  10. Can Carrick turn it around at Boro?published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2022

Middlesbrough take on Hull tonight off the back of new boss Michael Carrick's defeat in his first match in charge of the club on Saturday.

Hull come into the match having won two of their past three games in the Championship yet they have conceded 32 goals this term, more than any other team in the division.

Boro don't have a great record at the MKM Stadium, having won just twice from their past 14 league visits there.

The last boss to lose their first two games in charge of Middlesbrough? Gordon Strachan in 2009.
