Victor Osimhen's wonderful goal against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday extended Napoli's winning run to 11 games, while they are unbeaten in all 15 outings this season.

Paris St-Germain are the only other team across Europe's top five leagues yet to lose in any competition.

Viktoria Plzen are the other side yet to get off the mark in this season's Champions League. The Czech club got a real short straw in Group C, along with heavy-hitters Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Barcelona.

They are currently 3-0 down at the San Siro.

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti is adamant there is no chance of his side taking Rangers lightly as he aims to secure top spot in the group.

"I would like to stress that thinking that we are going up against an easy team and will have an easy game is a mistake we will definitely not make," he said on Tuesday. "Our goal is to give our best and show that we have the mindset and DNA to be champions.

"In every game we try to build on our momentum and show all of our qualities. If we win it could prove to be pivotal ahead of going to Liverpool."

Giovanni van Bronckhorst knows his side will have to be super disciplined to have any chance.

"Game management is very important against a fast attacking team with quality all over the pitch," added the Rangers manager yesterday. "We have to be defensively solid and attack well in our moments in possession.

"If you come here and defend for 90 minutes, it’s waiting for the damage to be done. We have to be solid but take our moments to be dangerous. We want to start well and make sure we’re still in the game in the second half.

"We need to start strong, it is really important. A goal can always happen but it is how we react."

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been calling on his players to show no fear.

"There’s been pressure, especially in the Champions League which is really hard because of the opposition, but the best thing is to get a good result and that is what we want to achieve in a difficult stadium against a really good team," he said at yesterday's media conference.

"You always need character, especially in moments like this where we’ve come off a draw at the weekend.

"We have to take into the account the strong opposition we are playing but we have to be there and not be fearful.

"If we reach the level we can reach, we’ll see at the end of the game if we have a positive result."

The suggestion here is that Rangers may go with a back four, with James Sands as a deep midfielder. That would likely mean Scott Wright and Ryan Kent wide of a four, with Malik Tillman off Alfredo Morelos.

That would be a bold approach from Giovanni van Bronckhorst - some might even say reckless - but the Rangers manager did say on Tuesday that sitting deep for 90 minutes would merely delay the inevitable.

I guess the good news for Rangers is that Napoli have rested some of their big dogs following a 1-0 win away to Roma on Sunday.

Zielinski, Lozano, Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia are among the subs tonight.

Defenders Juan Jesus and Olivera also drop out, with Ostigard and Mario Rui their replacements.

Politano, Simeone and Raspadori make up the front three and Elmas is added to the midfield.

It should be noted that all of the guys coming in are internationals.

Following Saturday's disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Livingston, Rangers make four changes.

James Sands, Ridvan Yilmaz, Scott Wright and Alfredo Morelos come in, with Borna Barisic, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Antonio Colak dropping to the bench.

So this is the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The place where the wee man kicked a ball. And the place where a bruised Rangers must try and avoid defeat to have any realistic hope of prolonging their European campaign.

Even empty, 90 minutes before kick off, there is a sense that this is a proper football ground. Somewhere where things have happened. It won't be full - around 38,000 are expected - but there will still be a din.

The Argentine legend was at the peak of his considerable powers when he played for Napoli from 1984-91, winning two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, one Supercoppa and the Uefa Cup.

Following his death in late 2020, the city council approved a change of stadium name in his honour.

The club retired his famous no.10 jersey in 2000.

Giacomo Raspadori leads the way with four of those, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa each have three assists.

Rangers have conceded 16 goals in their four group outings and a record 7-1 home defeat from Liverpool last time seems to have knocked the stuffing out of the men from Govan.

Since that humbling at Ibrox, they have eked past Motherwell and Dundee in less than convincing fashion before toiling to a home draw with Livingston on Saturday.
