    Reading 0-0 Coventry

Coventry oh so close to the opening goal!

Michael Rose rises at the near post and sends a header goalwards, only to see it come back off the frame of the goal.

    We're getting closer!

  2. A miserable start to Martin's Norwich reunionpublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Swansea 0-1 Norwich

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

Jason Levien, one of Swansea City's American co-owners, is making a rare appearance at the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon.

Russell Martin is hoping to impress, particularly as his former club Norwich City are in town.

Martin is a Canaries legend, having won three promotions during nine years at Carrow Road, but this is a first reunion with Norwich since he was shown the door by Daniel Farke in 2018.

Swansea's head coach said in his pre-match press conference he did not know how it would feel to face Norwich - but it is safe to assume he is not enjoying it so far.

Swansea limped out of the blocks and trail to Teemu Pukki's early goal.

  3. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Huddersfield

The home side have made a bright start as they look for a win that could send them top of the table.

Huddersfield centre-back Tom Lees makes a fine block to deny the Blades the opener.

The first goal of the 15:00 GMT games has come at Blundell Park where Brendan Kiernan has glanced home John McAtee's cross to put Grimsby 1-0 up against Tranmere.

Not a good start for Rovers who are winless in seven games and have failed to score in four of their last five.

  5. goal

GOAL: Stoke 0-1 Cardiffpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Ryan Wintle (6 mins)

Another early goal as the Championship returns and this time it's Cardiff on the scoresheet!

It's a nice move from the Bluebirds which sees Gavin Whyte collect a cross-field pass and pull it back to the edge of the area where Ryan Wintle is arriving to slot it nicely past Jack Bonham.

Top goal from Cardiff who have had plenty of problems finding the net this season - they are the league's lowest scorers.

Bad start for Alex Neil's Stoke.

    Millwall 0-0 Wigan

End to end stuff at The Den.

Mason Bennett shoots as Millwall go on the attack this time, but his low strike is well gathered by Wigan goalkeeper Jamie Jones.

  7. Postpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Blackpool 0-0 Birmingham

Birmingham get the first chance of the game at Blackpool.

Maxime Colin fires wide of the mark from the edge of the Seasiders' box.

  8. Postpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Millwall 0-0 Wigan

Wigan have started well in Kolo Toure's first game in charge of the club.

James McClean puts a cross into the Millwall box which is chested goalbound by Nathan Broadhead with George Long making a save.

  9. goal

GOAL: Swansea 0-1 Norwichpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Teemu Pukki (1 min)

    Lightning start for Norwich!

Finland striker Teemu Pukki has had to watch the World Cup at home with his country not qualifying and he's clearly missed being on the pitch!

He had an opening in the opening seconds which was smuggled behind for a corner by Swansea, but from the resulting set-piece there's a flick-on at the near-post and Pukki is there at the far to finish from close-range.

No signs of rust for the Canaries!

    Chilly day for it.

Stevenage warm upImage source, Rex Features

As we've just heard from Calvin, with Leyton Orient’s game off due to the weather, Stevenage can close the gap on the leaders with victory at home to promotion-chasing Mansfield, another of Steve Evans’ previous teams.

Second-bottom Colchester are the only side in the bottom-six in action and they’ll be looking to climb out of the drop-zone with a result at Sutton.

In the other games to beat the weather Grimsby welcome Tranmere, Doncaster head to Newport and Swindon host AFC Wimbledon.

The fixtures to fall foul of the weather were: Carlisle v Barrow; Crewe v Leyton Orient; Rochdale v Stockport; Salford v Walsall and Harrogate v Northampton.

  12. League Two game of the daypublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Stevenage v Mansfield (15:00 GMT)

    Calvin Andrew
Ex-Rochdale, Mansfield and Port Vale forward on Squad Goals

Steve Evans’ Stevenage side are looking to close a five-point gap with leaders Leyton Orient, who’s own game has been postponed with all this bad weather.

And after dismantling Barrow 5-0 last weekend, they face The Stags in top form.

Mansfield sit in that final play-off position of seventh, trailing Boro by 10 points.

They come into this in good spirits after coming from behind to beat Colchester 2-1 with a late, late Lucas Akins header to steal all three points.

Stevenage have won more points at home than any other League Two team, so it’ll certainly be a tough test for Nigel Clough’s side

  13. League One half-timespublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    #bbcefl

    • James Collins' header after only nine minutes is all that separates the sides as Derby lead Burton at the Pirelli. The Rams are fifth in the live league table but another goal would take them level with Barnsley, who are out of action.
    • Clear goalscoring chances have been at a premium at the New Lawn where Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham remain goalless at the break. Predictably Josh March and Alfie May seem the most threatening for their respective sides.
  14. League One game of the daypublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

Exeter v Sheff Wed (15:00 GMT)

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    Presenter, Squad Goals

Gary Caldwell’s Exeter come into this with only one win in their last five games.

A disappointing draw to bottom of the table Morecambe in their last outing at least stopped any possibility of a third defeat in a row.

Javani Brown, Jay Stansfield and Sam Nombe share 25 goals between them, so they definitely have the goals in them, if they can get the service.

Their opposition however, are bang in form. Darren Moore’s Wednesday come into this eight unbeaten but weren’t quite at their best after a scoreless draw with Derby County last weekend.

Josh Windass returns to the Wednesday line-up after being left out of the last two games. He and Michael Smith have 13 goals between them.

Lee Gregory, who got 17 last campaign is on the bench too after being out. Add the creativity of Barry Bannan and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to the mix and the task is looking tricky for the Grecians, who have conceded thirteen goals in their last six home games.

There are enough players on the park to put the ball in the back of the net, so let’s hope they can provide some entertainment at St James Park!

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Reading 0-0 Coventry

    There goes the half-time whistle.

Nothing to separate them so far.

Both teams have had good chances and will fancy their chances of turning one point into three in the second half.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Reading 0-0 Coventry

This time it's Reading who go close to the opener!

Tom Ince hangs up an inviting cross and Yakou Meite arrives on cue to head towards goal but Ben Wilson gets down excellently to turn it around the post.

It's one booking apiece now as Jeff Hendrick sees yellow for a coming together with Callum O'Hare.

  17. Championship game of the daypublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Millwall v Wigan (15:00 GMT)

    Dan Ogunshakin
    BBC Squad Goals

All together now: “Kolo, Kolo, Kolo, Kolo, Kolo, Kolo, Kolo Toure!“

The Ivorian’s first foray into the world of football management as Wigan Athletic boss raised a few eyebrows and sent a few ripples of excitement through Latics fans as they look ahead to the resumption of the Championship.

Toure is going to need to tap into that positivity as he faces a tough task to steer struggling Wigan away from the relegation zone to safety, starting at Millwall.

While his appointment was warmly received in most quarters, it wasn’t without criticism. Some have claimed that he is too inexperienced for a relegation battle but with a glittering CV and having learned under Brendan Rodgers over the past five years, Toure is confident in his own ability.

He’s going to need to be. The visitors won their last fixture before the World Cup break but it was their first in eight matches and they are winless in their past five away fixtures.

In opponents Millwall, Wigan face a team stung by last week’s 3-0 heavy defeat to Sunderland which saw the Lions drop out of the play-off places.

While that defeat no doubt hurt Gary Rowett, getting competitive minutes in his players’ legs last Saturday may hand them a slight advantage this weekend as they look to negate any new manager bounce caused by Toure’s appointment.

  19. Can misfiring Bluebirds find their shooting boots?published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Stoke v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

    Alex NeilImage source, Rex Features

The table suggests there won't be much in this one as the Bluebirds head to the Potteries.

Stoke, in 18th, are one place above Cardiff and neither side could have claimed to be in sparkling form before the break for the World Cup.

Alex Neil's side have lost two of their last three and do not have a great record against today's opponents, having won just one of their last eight league games against Cardiff which came via a 2-0 home win in February 2020.

A lack of goals has been one of the main issues for Mark Hudson's Bluebirds, who are the lowest scorers in the division with 17.

Fans of both sides will be hoping the break gave their sides a chance to reset and lead to a better campaign from here on in.

  20. Postpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Reading 0-0 Coventry

We're going to have six additional minutes here - much of that will be down to the early injury to Reading's Tom Holmes.

We've all got used to plenty of added time in matches since the action started in Qatar anyway haven't we!
