Okay, we'll call it a day here.

A disappointing first half, followed by a so-so second for Scotland, with the added bonus of a wonderful John McGinn goal.

You can catch highlights on Sportscene at the late hour of 23:25 on BBC One Scotland. That will be on the iPlayer tomorrow if you can't stay up.

    Good night.

Steve Clarke does have a point about the penalty incident. If VAR had been in operation, surely they would have spotted both Lyndon Dykes and Scott McKenna being blatantly obstructed from a corner.

However, Jack Hendry was probably lucky to get away with a pull late in the first half.

  3. Scotland denied 'a clear penalty'published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

"A fantastic John McGinn goal as he normally gets for us and that changes the dynamic of the game," continues Scotland manager Steve Clarke.

"Turkey had to be a little more cautious, we had some moments but we couldn't get the equaliser.

"When you look at the penalty incident, it was a clear penalty and why it's not given I do not know. On the flip side, when Stuart [Armstrong] went down on the edge of the box, I don't think it was a foul and Turkey score from the counter-attack off that. I would have liked the penalty, to be honest!

"Young Calvin (Ramsay) gets his first cap, which is great for him and it was a tough night for him. He gave us a little bit more defensive stability. Lewis Ferguson came off the bench and was very good. There are positives to be taken from the game but the overriding feeling is disappointment that the four game unbeaten run comes to an end."

  4. 'A mixed evening for Scotland' - Clarkepublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

Scotland manager Steve Clarke tells BBC Scotland: "I thought at times we coped quite well, at other times not quite so well. We probably gave up too many chances in the first-half, a lot of them from our own slackness, maybe the mentality of a friendly.

"But it should be mentioned that it is a long trip. We decided to do it in quite a short time-span. We only had 20-25 minutes of tactical work on the pitch yesterday which was in front of everyone who wanted to watch it. So we can make some excuses from that but I don't want to make too many excuses.

"There were some things that we tried on the pitch, organisation and set-play wise that worked and some that didn't. We have to go away, analyse what we did and hopefully be much better next year.

"The first goal is the key goal. If we get in at half-time 0-0 we can tweak the team a little bit and do what we want to do and still be on level terms. To defend a set-piece like that is poor, so we will make sure we try and improve on that. It's not something that we have culpable off recently so it is something we can address."

  5. 'A dream come true' for Ramsaypublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

Scotland debutant Calvin Ramsay has also been talking to BBC Scotland.

"It's a massive achievement for me," he said. "My family were here, so for me to come on and make my debut for Scotland it's a dream come true for all of us.

"It was a tough game, they're a good side. Second half was much better, we created more chances, were on top of them a bit more. It's going to be tough when you go 2-0 down, but you've got to keep your head, get on the ball and try to make an impression.

"It's not been the longest camp, but I've still learnt a lot, and hopefully I can come away with them again and keep learning.

"I don't really get nervous, I try to keep as calm as I can because I know if I'm going onto the pitch nervous, I'll overthink things.

"It's brilliant having [Andy Robertson] here, I've got him at my club as well, so he's been giving me advice and helping me. I know I've got him, and there's a few other boys I played with at Aberdeen. I'm enjoying it."

  6. 'World Cup build-up hurts'published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

"It means a lot," adds John McGinn on his 15th international goal. "One goal for Scotland was probably enough, I am just happy to help the team.

"The manager started me off a little bit deeper tonight but at half-time told me to get up alongside Lyndon [Dykes] and cause some problems and thankfully I got another goal.

"In the end, I just want to be involved in a team that are playing in major tournaments. The build-up to the World Cup has stung us, hurt us, so the reality of that has kicked in and we will use that to drive us on to make sure we're in Germany and USA after that."

  7. 'Signs are good for Scotland'published at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

Some more from Scotland midfielder John McGinn...

"We're a resilient group, talented, with a mixture of experience and youth. Calvin [Ramsay] coming on is another sign of the young players coming through. They can challenge us and make us better.

"The signs are good. We have a group who are staying pretty similar, we are keen to come and meet up. We are getting better, tonight was a bit of a learning curve for us, a wake up call, but we will take a lot from it."

  9. 'We showed glimpses of what we're capable of'published at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

Scotland goal-scorer John McGinn tells BBC Scotland: "We were good at times. It was a testing environment, not an easy place to come. The conditions were extremely difficult but it sets us up for the (Euro 2024) campaign which is going to be tough, so it certainly prepares us for that.

"Certainly in the first half we didn't really stand-up to it to well but we were resolute up until late on in the half where we concede a poor goal from a set-piece. There was a number of things that weren't clicking.

"Changing to a back four at half-time, we adapted pretty poorly to start with but the last 30 minutes we showed glimpses of what we are capable of and if we play like that then we will be fine come March.

"We regrouped and in the end I think we did enough to get a draw out of the game so there are positives to take. Obviously, we didn't want to lose, we were four unbeaten up until this point but thankfully we were able to put a good fight up towards the end and when the real stuff comes in March we will learn from tonight."

Scotland are still heading in the right direction. The big one was the failure to beat Ukraine (World Cup play-off semi-final) and you cannot get away from that. There's improvement in this team. They came back into the game strongly tonight.

Scotland will not be in action again until a home game with Cyprus on 25 March. Spain visit Hampden three days after that on the road to Euro 2024.

Steve Clarke's men certainly can't afford a performance like this against the Spanish.

  13. Ramsay up and running for Scotlandpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2022

    FT: Turkey 2-1 Scotland

Liverpool teenager Calvin Ramsay made his Scotland debut as a half-time replacement.

There were a couple of shaky moments and he didn't really have the opportunity to bomb forward, but he can be proud of the achievement at such a young age and there will be more caps to come, no doubt.

You have to hand it to John McGinn. Without him, Scotland have nothing positive to talk about. That was a fantastic goal and it turned the whole game around.

  16. FULL-TIME Turkey 2-1 Scotlandpublished at 90+3 mins

Scotland improved in the final half hour but there's no doubt Turkey are deserving of the victory.

The home side outplayed Steve Clarke's uncertain men in the first half but only had a Ozan Kabak header to show for their dominance.

When Cengiz Under struck early in the second half, we feared the worst, but John McGinn replied with a stunning solo goal.

It wasn't enough though as Scotland fall to the first friendly defeat of Clarke's reign.
