Stevenage have moved within five points of top-spot after a 3-1 win over Crawley.

Jordan Roberts gave Steve Evans' side an early lead and skipper Carl Piergianni scored in either half before Dom Telford's late penalty reduced the arrears for managerless Crawley, led by Darren Byfield on the night.

Leyton Orient remain top but had to settle for a stalemate at Newport County who stay 18th after a battling point.

Lewis Dobbin's second half goal gave them the win that takes them three points clear of seventh while the Us remain 19th.

Lincoln drop to 15th following the defeat.

    Birmingham 0-1 Hull

A grandstand finish at St Andrew's where John Ruddy, yes the Birmingham keeper, has a free header at the far post but can only angle his effort the wrong side of the upright.

    Breathless stuff.

Hull have won. Oscar Estupinan has 10 for the season. Hull are unbeaten in six on the road, taking 14 points no-less.

Swansea's eight-game winless streak is over after an incredible win over Watford.

The Swans are up to 12th - they are even four points off fourth, for crying out loud! The Championship table is as congested as the returns desk at Marks and Sparks this week.

Watford are going to have a miserable New Year's Eve.

    Birmingham 0-1 Hull

Five added minutes for Birmingham to try to find a leveller but it's Cyrus Christie who almost tees up sub Tyler Smith in the area for a second, John Ruddy having to rush off his line to intercept the overhit pass. What a let-off for Blues.

  11. goal

GOAL: Swansea 4-0 Watfordpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Joel Latibeaudiere (87 mins)

Are you Cardiff in disguise, the home faithful enquire. Swansea are going to win this one, their first win since October. On this display it's a real head scratcher how they haven't won in their last eight.

Joel Latibeaudiere is on hand at the far post to tap in from an angle and complete a typically attractive flowing move and register his first goal of the season.

What a miserable Christmas for Watford, who also lost 2-0 to Millwall on Monday.

Carl Piergianni has his second for Stevenage who now lead Crawley 3-1 after Dom Telford converts from the spot to pull one back late-on.

Leaders Leyton Orient remain goalless at Newport.

    Norwich 1-1 Reading

Reading definitely have a fair bit of confidence headed into the final stages of this match having equalised against Norwich late on.

Yakou Meite makes a decent run on the left but Canaries keeper Angus Gunn scoops it up.

  14. goal

GOAL: Norwich 1-1 Readingpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Andy Carroll (83 mins)

Reading equalise with seven minutes left on the clock!

Andy Carroll makes no mistake from the spot and all of a sudden the Royals are back in this game.

That's not what Norwich will have wanted as they tried to preserve a slender lead.

  15. PENALTY TO READINGpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Norwich 1-0 Reading

    Ooh er.

Reading win a penalty inside the final 10 minutes at Carrow Road.

Nesta Guinness-Walker is brought down and the visitors have the chance to level things up.

  16. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 0-1 Hullpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Oscar Estupinan (77 mins)

It's a 10th goal of the season from the Tigers hot shot and you can't say they don't deserve it. Cyrus Christie fires a low cross into the near post where Oscar Estupinan nips in to beat John Ruddy.

Liam Rosenior has overseen four draws and a win in his six games so far, could this be a second victory?

We're into the final 10 minutes of normal time in both of our League One fixtures tonight.

  18. goal

GOAL: Swansea 3-0 Watfordpublished at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Joel Piroe (78 mins)

It's now eight for the season for the Swans top-scorer.

Some more suspect Hornets defending allows the hosts to work the ball to Joel Piroe just outside the area who is able to pick his spot in the bottom corner low to Daniel Bachmann's right.

Game over, surely? Swansea wouldn't give up a three-goal lead, would they?

  19. Postpublished at 21:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Norwich 1-0 Reading

It's getting a bit scrappy at Carrow Road now as time ticks down in this one.

Mamadou Loum goes into the book for a cynically tough challenge on Josh Sargent as Reading hastily try to stop a Norwich break.

  20. goal

GOAL: Swansea 2-0 Watfordpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Liam Cullen (74 mins)

Watford fail to properly deal with another set-piece and it proves costly.

Harry Darling pulls away to the far post and drills the ball back into the centre where it drops to Liam Cullen to lash low through a forest of legs to double the advantage.
