Not too many goals about elsewhere either.

In League One, Lincoln lead Bolton through Ben House's early strike. It's still goalless between Derby and Cambridge United.

In League Two, Stevenage are on course to close the gap at the top at the interval as they lead Crawley 2-0 while Leyton Orient are goalless at Newport.

The Os have come close on a number of occasions but needed a fine save on the line from keeper Lawrence Vigouroux to ensure it remained goalless at the break.

Stevenage lead through Jordan Roberts and Carl Piergianni and are looking at a 10th win in 12 home games, barring a miraculous comeback from Crawley.

  2. Nothing much to shout about at Stokepublished at 20:41 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Stoke City 0-0 Burnley

    Ged Scott
BBC Sport at the Bet 365 Stadium

I sensed this might not be a night to remember when I arrived to discover that they no longer serve pre-match sausage rolls in the Stoke City press room.

But worse than no sausage rolls... no goals either!

There has been a lot of meat in a lot of tackles, half chances at either end and the usual penalty shout and it's been a good, competitive contest. In-form Burnley have in fact met their match in hard-working Stoke.

But, other than the generous minute's pre-match applause for the late greatest footballer of all time, nothing that would have had Pele out of his seat.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

Only one added minute at St Andrew's and I'm not sure too many were complaining about that.

The visitors have probably edged the first 45 minutes. John Ruddy being called into a good save from Sean McLoughlin and another couple of shots going close.

Troy Deeney has had the only real effort of note for the Blues, denied by Matt Ingram.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Stoke 0-0 Burnley

No goals at the break at the Bet365 Stadium.

But the story of the half will be Burnley being denied a penalty after Manuel Benson was brought down by Morgan Fox.

Stoke ended the half strongly, however.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Norwich 0-0 Reading

Goalless at the break at Carrow Road.

Managerless Norwich being held by Reading. Not a stellar game, mind.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Joel Piroe has given the Swans the advantage at the break, nipping in to score his seventh of the season.

The hosts grew into the half and Daniel Bachmann was by far the busier keeper and the majority of the home team's best moments involved the delivery from the left of Ryan Manning.

Watford are yet to turn up...

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Stoke 0-0 Burnley

Stoke should be ahead against Burnley.

Jordan Thompson sends a corner into the Clarets' box and it falls to Morgan Fox who fires from close range but keeper Arijanet Muric puts in a stunning point blank save to deny him.

  8. Postpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Watford stopper Daniel Bachmann is back in action again, this time to stop a flick from Matt Grimes on his line after a header from Harry Darling.

Swansea don't look like a team short on confidence, or points, but it's still early days, I guess.

  9. League Two latestpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    #bbcefl

Carl Piergianni has doubled Stevenage's lead at home to Crawley with a header in off the post from close range.

League Two leaders Leyton Orient are knocking at the door in South Wales but can't find a way through at Newport. Still goalless there.

  10. Swansea finally score firstpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

Swansea have scored the first goal in a game for the first time in two months, thanks to a fine Liam Cullen pass and the sort of clinical finish Joel Piroe produced more often last season than he has so far in this campaign.

The last time Swansea opened the scoring, nine games ago against Cardiff City, was the last time they won.

Russell Martin's side will feel they deserve the lead having built some momentum as this half as gone on, thanks in no small part to the energy of Cullen.

The homegrown striker is enjoying himself on his first Championship start since August 2021.

  11. League One latestpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

Dion Charles has just fired a low shot as Bolton chase an equaliser against Lincoln, but keeper Carl Rushworth deals with the danger.

Straight from the get go, he throws to Ben House who works a shot away at the other end, forcing Wanderers keeper James Trafford into a clearance.

Meanwhile, it's still goalless at Pride Park between Derby and Cambridge.

  12. goal

GOAL: Swansea 1-0 Watfordpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Joel Piroe (39 mins)

Joel Piroe has his seventh of the season and it has been coming.

He had seen a low drive from outside the area saved by Daniel Bachmann moments earlier but this time he latches onto a through ball and clips past the keeper from a slight angle.

    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

Juninho Bacuna has gone into the book for Blues for apparent simulation, much to the annoyance of some of the home faithful.

  14. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Norwich 0-0 Reading

Reading beginning to get back into this game now having built a spell of possession against managerless Norwich.

Just over 10 minutes left in the first half. The Royals have an attacking trio of Junior Hoilett, Tom Ince and Andy Carroll tonight.

Surely this won't be goalless for long.

  15. Postpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

Sean McLoughlin is the latest to go close for the visitors, he latches onto Jean Michel Seri's smart free-kick but John Ruddy denies him to keep the deadlock intact.

  16. Postpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Stoke 0-0 Burnley

Josh Cullen's gone into the book for Burnley for a bad tackle on Jacob Brown.

Not a great deal to report in this first half other than the Clarets being denied a penalty earlier on.

  17. Postpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 0-0 Hull

Ryan Manning's high free-kick curls towards the far post and after coming off his line Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann collides with Swans defender Harry Darling in mid-air. That would have been a foul in the 1920s, let alone the 2020s.

Backmann gets some lengthy treatment but is eventually back on his feet. Darling received a yellow card.

  18. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

Matt Ingram gets down well to deny Troy Deeney's shot from just inside the area, the closest the Blues have come.

Moments later at the other end Ryan Longman fires over from an angle after some nice Tigers approach play. The game is coming to life, perhaps?

  19. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Norwich 0-0 Reading

Norwich still pressing Reading as we approach the halfway point of the first period at Carrow Road.

Adam Idah sees his shot blocked after the ball is floated around the Royals' box.

Sam Smith dispossesses James Collins as Cambridge take the game to Derby and win a corner at Pride Park.

It's still goalless there, however, as the the Rams deal with the corner soon after and are awarded a free-kick.

Meanwhile, Lincoln still lead Bolton, however Regan Poole's been booked for a robust challenge near the touchline.
