    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

The ball is in the net at St Andrew's, it's Ryan Longman of Hull who gets the final touch after a pass from Greg Docherty, but the flag is up and it won't count.

2022 is rather fizzling out as opposed to a firework display, at this rate...

    Stoke City 0-1 Burnley

You have to say that Burnley had turned up the heat a bit. And that goal had been coming.

But, from the Potters' point of view, it was so preventable.

Admittedly, it was all rather chaotic in the Stoke six-yard box. But Harry Clarke had the chance to clear off the line and succeeded only in steering it tamely back in the direction of his keeper Jack Bonham and Josh Cullen gobbled up the rebound.

Burnley have been playing such lovely football of late, it seems almost bizarre to have to report on a bit of a scrappy one. But they're the ones that win you promotion!

It's as you were, midway through the second-half. Stevenage look like closing the gap on leaders Leyton Orient as they lead Crawley 2-0 while the Os remain goalless at Newport County.

  7. Martin in the bookpublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

John Busby has shown a yellow card to Swansea head coach Russell Martin, presumably for complaining about the referee's failure to award a free-kick for what looked like a foul on Luke Cundle.

Martin is still grumbling at the fourth official - but he will be delighted with his team's efforts to this point.

Swansea have played some good stuff and deserve their lead - although you sense there is still plenty of work to do if they are to win this game.

Watford look a long way from finished.

  8. Postpublished at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

Slaven Bilic has made a couple of changes on the hour to boost his side's attacking threat. Samuel Kalu and Vakoun Bayo are the new faces. Can they make an impact? Watford could go third with a win, don't forget!

    Breakthrough!

Burnley take the lead and it comes courtesy of Josh Cullen.

It's a scrappy goal and it comes after Manuel Benson gets a shot away with Harry Clarke then making an attempt to clear it away but it rebounds off keeper Jack Bonham and into the path of Cullen who strokes home inside the area.

Key double substitution for Burnley at Stoke.

Jay Rodriguez and first minute Boxing Day goal hero Anass Zaroury are on.

Already the big noisy Burnley travelling contingent of 2,557 in a crowd of 21,464 are getting excited with a burst of 'Anass, Anass Zaroury, run down the wing for me . . .'

To the old Heartbeat/Maxi Rodriguez tune.

    Birmingham 0-0 Hull

Hull are unbeaten and have claimed nine points from their last five Championship away fixtures after taking just two from their first six this season.

Birmingham are starting to realise why. A couple more dangerous crosses into the box from the Tigers, chances still at a premium however.

Derby have taken the lead against Cambridge and it's come courtesy of Lewis Dobbin.

Meanwhile, as we approach the hour mark, Lincoln are still 1-0 up against Bolton.

  15. Postpublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2022

    Swansea 1-0 Watford

The visitors have seen more of the ball in the opening stages of the second half but can't engineer an opening, Leandro Bacuna gets an unfortunate ricochet at the far post to concede a goal kick and see a good attack end in disappointment.

Both sides taking good care of the ball at all times. One for the purists, this one.

  16. goal

    Adam Idah (53 mins)

    Breakthrough at Carrow Road!

Norwich take the lead and it's Adam Idah who finds the net, with a half volley after Teemu Pukki teed him up.

That's a relief for the managerless hosts.

New half, same script. Hull on the attack in the second city, Oscar Estupinan has a header blocked before Alfie Jones lashed the follow-up over the crossbar.

We're just about getting back under way across the English Football League, with one half remaining in 2022.

I would imagine the various players up and down the country have also enjoyed some pretzels and sweets during the half-time break, or is that just me?
