    It's been a long day of third-round action and the romance of the Scottish Cup is alive and well, with three shock results.

    Lowland League high flyers Stirling University won away to League 2's Albion Rovers.

    However, Drumchapel United and Darvel vie for the result of the day.

    Drumchapel, mid-table in the West of Scotland First Division, knocked out Edinburgh 1-0, while Darvel, who lead the division above Glasgow side, thumped another side near the top of League 1 - Montrose - 5-2.

    Dundee avert a Scottish Cup shock at the hands of League 1's Diamonds thanks to four goals in extra time.

    The Championship side were aided by the red card show to defender Cammy Ballantyne at the end of normal time.

    Result of the day was at Montrose, where West of Scotland Premier League leaders Darvel handed the League 1 side a bit of a thumping.

    Former Queen of the South, Ross County, St Mirren and Falkirk midfielder Ian McShane was their two-goal hero.

    A surprise result particularly given Montrose had gone four home games without defeat and are sitting fourth in the third tier.
