England fan Matt van Hessing, who is travelling to Qatar to watch England on Sunday, told BBC Radio 5 Live he's "prepared for every possibility" against Senegal.

"I am not ready at all but I am very excited.

"We have got a friend who is working for Fifa at the World Cup and we have been corralled into going.

"We bought match tickets before the group draw and we were lucky that the tickets fell on England's side for the last-16 and potentially the quarter-final.

"I am a Spurs fan so glass is half-empty with these things.

"We are expecting us to beat Senegal, but it could go to penalties, so we are prepared for every possibility and then we can go on to batter France."

  6. 'I can play seven 90 minutes if needed'published at 10:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2022

Senegal v England (Sun, 19:00 GMT)

    England

Declan Rice on how he was disappointed to be taken off in the Euro 2020 final: "It drives me on a lot. You don't want to get taken off in any game, let alone in the final. The manager saw something nad that is absolutely fine.

"We've got such good players in the group and if we win the World Cup, that is all I want to happen. If the manger thinks he sees something tactically, that's fine, he's the manager."

On coming off early against Wales: "I've not had a conversation with the manager yet, but I think that was to manage my load. It started to open up at 2-0 but he took me off and it was a nice comfortable victory. My record of playing games speaks for itself, I have played 50-60 games consistently for three years. I keep myself fresh. If I am needed for seven 90 minutes i know I can put myself in a position to do that."

"He is lightning quick and the technique he's got.

"He had a tough year but no-one doubted him. I'm delighted for him and I know the whole group are."

    England

England's Declan Rice on whether France losing to Tunisia has any effect on team belief: "I didn't see the French game as I was with the family.

"But there's been a lot of shocks, so you can't take anything for granted.

"It could have been a banana skin for us in any other of the games. Big nations have lost.

"We didn't feel the group pressure as such as we felt like we controlled the group.

"When you play the bigger teams, your level has to go up because that's when you can make your name.

"Knockouts are no no different to what we've prepared for so far, the level of attention we go too.

"Details will now be more fine-cut that's all."

"You don't want to overtake penalties in training, that doesn't help for anyone. You want to be fresh. I am really confident about penalties."

From West Ham's Academy to the World Cup stage, it's been quite the journey for England midfielder Declan Rice.

The 23-year-old, however, has always believed in his ability and what he can bring to the game.

Speaking to his boyhood club West Ham, when he was in the youth academy, he said: "I can play in two positions. I can play at centre half or I can play as a central defensive midfielder.

"I read the game well, strong passing, left foot, right foot.

"A big part of my game, probably my favourite part, is the communication side of it.

"I see myself as a leader."

"He emphasises we're England, we're just as big as anyone else and we can achieve anything.

"When you have a manager like that, anything is possible.

"The closest I've got to a big shock was beating Germany and I remember thinking that day in the dressing room, there was no way we were losing.

"That's what you want, that feeling because that's what takes you all the way."

  13. 'Why should we not be feared?'published at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2022

Senegal v England (Sun, 19:00 GMT)

    England

Declan Rice on whether other sides will fear England: "Yeah, definitely. Other nations will look at our quality and why should we not be feared? If you look at our attacking talent we have world-class talent. Across the board we have players who have won the biggest trophies.

"It is up to us to prove that. The likes of France have done that. We're not just here to get into the last 16, we want to go the whole way."

"We're together all the time, you never see a player on their own. We eat together, we sit by the pool together and we play games together.

"It feels like home here, the team have done so well to make it homely.

"There's a real united team here, so if we can keep that going then we we can push on together."

"I've told him before every game that this is his stage and I'll be there for you.

"We're learning really well together on the job.

"There's been a lot of goals he's scored tihs year where he's ran in and scored, so hopefully he can keep producing for us."

    England

Declan Rice on squad strength: "I think it's top-level - it's always nice to know you can bring players on that can instantly change the game. We've got world-class players that can do that. In a World Cup you need that.

"Competition is really healthy and I'd do anything to win the World Cup. So if that means someone comes on and helps that then that's all that matters. We all share the same goal."
