    Norwich 0-1 Blackburn

    Norwich are pushing now.

A corner is half-cleared and Teemu Pukki goes and wins it back for the home side.

Chants of "We want Deano out!" are quite audible.

This would be a fourth home loss in six if the Canaries can't find a leveller.

Dean Smith's side are still fifth but a loss here coupled with a Sheffield United win on Monday would leave them nine points adrift of second place.

You can certainly sense the frustration starting to get around the ground now.

It'll be interesting if the fans are still calling for Dean Smith to go if Norwich get a goal.

    Norwich 0-1 Blackburn

The Championship returned last week after four weeks off for the opening stages of the World Cup.

With the best will in the world it does feel like both of these sides are still a bit rusty from that time off.

Bradley Dack's lovely backheel plays Jon Buckley into acres of space through the middle of the Norwich midfield but he overhits his pass for Ben Brereton Diaz and the chance goes.

    Hmmm.

Another promising free-kick situation comes to nought.

Danel Sinani beats the wall but his effort lacks power and is easily fielded by Blackburn goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

Norwich's Josh Sargent charges forward for the home side and is fouled by the stretching Dom Hyam about 25 yards out.

    Norwich 0-1 Blackburn

Norwich start on the front foot.

They dominated possession in the first half but didn't really do very much with it.

They need to step it up if they're to take anything from this game.

  12. Second halfpublished at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2022

    Norwich 0-1 Blackburn

    We're back under way.

Blackburn have won all 12 games when they have scored the first goal this season. Can they keep that run going?

Swansea battled back from 3-0 down to draw at Coventry, courtesy of three goals in 16 minutes late in the second half.

After the match, Swansea head coach Russell Martin said:

"The subs who came on were outstanding. In the last half hour the willingness to run, the reaction to tough moments, the willingness to fight, was the polar opposite to the first hour.

"In the first hour we played some brilliant football but there is no point doing that if we are going to show the lack of energy, the lack of conviction, the lack of reaction to losing the ball, the lack of runs into the box [which we did] - it's nowhere near good enough.

"I am really disappointed by that. The guys who came in showed every bit of that, the willingness to run and to press.

"We have conceded rubbish goals today. I didn't like the reaction to the second and third goals we conceded - throwing their arms up at each other, the body language.

"I have told them - that's never going to be us. Be a good team-mate in every situation. I am really proud of the last half an hour but I am really hurt by the first 60 minutes."

Jimmy Dunne lashed the only goal off the underside of the crossbar to secure the points for QPR in Neil Critchley's first game in charge, at Preston.

After the game Critchley told BBC Radio London:

"I couldn’t have asked for more from the lads to be honest, they’ve given me everything all week. I can see that they are a good, really honest group of players to work with.

"Coming to a team in form, we’re out of form, I said to the players 'we’re not coming here to take a point, we’re coming here to win. We’re not going to be on the back foot, we’re going to take the game to them'.

"I think we did that. We didn’t score when we were on top but thankfully we did in the second half, we scored from a corner routine that we worked on yesterday.

"It was a lovely delivery and thankfully he hit it a bit better than the ones he hit yesterday. We got the reward for that and then had to show a real different side to our game. To come here and keep a clean sheet – I’m really proud of the way the players played today."

Manuel Benson scored twice as Burnley came from behind to beat Middlesbrough and extend their lead at the top of the Championship to six points.

After the game Boro boss Michael Carrick told BBC Radio Tees:

"It’s a defeat, it does happen. I’m bitterly disappointed and frustrated, I feel for the boys because I thought for large spells of the game they stuck to their task and frustrated them for long spells, and still looked like we had a threat.

"To come away like we did in the end is disappointing. We have to accept and learn from it. I said before the game it wasn't going to shape our season, whatever happened today.

"We’ve suffered defeat, we’ll take it and look to improve and get better for the games ahead. There’s half a season to go so it’s all to play for."

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray says midfielder Elliot Embleton has been taken to hospital in an ambulance after an injury picked up in a challenge he was sent off for in their draw at Hull.

The 23-year-old was stretchered off after being red-carded by the referee.

"I don’t want to comment on what we think it is, but he’s in a lot of pain and discomfort," Mowbray said after the match.

"It looks like a bad injury."

Norwich have had a few moments in the game where they've had control of the ball and got into good areas.

But there's been no end product and Thomas Kaminski in the Blackburn goal has had a very quiet evening so far.

The whistle goes for half-time and the home fans voice their displeasure.

Rovers took a very early lead when Ben Gibson sliced Tyler Morton's clever free-kick into his own net.

The home side have just about shaded it since then but they're yet to press Thomas Kaminski in the away goal into a real save of note.

As it stands, Blackburn are going back up to third and Norwich will stay fifth.

    Credit to Blackburn.

They're getting through a huge amount of work out there to stop Norwich getting into any real rhythm.

A cross from Sam McCallum lands on the top of the Rovers net but Thomas Kaminski didn't seem unduly worried.
