England and France on Saturday - but it's Christmas time and no-one has any diary space in December.

We've been hearing about what clashes you have with the match and how you're going to work around them.

Steve Kesterton, a member of a brass band in Staffordshire preparing for their annual Christmas concert this weekend, says the timing is "an absolute disaster".

"On Saturday, we've got a showcase concert at a church in Tutbury which starts at 19:30 so we need to be there at 19:00 to set up, which is kick-off time for a rather important football match," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Would he consider pulling a sickie?

"No way," he said. "The band are beautiful people. There's no chance I could let them down."

Any hope of avoiding the score will be impossible, he added, given the large crowd attending so he has been thinking of ways to keep up with the game while the band performs.

"My partner's going to be in the audience. So I'm going to get her to hopefully do some polite hand signals to me. And then my friends will be watching the game, so they can send me some cheeky silent texts," he said.

England will meet France in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday (19:00 GMT kick-off) - and one player in particular is on everyone's mind.

Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world right now, and a lot of the talk has been about how he can be stopped by Gareth Southgate's Three Lions.

Mbappe was just 19 when he played a key role in France's run to glory at Russia 2018, scoring four goals along the way.

His strike in the 4-2 win over Croatia made him the second teenager to score in a World Cup final, after Brazil legend Pele in 1958.

He is also the leading scorer in Qatar so far with five goals, and his overall tally of nine at World Cups means he has already overtaken Diego Maradona, who scored eight for Argentina, and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Indeed, he is the youngest player to score nine World Cup goals, breaking a record held by Eusebio, who scored eight for Portugal by the age of 24 years and 182 days.

Jude Bellingham has been perhaps England's stand-out performer of the tournament so far, bossing the games against Iran and Senegal from midfield.

England assistant manager Steve Holland, 52 spent eight years in the coaching team at Chelsea, during which time he got to work with players like Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry.

Before Saturday's quarter-final with France, England assistant manager Steve Holland explained what set these players apart and had fulsome praise for the "unique" Bellingham.

“The self-belief, the confidence, the drive, the ambition every day to push and be competitive," said Holland.

He added that, "Jude has those mental attributes."

Following England's win over Senegal, captain Harry Kane said there were "no weaknesses" in the Borussia Dortmund player's game. In the first half alone, Bellingham got an assist and topped the stats for passes completed, ground duels won and aerial duels won.

"There’s only three things that you can do in football: stop goals, make goals, score goals," said Holland, adding, "Jude can do all of those things."

Police investigating a break-in at the home of England star Raheem Sterling have made two arrests after another attempted burglary in the same village.

Surrey Police is now looking into whether there are links between the two raids in Oxshott, Surrey.

In a statement, police said two men, who remain in custody, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary on 6 December in the Oxshott area.

Jewellery reported to be worth £300,000 was stolen from the player's home.

The Chelsea winger, 27, left the England World Cup squad in Qatar and returned to the UK after the burglary.

It is thought Mr Sterling's fiancée, Paige Milian, returned to the couple's home to discover that there had been a break-in.

The footballer is said to have been shaken and concerned about the wellbeing of his children following the incident.

The Football Association offered extensive security guidance to players before leaving for Qatar and has an experienced security team on hand to advise and provide support.
