But the World Cup marches on and so do we.

At about 4.30am every day in Doha, the Adhan echoes around the city. After hearing the Islamic call to prayer, worshippers make their way to their local mosque for Fajr (dawn) prayers.
At the same time, World Cup visitors are climbing back into their beds having left the Fifa fan festival - where matches are shown on big screens, then concerts staged - when it closes at 2am.
"It feels so special seeing the excitement and smiles of the fans," fan festival director Mead Al Emadi told BBC Sport. "We have welcomed people from all backgrounds and cultures to celebrate the best of football here."
Qatar is a conservative country but Sharia law is firmly entrenched in its constitution - homosexuality is illegal, and the consumption of alcohol is prohibited in public.
Every stadium has designated prayer rooms, including the media centres, which are often packed when the time is approaching for the next of the five daily prayers, and the Khalifa International Stadium has a purpose-built mosque within its perimeter.
"If the World Cup hadn't been held here, we probably wouldn't have come [to Qatar]," says Faizal, who has travelled from Yorkshire with his father and brother.
"The prayer facilities here make it very easy for us, whether it's in the fan festival, the souq or the stadium. It has been lovely to see tourists from all over the world attending the mosques and having a genuine interest in Islam and the Arab culture.
"Halal food is a must for us and would most likely be a struggle in other countries, so having access to halal food wherever we are is such a huge benefit to us."

"We were shown our limits and we have to apologise to all Switzerland fans in the name of the team."
Boss Murat Yakin admitted his side has been caught cold by Portgual.
"We must accept this defeat and congratulate Portugal," he said. "They surprised us.
"This defeat hurts - the score and the manner of the loss saddens me."

Saudi-funded Al Arabiya TV led bulletins with the “miracle” result, saying: “The lions dominate and the matador falls."
Many of Morocco's newspapers also dedicated their front pages to the victory. Aujourd'hui le Maroc led with the headline, external: "On to the next!"
Immediately after the result and wrapped in a Moroccan flag, the presenter in the studio of Moroccan state-run Al-Aoula TV channel spoke to a correspondent who had joined revellers in capital Rabat.
“I’m sure there are celebrations in every Moroccan street, every city, in every house, in every flat” he said.
And on Twitter, several hashtags were trending - including “The lions of the Atlantic” and “The Arabs’ pride”.

Ronaldo is struggling more than Messi because Messi was never based on pure speed. A lot of what Ronaldo has done involved his pace, which he hasn’t got anymore. It’s time he finished. Portugal showed last night they’re better without him just like Man Utd have shown they’re better without him this season too

He has since scored nine goals in 11 games for Benfica, and a hat-trick for Portugal at the World Cup.

Image source, Getty ImagesWhile Cristiano Ronaldo, with eight World Cup goals, is yet to score in six knockout appearances for Portugal at the tournament, Ramos already has three.
Ramos, who developed through Benfica's youth system, had played a total of just 33 minutes for Portugal in three appearances for his country before facing Switzerland on Tuesday.
That included one goal in a 23-minute friendly appearance against Nigeria in November, before a two-minute and an eight-minute cameo in the group games against Ghana and Uruguay respectively.
He then remained an unused substitute as an already qualified Portugal lost to South Korea.
However, given his first senior international start in the knockout stages of the World Cup, he delivered a performance that suggested he had been doing this for years.

Can't help but feel this whole Ronaldo thing is overhyped. Also the media want to be careful they don't fire him up, so if he faces England in the semi-finals he has a point to prove

Image source, Getty ImagesGoncalo Ramos certainly stole the headlines across Portugal, after scoring a hat-trick in his first start of the tournament.
Portugal's national newspaper, Jornal de Noticias, called the 21-year-old "the 'sorcerer' surpassed only by Pele,", external in reference to the fact that he is the youngest player to score a World Cup hat-trick since the Brazilian great.
The paper added that Ramos' path has been one of "rapid ascent" but "he stood out" as a talent at the age of five when growing up in the Algarve city of Olhao.
Elsewhere, in Record, the headline reads "From Olhao to the World,", external adding the young striker, enjoyed a "night of dreams."
Even though it might have been a dream full debut for the Benfica forward, like all good things, it will come at a price.
According to A Bola, external, a Portuguese sports newspaper, teammate William Carvalho says the 21-year-old "now has to pay for dinner," as a result of his success.

Speaking to BBC's Radio 5 Live, he said Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't been himself throughout this World Cup, adding that the end of the 37-year-old's career is on the horizon.
"Ronaldo is an absolute hero to the Portuguese people and to to football fans, whether Portuguese or not, here in Qatar and you see that every day," Queiros said.
"However, the people are starting to realise and understand that that every star has its twilight and Ronaldo's twilight is coming - Father Time is relentless, and you cannot beat him.
"Especially after yesterday, it's going to be a natural passage. Had it gone wrong, it would raise a lot more controversy. But Ramos had his dream debut as a starting forward for Portugal, so it was a night of records."

I believe it backs up Man Utd's position, with Cristiano misbehaving with Portugal when he always had a very good relationship with the national team. He thinks that he has to be listened to by the managers/coaches. He should retire now to protect his legacy getting any more tarnished by his current behaviour.

Ronaldo needs to accept that he isn’t the same player he used to be and that the game has changed a lot in the time he has been at the top. But trying to fit in with an ultra ego just makes him look like a lost child in a sweet shop.

Ramos claiming no-one in the Portugal team "talked about it" regarding Ronaldo being dropped to the bench doesn't sound like a good thing at all. The decision paid off brilliantly against a very disappointing Switzerland, but let's see how united this squad is against sterner tests to come.
