  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

Wow, how has that not gone in?!

Son Heung-min picks out Emerson with a superb cross to the back post and the right wing-back sends a header back across goal.

It looks destined to float into the net but instead it hits the upright and Portsmouth survive.

Former Wales defender on BBC Red Button

At half-time I think [Portsmouth's interim boss] Simon Bassey will have been telling his players 'let's not let the focus, the energy levels drop. You've done tremendously well in the first half, limiting Tottenham to very few chances'.

  3. Postpublished at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Southampton

It's all a bit sloppy in the early stages of this second half. It probably doesn't help that the conditions are getting worse. The rain is driving down and swirling around the windswept ground.

  4. Postpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

The Tottenham fans will be hoping they don't have to wait too much longer for an opener from their side. The longer it stays goalless, the more Portsmouth - and their loud away support - will grow in confidence.

  5. 'Very excited to be taking over'published at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

    BBC One

New Gillingham owner Brad Galinson speaking to BBC One: "In America, we have leagues with no pyramid so this is so much more exciting.

"I was in London today and somebody asked whether this was the club that is the sleeping giant. So i'm going to try to wake the giant with a few upgrades, money and the community. The fans are just fantastic so we are very excited.

"Kenny Jackett and Andy Hessenthaler are experts, they're professionals and just sitting round the table and hearing them talk about the players and especially in the transfer market, it changes everything. It's the first time for a while that the Gills have had a structure and we hope it gets us through the transfer window and puts us up the table.

On the first half: "It's not bad, we're playing well. It' been a terrific match. We're hanging in there and playing with heart and soul. It's what this club is so I love it, it's a fantastic half.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

Off we go again. Not too many goals around at the moment. Let's see if we can put that right, shall we?

  7. Replays in third roundpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

With four of the five early kick-offs level at half-time, a reminder there is no extra-time or penalties. Last season there were no third-round replays to help with the fixture backlog caused by Covid postponements. However, replays will take place up to and including the fourth round this time.

  8. How long before Rodgers turns to bench?published at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

Leicester have a big Carabao Cup quarter-final at Newcastle on Tuesday and Brendan Rodgers will be keen to give as many key players as possible a rest before then. But he will not want an FA Cup replay so how long does he carry on without making changes? Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Wilfred Ndidi are among the substitutes.

  9. 'Competitive half from Gillingham'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC One

I think Neil Harris will be delighted. They have been very competitive. They have been very well organised defensively.

They are bottom of League Two but they have frustrated Leicester City in that first half. It's been difficult for them to find spaces to get Tielemans and Perez on the ball and that is because of how well Gillingham have defended.

They've had a chance or two themselves at the top end of the field, so I think it will be positive in that dressing room right now.

  10. 'Leicester's opportunity will come'published at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

    Wes Morgan
Former Leicester City defender on BBC One

There's no need to panic, Leicester will feel they are in control of the game. Just wait for their opportunity, I'm sure it will come. There have been a few nearly chances, Vardy got in through one of the balls down the line from Albrighton.

There have been a few interesting crosses but not much has come from it so it will be interesting to see if Rodgers makes any tactical changes.

Not how James Ward-Prowse probably designed this free-kick to end up, but Saints will snatch your hand of for it...

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Red Button

It's similar to the first half against Crystal Palace, when Tottenham weren't great. But second half they came out of the blocks flying and ended up winning the game comfortably.

Sometimes games go like this. The first half's difficult, there are lots of players behind the ball and it's difficult to break the opposition down. Second half it just opens up a bit more and the quality's able to show.

  13. Postpublished at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

Tottenham ended that half having attempted the last five shots in this game, with all five of those efforts coming in the final five minutes of the half.

Portsmouth weren't exactly hanging on but the pressure was certainly increasing on Joshua Griffiths' goal. The visitors last shot was in the 12th minute. Can they come out fresh for the second period?

  14. 'More of the same from Gillingham'published at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

If Neil Harris had a game plan, that was exactly it. Leicester's chances and creativity has been limited. The units have been organised, disciplined and the Gillingham manager will want more of the same in the second-half.

  15. Postpublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    HT: Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

What, if anything, does Antonio Conte need to change at half-time?

While Ryan Sessegnon has seen a lot of the ball on the left - 47% of Spurs attacks have come down that side - there hasn't been much joy on the right.

He's got the option of sending on Matt Doherty or Djed Spence in that department. Possibly worth a shot sooner rather than later.

  16. Reading ahead at the breakpublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

What a stunning opener for Reading!

It's full-back Kelvin Abrefa again who makes things happen, crossing from the right.

But his delivery goes over everyone, including the Watford keeper and nestles into the top corner. He couldn't have placed it better with his hand!

It was definitely a cross not a shot but Reading won't care. They're deservedly in front at half-time.

Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Preston's match with Huddersfield is goalless at the break.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

Loud applause from the home fans greets half-time. The Football League's bottom club are standing toe-to-toe with their Premier League opponents.

  18. Postpublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

Leicester are dominating possession in the closing moments of the half but Gillingham remain organised and disciplined.

Kelechi Iheanacho tries an ambitious attempt from out wide but it's off target.

  19. Reading have goal disallowedpublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

Reading are in front.....no wait, it's flagged for offside.

The ball is fed out to full-back Kelvin Abrefa who fires an effort across goal to Femi Azeez who pokes home.

But the forward is in an offside position and throws his arms up into the air in frustration.

Still we play in the first-half.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Southampton

    All square at the break.

It looked like Palace would run away with it after taking the lead, but James Ward-Prowse's wind-assisted free-kick means Saints are firmly in this.

They've battled back well, to be fair to the visitors.
