    Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

Tottenham end the half with a corner but the referee quickly blows for a foul on goalkeeper Joshua Griffiths and that will be that.

League One Portsmouth reach the interval level with Premier League Spurs.

    Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

Man for man, Gillingham are competing on the pitch. It has been an excellent first-half performance from them. Leicester are just struggling to break them down due to a lack of creativity and invention.

    Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

Son Heung-min tries to curl one in from the edge of the box. We've seen those fly into the top corner before! This one bends wide of the target, just before a single minute of added time is announced to the crowd.

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Southampton

Oh, so close! Nearly an own goal by Southampton!

Michael Olise's cross flicks off the head of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and drifts just past the far post of the Saints goal.

    Gillingham 0-0 Leicester

Will Gillingham get to half-time on level terms? They very nearly fashion an opening as Shaun Williams nods across the six yard box but Daniel Iversen is alert to gather.

First big chance at Deepdale and it's fallen to Huddersfield with 20-year-old forward Tyreece Simpson hitting the corner of the woodwork with a left-footed dink.

Preston switched off as a cross from the Terriers came in from Sorba Thomas. They got away with one there.

Meanwhile in Reading's match with Watford it's still the Royals who are on top but they have nothing to show for their dominance.

Gillingham will be looking to nick something in these last five minutes or so.

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Southampton

After booing their own team's aimless punts into the Palace box earlier, the Saints supporters are now cheering the home side's failed attempts to fashion anything. Joel Ward's poor cross from the right bounces straight to Gavin Bazunu. What a difference a goal can make.

Less than five minutes until the break. Can Portsmouth ensure their good work is not undone before then? Tottenham are dominating possession and territory but still the League One side stand firm.

A lofted delivery into the box by Marc Albrighton, who is captaining Leicester today, but Kasey McAteer takes his eye off the ball and a big chance goes begging. Cheers from the home fans.

Harry Kane has been quiet in this first half. Portsmouth have done a really good job on him and Tottenham have found it difficult to go through those central areas. A lot of their best work has been done out wide.

Gillingham will be happy with this. Leicester are dominating but they're not really going anywhere.

    Tottenham 0-0 Portsmouth

Joe Morrell gets stuck in for Portsmouth.

His first tackle on Harry Kane is great, but he's late with his second on Son Heung-min.

Spurs will have a free-kick in a useful position here as a result. Kane stands over it, but his set-piece hits the wall and Davinson Sanchez heads wide from a follow-up cross.

    Well, this changes things.

Palace looked so comfortable for much of this half, but now they have an opponent with the bit between their teeth.

Joyous singing has replaced disgruntled booing from the away end.

Antonio Conte is encouraging his players to keep going with less than 10 first-half minutes left to break the deadlock.

They're pushing, but Portsmouth look really well organised and have comfortably dealt with everything that has been thrown at them so far. Goalkeeper Joshua Griffiths gets a glove to help Ryan Sessegnon's cross away from goal.

GOAL - Crystal Palace 1-1 Southamptonpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    James Ward-Prowse

    Saints are level!

I think we call this wind assisted! James Ward-Prowse was always the most likely to deliver for the visitors but maybe not like this.

His free-kick is meant as a cross, but is caught by the breeze and loops over everyone in the box, skips on and finds the far corner of Vicente Guaita's net.

A bit of fortune but it is exactly what Southampton and their boss need right now.

The game's first yellow card goes to Joel Ward, who slides in and takes down Joe Aribo. There are small signs of Southampton posing a threat now. Just small signs, mind, but baby steps and all that.
