That was patient play by Portsmouth. They had lots of bodies in the box but were patient with their approach, switching the ball to the far side. And some direct play by Owen Dale forced a corner.

Son Heung-min is allowed time out on the left to make his next move, opting to swing in a cross that lands in the arms of Portsmouth stopper Joshua Griffiths.

Owen Dale then tries to do better in the same position for Portsmouth, but Emerson gets across to block. The League One side are getting closer to a hard-earned half-time break.

Gillingham have been really well organised defensively. The problem is scoring goals. They've got just seven in the league, the lowest ever in EFL history. They are hoping that Brad Galinson will change the fortunes of the club at least in the short-term.

This is a bit better from the visitors.

Samuel Edozie is fouled in the Palace half for a free-kick that James Ward-Prowse whips in. Joel Ward is first to it and heads away, but at least there was a small bit of attacking intent from Saints.
