Match postponed - Forest Green v Birmingham (12:30 GMT)

In classic FA Cup third-round style, we've lost one game already to the elements.

A waterlogged pitch has done for Forest Green v Birmingham, so 22 ties become 21.

Palace are in a relatively decent position in the Premier League as it stands and so they've gone pretty strong with a view to a good Cup run. Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise, Jordan Ayew and plenty of other first-team regulars start. There's a chance for Will Hughes to impress in midfield.

Southampton have gone pretty strong too, with a few opportunities handed out here and there. Nathan Jones' lads really do need a win, regardless of the competition.

  3. A busy daypublished at 11:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

Today, we have 21 ties to cover, spread across the day.

Unusually, in this year's third round we have five all-Premier League ties, which somewhat reduces the capacity for shocks.

Some of the games to possibly look out for if upsets are your thing are Chesterfield v West Brom, Leicester at Gillingham, Tottenham hosting Portsmouth, Boreham Wood against Accrington Stanley, Coventry taking on Wrexham and Newcastle at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Spurs-Pompey game is one of six we have at 12:30 GMT so there's little time to waste!

  4. One of the biggest days in the football calendarpublished at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

Here we are again. FA Cup third-round Saturday. Is there a day that feels quite as enshrined in English football folklore as this? The wet, muddy pitches, the small, hostile grounds, the postmen, shop assistants and builders making a name for themselves against the pros.

It is a day when we all tune in hoping to see upsets (as long as it doesn't happen to your club). One haunted by the glorious ghosts of shocks past. Mickey Thomas against Arsenal, Ronnie Radford's long-range strike, Jermaine Beckford in front of the Stretford End.
