  1. 'I am still so proud of these players'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    FT: Everton 1-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BT Sport: "We had loads of the ball but we lacked that purpose and quality in the final third, we generated many chances. But then we conceded and they slowed the game down and we struggled.

"They do this to every team that is their strength with the height, the physicality is their strength, if you want to control the game against them you have to control this. We did not do that today.

"We needed more composure and to control emotionally the game better. We gave away so many unnecessary free-kicks and that's what they want.

"Today I love them much better than the week before or a month ago. It is easy to be next to someone when they are winning well. I am still so proud of all of these players, they deserve it.

"This is not going to be a rose pathway. This is going to be tricky and we will have to dig in and play much better than we did today."

  2. What form are they in?published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Man UtdImage source, .

The form book is pretty clear on this one.

Fourth-placed Manchester United have won 12 consecutive home games in all competitions, their best streak since a run of 20 from December 2010 to September 2011 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

They have conceded just one goal in their last five home league matches.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace - who are 12th - have taken just two points from the last 12 available and are yet to win in any competition in 2023.

They have failed to score in five of their past seven Premier League games.

  3. 'I love Moises' - De Zerbi on Caicedopublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Brighton v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi says there is no ill-feeling towards Moises Caicedo despite him publicly declaring his wish to leave the club in the final days of the transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Brighton's match against Bournemouth on Saturday, De Zerbi said: "I am happy that Moises has stayed with us. I want to speak to our fans to support him. I love Moises.

"Everyone in the club loves him and I want the fans to follow me."

He also made sure to differentiate between this situation and that which saw Leandro Trossard leave the club and move to Arsenal.

"Moises is a good guy. In other times I've spoken about other players, but he's different," he said.

Despite this, De Zerbi does not know which of his star players will remain at the club past the summer.

"I'm very proud of this squad and it's an honour for me to coach these players," added De Zerbi.

"I think we can fight to achieve a big target. At the right moment, I will speak to Tony (Bloom) about transfers and the future markets."

    • Aston Villa have won two of their past four Premier League games against Leicester, having won just four of their first 22 against them in the competition (D9 L9).
    • The Foxes have won two of their past three away Premier League games against Villa, as many as in their first 10 visits in the competition. However, they did lose this fixture last season.
    • Aston Villa have won five of their seven Premier League games under Unai Emery - as many victories as in their previous 24. However, both games they’ve failed to win have been at home.
    • Since the Premier League restarted after the World Cup, no team has lost more games (four) or won fewer points (1) than Leicester, while only Everton (11) have conceded more goals than their 10. The Foxes won four of their five matches immediately before the break, keeping a clean sheet in each victory.
  5. Martial misses outpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Anthony Martial's absence is a significant blow to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag regards the Frenchman as his best number nine and a key figure in his side.

But Martial cannot string a run of games together.

After playing five times in a row immediately after the World Cup, Martial missed four games before returning against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday and now he is out again.

"We have to not force it," Ten Hag has just told MUTV.

  6. 'I can only see a Brighton win'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Brighton v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Bournemouth signed a few players in January and I already like the look of Dango Ouattara, who set up a goal on his debut for the Cherries when they drew with Nottingham Forest last time out.

It looks like they are going to have a go at staying up but whether that works out or not will depend on how quickly those new faces gel.

I don't see them getting anything here, for starters, because of how good we know Brighton are. I love watching them under Roberto de Zerbi and I can only see a Seagulls victory here.

    Prediction: 3-0

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on Football Focus

For Casemiro, he probably saw the move to Man Utd as a chance to become significant somewhere else.

He didn't leave Real Madrid and go to a team languishing in mid-table with no desire. United want to be where Real Madrid are now. I think it has ended up being a great signing, he's doing very very well.

You can see from his goals that he is not just a holding midfielder, he is getting involved and chipping in at big moments so you can see why the fans love him over there.

  9. Palace's superb United recordpublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

It's only two-and-a-half weeks since Crystal Palace ended Manchester United's winning run thanks to Michael Olise's stunning last-minute free-kick at Selhurst Park.

That is part of an excellent recent Palace record against United.

They won one and lost one last year and the season before won at Old Trafford and drew on home soill.

Still, it would be a major shock if Patrick Vieira's side were to deny Erik ten Hag's side three points today.

    .

Liverpool could slip into the bottom half of the table if they fail to win today, while there are some unwanted statistics that Jurgen Klopp will be keen to avoid picking up.

A defeat today would mark the first time since 2012 they have lost three Premier League away games in a row, while if they concede they will equal the amount of goals they let in throughout the whole of last season - 26.

Interestingly, Fabinho has been left completely out of the squad today as Klopp appears to be making some bold decisions to try and stop the rot.

  12. Sutton's predictionpublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Aston Villa v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

Leicester still haven't won a Premier League game since the World Cup and are getting a bit desperate, although at least their draw with Leeds stopped a run of four straight league losses.

Villa, in contrast, have won three and drawn one of their past four games and, on current form, they have to be favourites here.

But the Foxes still have some good players and James Maddison should be fit enough to start - he might just make the difference.

    Schak's prediction: 1-1

  13. Familiar opponents at Molineuxpublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    Wolves v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

This is the third meeting between Wolves and Liverpool in 28 days.

Liverpool won 1-0 in their FA Cup third-round replay in January after the teams drew 2-2 in the first tie.

The Reds' form hasn't been great this season but they have a good record against Wolves in the league.

They have won their last 11 Premier League matches against them, conceding just three goals.

Wolves themselves have been struggling and they sit just one place above the relegation zone.

However, they ended a run of four straight home league defeats by beating West Ham in their most recent top-flight game at Molineux.

  14. Munich rememberedpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Manchester United will pay tribute to the victims of the Munich Air Disaster at today’s game against Crystal Palace.

The match programme has a picture of the team who played the game against Red Star Belgrade on the front cover, together with the Munich clock set at the time the crash happened in 1958.

There will be a minute’s silence before the game, both teams will wear black armbands and respective managers Erik ten Hag and Patrick Vieira will lay wreaths.

In his programme notes, Ten Hag starts with this: “Today, as we welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford, we must first stop to pay our respects to those who lost their lives in the Munich Air Disaster.

“This year marks the 65th anniversary of the crash and it is clearly a chapter in the club’s history which must always be remembered and respected.”

The actual anniversary is on 6 February.

    Everton

Everton goalscorer James Tarkowski speaking to BT Sport: "It has been tough for us and the fans and for all the staff in the club. Hopefully this is the turning point for the club, there is a lot of talent here.

"It's taken me a while, I need to score more. What a great time to do it and a great day. It's back to work on Monday and we crack on.

"We've lacked that little bit of grit at times and that's what the fans want. We've seen what it's all about today."

Everton winger Dwight McNeil speaking to BT Sport: "We know how good they are as a team, but we also know how good we are a team as well with all the chances we had."

  16. Coming up next...published at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

A big result at the bottom for Everton and there are a few teams in action at 3pm hoping to have a similar outcome.

We've got five matches up next including Wolves, Bournemouth and Southampton - all sitting in the relegation zone.

Stick around for reaction from Goodison Park but we'll start building up to the other matches now.

A massive day for Everton! Sean Dyche starts with a win, given to them by a highly-organised and committed performance.

James Tarkowski's header from a corner the difference.

Arsenal suffer just their second league loss of the season. The Gunners were poor. Very poor. By the end of this weekend, their lead at the top could be down to two points.

Jon: Are Arsenal still a great side - yes! Are teams just going to rollover for them - no! Are Everton just being annoying - no, good to see some fight in them!

Anon: As an Arsenal fan, I would like to say well done Everton for setting up to play against our style of play. I saw the setup and knew it was coming! By far am I knocking our title credentials as we have been a different team all season, rather than have patchy moments throughout we are having a patch quite far in, we will pick ourselves back up!
