  1. PL clubs have ability to 'distort market'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy says he understands fans calling for more spending but warns a few Premier League clubs now have the "ability to distort the market".

In a statement with Spurs' latest financial results, Levy said the level of spending in the top flight is "unsustainable" for most clubs.

He also admitted some recent signings have not worked out as planned.

"The landscape of the Premier League has changed significantly," said Levy.

"It is understandable that some fans call for more spending, much of which is unsustainable for many clubs.

"We are competing in a league in which we have seen increased sovereign wealth ownership and consortia finance; and in a league where the spending power is now vested in the hands of a few who dominate and have the ability to distort the market."

  2. 'Controlling nerves in derby game'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

Crystal Palace v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira speaking to BBC Sport: "It is an important game for the fans but a derby game is about controlling your nerves.

"We will be up for it but it is important for us to concentrate on the way we want to play.

"They have been really good, playing well and scoring goals but when it is a derby it is about commitment and respecting the game plan and playing with passion."

  3. 'A huge week for Arsenal'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Arsenal v Brentford (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC Final Score

I think it is a case of how you respond. Everton were unrecognisable on the day and it was a stern test for a young group. Today is about bouncing back.

It's a huge week for Arsenal, two home games with Manchester City in midweek as well. There's a lot of talk about Man City and whether they are going to be galvanised.

Brentford's front players are really strong, physical and intelligent, they can score goals. Arsenal have to be about their game today but because it's at home, I'm backing them to win today.

Something special could happen for Arsenal and they need to build on it today.

  4. 'We have everything to do a big rest of the season'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Joao Felix speaking to BT Sport: “I think we did a great game and controlled the game. They scored when we were good but that is football. We had chances to score but we go strong for the game.

“We fought for the three points but I think we are strong for the next match. I feel comfortable playing in that team. There is so much quality it is unbelievable and now we need to fight together and we have everything to do a big rest of the season.”

    West Ham United

West Ham defender Emerson Palmieri speaking to BT Sport: “We are friends. It is football but without football we are friends. I’m happy for the goal. I can’t explain the sensation but it is so, so good to score against them.

“There were a lot of emotions before the game and I score my first goal in the Premier League against Chelsea so I am very happy. Of course I have a lot of respect for them but today I think it is my day.

“It was a tough game. They played very well and we suffered a lot but it is an important point against a big team.

“When you play against the big team with a lot of quality you have to stay with high concentration for the 90 minutes. We feel it is an important point for us.”

  7. 'Saliba's performances have been remarkable'published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Arsenal v Brentford (15:00 GMT)

    Julien Laurens
French football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

William Saliba has the leadership qualities to impose himself, he is a very good defender, got the physical skills, he is very strong and scoring goals.

To do that at a young age and to put up the performances he has done for Arsenal has been remarkable.

For William he had no fear. I spoke to him before his first day of training and he was ready to go and was so excited. He kind of knew he was going to succeed and that it was the right time for him to come.

  8. 'Only way is up for Wolves now'published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Southampton v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Kevin Campbell
Former Everton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Julen Lopetegui is a very good manager. Wolves waited their time for him and there's a lot to say about the club when they are patient.

They took their time and they are getting their rewards. Wolves have a very good squad and to beat Liverpool so convincingly shows the only way is up for Wolves now.

It seems like wolves have cracked it with Lopetegui.

    Southampton v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Football Focus

Wolves' levels on concentration have gone up out of possession under Julen Lopetegui. They look more organised than they have done for some time and looking at the training ground, it looks a very happy place.

When you've got good players and they're smiling and enjoying their football under the new manager. You don't see that very often.

  11. 'Difficult to predict the atmosphere'published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Southampton v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Wise
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator at St Mary's

It’s difficult to predict how the atmosphere will be at kick-off at St Mary’s.

If you’re an advocate for Nathan Jones around here right now, then it’s safe to say you’re in the minority.

It’s a bit of a cliche to say ‘the first goal will be important’, but it certainly is for Jones today.

That’s mainly because Southampton are yet to do that in the Premier League since he took charge.

How was that not handball? How was it not clear and obvious to VAR? what is the point of VAR? Absolute joke decision.

What do you think? Thumbs up for a penalty, thumbs down for the referee's decision.
