Steve: Somewhat ironic that Bill Kenwright feels able to watch Everton at Anfield but not at Goodison.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Fabinho gets away with one.

He gives the ball away in his own half and then Everton play a quick move, but the pass runs through to Alisson.

Amadou Onana isn't giving up on it though, sliding in and catching the Brazil goalkeeper.

Referee Simon Hooper strides over and has a word with the Belgian.

Not sure if it was a 50/50, bit of a naughty one from the Everton midfielder.

Good handling from Jordan Pickford, skipping off his line to collect Trent Alexander-Arnold's vicious cross into the box.

Should score, should be his first Liverpool goal.

Liverpool are in a fight here tonight.

A number of times Everton defenders have been aggressive in the challenge and managing to nick the ball away.

Scrappy and not much to talk about - perhaps a reflection of the disappointing league positions of Liverpool and Everton.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is in attendance at Anfield. He, and the rest of the club's board, have not attended the last two games at Goodison Park because of security concerns.

Excellent defending from Seamus Coleman, standing up to Darwin Nunez and then dispossessing the Liverpool forward down the left flank.

The long-serving Everton skipper making sure his opponent was going to go nowhere.

So disappointing from Mohamed Salah, a flat free-kick is straight into the wall.

A dart from Darwin Nunez draws in three Everton defenders and the Uruguayan is tripped right on the edge of the box by James Tarkowski sliding in.

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's going to be an interesting start, Liverpool are starting to get the ball and moving it around. Trying to find gaps that Everton might leave. They know that Everton are going to press and be up for it.

Set up wise, it's as expected. Nunez just going off the left hand side, Gakpo is central but I reckon they'll switch. Three in midfield and everything similar to last week.

  14. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Plenty of Liverpool players have been far from their best this season and that includes Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian finds a pass on the edge of the area and then opens up a yard for himself inside the area, but loses his footing at the vital moment to scuff a shot wide.

Playing in form and full of confidence, those are in the back of the net.

  15. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Liverpool's defending against Wolves in the last game was woeful and there is further evidence of that as Joel Matip completely misses the ball while attempting to clear.

It falls for Ellis Simms on the edge of the box, the Everton striker takes a touch but sees a thumping drive well blocked by Joe Gomez.

    A let-off for the hosts.
