Erling Haaland scored three times in August's 6-0 win against Forest.

Emmanuel Adebayor, for Arsenal against Derby in 2007-08, is the only player to date to hit two Premier League hat-tricks against the same side in a season.

Haaland's total of 26 Premier League goals is the joint highest by a Manchester City player in a season, matching Sergio Aguero's final tally in 2014-15.

Champions in the making, eh? Manchester City will be trying to earn that description themselves with an impressive performance at Forest.

Great performance from the Arsenal - Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli pure class today, looking like champions in the making. Not an Arsenal fan but loved it!

Villa losing two leads here and not at least seeing out a draw with a few minutes left is criminal. That is why we are destined to never get above mid table mediocrity. Complete lack of game management.

  4. 'That's why it's the best league in the world'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 2-4 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho tells BT Sport: "That’s the Premier League. That’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s just beautiful.

"It was very important after the last results we had. The start wasn't easy when we were not producing our game. We came in at half-time, had a chat and then we went back doing the basics we need to do and changed the game."

On his shot going in off Emiliano Martinez for Arsenal's pivotal third goal: "The last time I hit the post and it went back off the keeper it didn’t go in so I’m glad today it did."

  5. 'We need to keep going, keep fighting and keep believing'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 2-4 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Oleksandr Zinchenko tells BT Sport: "From this game I would like to say two things. First we took an unbelievable lesson for all of us that we need to believe until the very end. Like I said in the past, this group has such amazing people, can achieve everything they want. If we are going to keep fighting and keep believing. The reaction from all of us in the second half is a perfect way to go."

On his first Gunners goal: "I’m so happy to help with my goal but most important is to take the three points."

What the win will do for morale: "We would like to go in the dressing room as soon as possible but there are still a lot of games to play and we just need to keep going, keep fighting and keep believing we can do everything."

Southampton moved really quickly to try and appoint a replacement for Nathan Jones. They were in talks with the former Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch but they broke down on Wednesday reportedly due to the final detail in the contract they were negotiating.

They are bottom of the Premier League, four points from safety and have won just four of their 22 league games. That said, one of those wins did come against Chelsea.

    Chelsea v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on Football Focus

Chelsea are starting to look better. For all their spending, how they didn't buy a number nine is crazy. That is the position most needed at Chelsea. Is it a number nine problem at Chelsea or is it a Graham Potter problem? He had the same problems at Brighton in terms that they were really good at keeping possession but didn't really create much in that final third. Chelsea seem to have that problem now.

  10. 'Season done with at Chelsea'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

    Chelsea v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on Football Focus

This season is done with from a Chelsea point of view. They have the Champions League to play for. There is no reason why they would get rid of Graham Potter now. There is lack of a number nine but at some point you have to stand up and be counted as a player

    Everton v Leeds (15:00 GMT)

Everton have the worst goalscoring record in the division this season, with their 16 goals coming from 10 players. Only Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and Dwight McNeil have netted more than once.

They have scored multiple goals in only two of their 22 league games: a 2-1 win at Southampton and 3-0 home victory versus Crystal Palace, both in October.

  12. Skubala has 'taken pressure off' Leeds playerspublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

    Everton v Leeds (15:00 GMT)

    Michael SkubalaImage source, .

Interim boss Michael Skubala has taken the pressure off the Leeds players as they prepare to face relegation rivals Everton, says striker Patrick Bamford.

The Under-21s boss is in charge for a third time, following a draw and defeat by Manchester United, while Leeds try to replace Jesse Marsch.

Bamford told BBC Radio Leeds: "Things have changed. The atmosphere was always good here but I feel like with Skoobs it is relaxed now.

    "The lads love him."

An Everton win on Saturday would take them out of the relegation zone, with Leeds taking their place in the bottom three.

Bamford continued: "He has taken the pressure away and he's put his own imprint on things but also included the players within the discussions.

"The fact he got us so organised against Manchester United in the two games, especially the home game, we looked really good. That's just made the board more confident and it's put an extreme amount of confidence from the players in him.

    Everton v Leeds (15:00 GMT)

The Leeds players know the importance of today's game, of course, but the smile on Tyler Adams' face as he warms up at Goodison indicates there is no stress - as previous boss Jesse Marsch used to talk often about - about what's coming up.

And according to Patrick Bamford, caretaker boss Michael Skubala has helped relieve the strain...

  14. Minor injury for Mitrovicpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

    Brighton v Fulham (15:00 GMT)

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva on top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic's absence: "He got a minor injury in the warm-up during the Nottingham Forest game. He was able to play the match almost until the end, he did a big effort for the team as always.

"During the week we assessed him and he was not in condition to play. Probably a minor injury and for the game this afternoon he wasn't prepared."

Two surprise packages in this meeting - sixth v seventh.

Brighton are the only Premier League side still unbeaten in all competitions in 2023, having won five and drawn two of their seven matches this year.

Fulham's tally of 35 points is the most by a newly promoted side after 23 games of a Premier League season since Wigan's 37 in 2005-06.
