Miguel Almiron fouls Mohamed Salah just outside the penalty area and is booked.

Funnily there was an offside in the build-up so if Almiron had let Salah go on and score the goal would have been disallowed by VAR.

Newcastle United's fans are trying to rally their side but the atmosphere has gone from celebratory to flat and even the prospect of next week's Wembley trip has been soured by Nick Pope's red card, which means he misses the EFL Cup final.

Will be some recovery if they get something out of this.

Nick Pope touched the ball five times, including that handball, and Elliot Anderson had eight touches before being replaced.

From the corner a couple of Newcastle players have efforts blocked.

Almost a brilliant goal from Allan Saint-Maximin. He runs onto a long ball down the right and beats Andy Robertson three times maybe before cutting in and blasting a shot which Alisson tips onto the bar and over.
