  1. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

Callum Wilson nearly gets a goal against his former side, but volleys over the top with a tricky chance for Newcastle.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Wolves 0-0 Gillingham

Wolves' Ruben Neves, a man reportedly on Barcelona's Christmas shopping list, tries his luck with a low direct free-kick from 30 yards out. It fizzes past the wall, but, unfortunately for him, it's just past the post and we remain goalless at Molineux.

  3. 'It feels very harsh on MK Dons'published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    MK Dons 0-2 Leicester

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

You just know it, you've seen it a million times. It could've been a foul at the other end and as soon as Ayoze Perez got in the 18-yard box there was no doubt that he was going to finish it. It feels very harsh on MK Dons.

  4. goal

GOAL - MK Dons 0-2 Leicesterpublished at 29 mins

    Ayoze Perez

Leicester double their lead at Stadium MK and it looks like there's not going to be a shock there.

Youri Tielemans scored their first and Ayoze Perez has made it 2-0 with a lovely goal.

Luke Thomas' pass sees Perez take it out of the sky, produces a deft touch, cuts inside and curls the ball into the net.

MK Dons are left unhappy as they were claiming a foul from Leicester's Wout Faes, but it was not given and it's 0-2.

  5. DISALLOWED GOAL - Newcastlepublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

England striker Callum Wilson has the ball in the net for the hosts but his celebrations are cut short by a very late flag as it's classed as offside. As you were.

  6. goal

GOAL - Southampton 1-1 Lincolnpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Che Adams (Southampton)

Lincoln's lead doesn't last long. Che Adams, maybe fortunate to not be offside and there's no VAR to change any decision, gets his head on the end of a cross from Mohamed Elyounoussi and guides the ball past Carl Rushworth in the Lincoln goal.

  7. Postpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Wolves 0-0 Gillingham

Not been the bright start Julen Lopetegui would have hoped for at Molineux.

  8. Postpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

Chances for both sides at St James' Park.

Jaidon Anthony plays a diagonal ball into Wales striker Kieffer Moore and he knocked it down for Ryan Christie, who was just unable to get on the end of it for Bournemouth.

At the other end, Fabian Schar had a go from 25 yards out but his fierce strike was just wide.

  9. 'It was coming'published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    MK Dons 0-1 Leicester

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was absolutely coming. They've been the better side. Jamie Vardy has a big chance, he goes for the skill and once it falls to Tielemans who's an immaculate footballer, there's no doubt that he's missing.

  10. goal

GOAL - MK Dons 0-1 Leicesterpublished at 18 mins

    Youri Tielemans

Leicester strike first at Stadium MK. Belgium's Youri Tielemans, who only scores good goals, is there to put away a rebound after Jamie Vardy's flick was saved by Jamie Cumming following a bright Foxes move down the left flank and a cross from Harvey Barnes.

  11. Postpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

We all know how good Kieran Trippier is with a set piece and he has a great chance to give Newcastle the lead when they get a free-kick on the edge of the area. But the England man can't hit the target.

  12. 'All Leicester'published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    MK Dons 0-0 Leicester

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think MK Dons and Bradley Johnson are going to have to suffer this evening. Their shape is good but they're not seeing much of the ball. It's all Leicester.

  13. Postpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    MK Dons 0-0 Leicester

Ayoze Perez and Timothy Castagne have had early chances for Leicester at Stadium MK, but neither tested home goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.

  14. Postpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Wolves 0-0 Gillingham

Diego Costa is yet to score this season for Wolves and his next goal in English football will be his first since scoring in the 2017 FA Cup final for Chelsea.

Costa has had an attempt at goal, but it hit Max Ehmer and ran for a corner.

Wolves have been dominating the ball, as you'd expect against their League Two opponents, but goalless still at Molineux.

  15. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Southampton 0-1 Lincoln

It's been a great start for Lincoln, who have a goal at St Mary's and are pushing for a second.

A strike from Danny Mandroiu was deflected behind for a corner and it's been a tough beginning for Nathan Jones in his opening home game as Saints boss.

  16. 'Gillingham haven't had a touch'published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Wolves 0-0 Gillingham

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's going to be very difficult for Gillingham. They've put a back five in and haven't had a touch of the ball. Wolves are playing with better pace and tempo.

  17. goal

GOAL - Southampton 0-1 Lincolnpublished at 2 mins

    Bazunu (own goal)

What a start to the evening's action.

League One Lincoln win a corner and swing it in from the left. It falls to Southampton's Ainsley Maitland-Niles, he slices it high and backwards inside his own penalty area and goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, under pressure from Paudie O'Connor, can't keep it out and it is in the net.

It's been given as a Bazunu own goal, but that may well change.

And away we go. Four matches. Any shocks coming up?

  19. Guimaraes 'focused on Newcastle'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

    Newcastle v Bournemouth (19:45 GMT)

Eddie Howe is hoping Bruno Guimaraes can shake off his World Cup disappointment to resume his status as Newcastle’s talisman as they look to end their trophy drought.

The 25-year-old Brazil midfielder, who has made a huge impact on Tyneside since his £35m arrival from Lyon in January, was used only twice from the bench in Qatar and was criticised in the media back at home for his contribution as his country were knocked out in the quarter-finals.

Howe said: “He’s fine physically. He’s obviously disappointed to not reach the latter stages of the World Cup with his country. Their dream was to win the tournament, but he’s focused now on Newcastle and that’s very important for all the players, to put all that behind them and take what positives they can.”

Asked if Guimaraes had to prove he should have been used more by Brazil boss Tite, Howe added: “That’s all he can do, continue his form from earlier in the season. For me, he has been outstanding for us. He had a small injury at the start of the season, but once he got his fitness back, he has been incredible.

“I hope we get to see the same Bruno come back because he is a massive presence in our team.”

  20. 'Leicester need to start well'published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 20 December 2022

MK Dons v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's very weird that it's back so quickly and that will be part of Brendan Rodgers' team-talk. Some of his players were at the World Cup, he will have had a group of players who he's been working with over the past few weeks.

His attitude won't be about the physical but the mental: make sure you start well, don't feel sorry for yourself that it was the World Cup a couple of days ago and now you're playing at MK Dons.

It's all about the start. If Leicester start well then they win the game.
