Wrexham co-owner and Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, speaking to Gary Lineker on BBC One at the Racecourse Ground:

"Genuinely speaking it has been the greatest experience of my entire life [getting involved with Wrexham]. This adventure has been unlike anything else. I love it because it's a project that's going to be multi-decades.

"I met a supporter the other day whose grandfather's ashes were scattered across the pitch. I look at this place as like a church."

Everything about this Liverpool side seems end of an era at the moment. Maybe Klopp's taken them as far as he can. They've stopped running through walls for him and it's reflecting where they are currently.

    Brian, Barrow.

Sad to say, but Klopp is finished at Liverpool. Looks like he is unable to motivate the players anymore. Tuchel in please!

9 months ago Liverpool were challenging for 4 trophies. Now we couldn't challenge for a game of pub skittles. Defence looks really ropey. Teams like Arsenal and Man Utd beware- if you don't recruit when at the top you go backwards.

  6. 'It doesn't feel great'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp tells Radio 5 Live: "We came here after a game a few weeks ago when we weren't even close to ourselves.

"Today we played a better game but we concede two goals from set-pieces and that is not allowed in any way.

"On the left side Robbo was ok because we helped him but on the other side Trent didn't get the support.

"Mitoma is really good so, of course, it was tough.

"We could have defended both goals better.

"The first is deflected but we can probably block the shot.

"It doesn't feel great. In time we might see the positives but we wanted to get the next round. Congratulations to Brighton."

Wrexham v Sheff Utd (16:30 GMT)

Wrexham's FA Cup journey began in the fourth qualifying round where they got past Blyth Spartans in a replay.

They subsequently beat Oldham 3-0 and thrashed Farnborough 4-1 before pulling off a shock 4-3 win at Championship side Coventry.

And they also come into this contest having not lost in 90 minutes since 4 October having won 16 of their 20 matches in that period. Definitely not a side that Sheffield United and their manager Paul Heckingbottom will be taking lightly.

Good Wrexham side that. The days of black boots eh.

Bryan Hughes went on to play in the Premier League, while fellow midfielder Dave Brammer was a very good player as well.

They also had the likes of Mark McGregor, Craig Skinner, Karl Connolly, Kevin Russell and Lee Jones.

Wrexham are looking to reach the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign, when they got to the quarter-finals.

They are the first non-league side to score three or more goals in each of the first, second and third rounds of the FA Cup in a season (excluding replays) since Farnborough in 2002-03.

FA Cup highlights: Coventry City 3-4 Wrexham

A huge day for Wrexham, the last surviving non-league team left in the FA Cup after knocking out Championship club Coventry City.

The team from the fifth-tier National League have become big news since Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's shock takeover two years ago.

The pair brought a camera crew along to document their first full season in charge, with the hit series Welcome to Wrexham watched by millions in the United States.

As a result, the north Wales club - close to extinction as recently as 2011 - have attracted a legion of fans from North America and a follow-up series is due for release later in 2023.

"Our job is to make sure the second series is as exciting as possible," says Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, whose side face Sheffield United for a place in the last 16.

"There are a few good episodes on our FA Cup run alone."

  18. 'We let the fans down'published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool's Andrew Robertson tells ITV: "Bitterly disappointing. I thought it was a good cup tie, end to end and both had chances.

"We were more competitive than two weeks ago but that didn't take much. We created chances and were more compact but at the end of the day we are out of the cup.

"At a club like Liverpool, fans expect a lot and to lose with the last kick of the ball it's disappointing. We need to start winning games. It's easy to say but harder to fix.

"This season has been nowhere near good enough. At the start of the year, we wanted a fresh start but that hasn't happened. We've been worse. In the league, we haven't been good enough and now we're out of both cups now.

"You can't put your finger on one thing, it's more than that. You can tell we're not as confident in front of goal and in defence we are a wee bit open. We had two clean sheets coming into today but then go and concede two goals.

"We need to get the confidence back, it's easier said than done, and that's how we will get results.

"We need to do it quick and we're not. That it doesn't help the fans, I'm sorry for them and the way we are putting on a show. We let them down again."
