  6. 'We need to keep pushing on'published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2023

    FT Brighton 2-1 Liverpool

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's Lewis Dunk on ITV: "Sometimes you have to win a game like that. We weren't great today but managed to grind it out against a top side. They are top players and top strikers, especially after the win 15 days ago when we were very good and beat them.

"We knew they wanted to come back but we dug in. We feel like we can beat anyone on our best days and we showed here we can do it on our not so good days. We just need to keep pushing on."

On Kaoru Mitoma: "It's nice to have him in our side, I'm glad I'm not chasing him. He's a top player and he's come out of nowhere. We are lucky to have him in our team and hopefully we can keep him. We'll take it game by game."

On his goal: "Of course I didn't [mean it], it just hit me but I needed one like that it has been a while."

    Stoke 1-0 Stevenage

Stoke still looking in very good shape. Stevenage have not really found a way to put any pressure on the hosts and until a moment ago had not managed a shot on target in this contest.

There are just under 25 minutes left for the League Two high flyers to try and find a way back into this.

Still anyone remember what happened at Villa Park?

The good news for Liverpool is they don't have to play Brighton again this season. Who would have thought the Seagulls would cause the Reds so many problems? Thoroughly deserved.

A sensational game. I couldn't have believed it would be this good.

It's had the lot; skill, ability and some dodgy tackling.

Brighton are a credit to their club and their fans today.

Sho PS: £4.9m for Mitoma from J1 side Kawasaki Frontale. Brighton's scouting network is unreal.

Peter Malathssss: Mitoma... out here making Joe Gomes look like a Sunday league defender. Man is a Liverpool nemesis.

    What a brilliant goal.

A goal fitting to win a cup tie like this.

A free kick to the far post, Estupinian does well to put it back across goal and then it's a great finish from Mitoma.

    It's a sumptuous finish. What a winner!
