Lafferty loses his orientation in the box, and it's come off his foot at the back post. It's a decent ball in, but maybe one I'd expect the goalkeeper to come and deal with.

    Celtic 1-0 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock hit back but it's not enough to draw level. Alan Power's free-kick is headed at goal by Lewis Mayo. Another cross comes in to the box in the swirling rain and lands at the feet of Kyle Lafferty but he doesn't have time to direct it properly at Joe Hart's goal.

Aaron Mooy takes a free-kick from the right wing. It looked like Kyle Lafferty had turned the ball into his own net, but in fact it deflected off Daizen Maeda.

Kilmarnock seem to be giving Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers the opportunity to come forward but there comes a point when you're 30 yards from goal that somebody has to engage with the ball

  5. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

Liam Donnelly gets a warning after going through the back of Celtic full-back Alexandro Bernabei, the incident followed moments later by Killie left-back Ben Chrisene doing enough to put Celtic winger Jota off as he tried to reach the ball out on the right wing.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

Celtic captain Callum McGregor steals the ball down in the Kilmanock left-back position but the Ayrshiremen benefit from a slack pass and regain possession. Celtic are seeing more of the ball now but the fluency that typifies their play is not evident yet.

It's brilliant from Rory McKenzie. He steals the ball, drives forward and there's nothing else in his mind apart from trying to get the shot away and it's a fantastic save from Joe Hart

  11. Good save by Hartpublished at 6 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart does well to get down to his right to save a Rory McKenzie low drive. Celtic were slow to close him down and the Killie attacking midfielder took his chance to test the former England keeper, who turned it round the post.

  12. The vastness of Hampdenpublished at 4 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

Sometimes the Hampden pitch looks vast - this is one such occasion and Killie will have to find a way to close Celtic down on this heavy playing surface.

  13. Danny, champion of the world...published at 3 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

Or so it seems. Danny Armstrong is playing like a man possessed in these opening minutes. What pace, what enthusiasm. That's twice his pace has taken him clear down the right wing, twice he has cut on to his left foot. This time his cross was knocked out for a corner, which comes to nothing.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Celtic 0-0 Kilmarnock

The game begins in a whirlwind. Danny Armstrong does well down the right wing, cuts back on to his left foot and whips a lovely ball in to Kyle Vassell who is a few inches away from connecting, just six yards out.

  16. 'Cup semi differs from league match'published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Celtic v Kilmarnock (17:30)

Celtic may have worn Kilmarnock down last weekend with the 2-0 win in the league at Celtic Park, but Killie defender Ash Taylor thinks it has no bearing on the Hampden semi-final.

He said: "It is a different scenario, a semi-final, a cup game, you are at Hampden so it is a different environment.

"People will say it is a free hit, but in football you are not getting many free hits.

"It is a cup game and you want to go into the game thinking you can get to the final so you have to go in with as much confidence as you possibly can to try to get yourself there.

"Last weekend we put on a good performance and those moments where you switch off, they can punish you.

"It is important for us to concentrate throughout the whole 90 minutes and try and land a blow or two."

It seems a straightforward proposition for Celtic at a boisterous and weather beaten Hampden. Perform to their levels and they will most likely progress.

They know that and will have full focus on taking a step nearer another piece of silverware.

Kilmarnock know it will take every ounce of concentration, organisation and ability to come through this but what an opportunity for the Ayrshire club.

The swirling conditions might help them unsettled Celtic's rhythm. Beyond that, they need their big players to perform, with a burden of expectation on the returning Kyle Lafferty after his self-inflicted extended exile.

  18. Kilmarnock 'have to be clever'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Celtic v Kilmarnock (17:30)

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells Sportsound: "We don't have a lot of experience of players playing at Hampden.

"Kyle Lafferty's been training every day, though he doesn't have any match fitness. We feel we've made the necessary changes.

"We've going to have to be clever with our work in possession. It's every manager's job when they come up against Celtic to find a way to get a result.

"We want to be the best version of ourselves. We want to come back for the final next month and to do that we're going to have to overcome a very good side.

"I do think there's a performance in us. We have got that fighting chance."

  19. 'It might get a bit dicey'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Celtic v Kilmarnock (17:30)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been talking to BBC Radio Scotland ahead of kick-off, starting with the change at right-back:

"Josip's a fantastic player," he said on Sportsound. "Alistair has only played two games, and he was a bit sore earlier in the week - with Josip ready to go it made sense for us to make that change."

When asked about the speculation linking Juranovic with a move away from Celtic Park, Postecoglou added: "I'd be surprised if [Josip's] thinking about anything other than a cup semi-final.

"The conditions will play a part in the game, and we need to adjust. The adjustments need to be made within the context of the football we want to play. We won't change our approach. It might get a bit dicey with the wind and the rain, but we know what we need to do.

"You never get sick of winning at this football club. You don't want to do things differently, but you understand that there are consequences to not being successful today. You can't plan out how a game's going to go. We've got to keep clear heads, focus on our principles and get through it.

"They can come at us a little bit more freedom - we understand that. They've beaten some good teams to get here, but we've been consistent with our performances and our approach in every game, and we'll do that today."

  20. Mind games from Shiels back in 2012published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2023

    Celtic v Kilmarnock (17:30)

Reflecting on Kilmarnock's last trophy success, the League Cup win over Celtic in 2012, the former Rugby Park boss Kenny Shiels said he got his words right ahead of the game to pile the pressure on the favourites. Celtic went in to that final having won 21 and drawn one of their 22 domestic matches so far that season.

"The language which we used came to pass, we got it right, we got it nearly exactly right and we got a result when Celtic were the top team in Scotland," said Shiels.

Killie goalkeeper Cammy Bell reflected on the build-up: "Kenny used the press brilliantly. There were times he said things he probably shouldn't have and put himself under pressure, but he built all the pressure on Celtic, making sure everyone knew Celtic were favourites by miles.

"Kilmarnock were pretty much written off but internally, we were using that as fuel."
