Fulham controlled the opening stages and got an early goal courtesy of Harry Wilson but Sunderland ended the half strongly and are definitely not out of this.

Good defending from Kenny Tete. He uses his pace to chase down Jack Clarke and wins the ball. The Sunderland winger clips his heels as he tries to recover it and it's a free-kick in the Fulham box.

Tom Cairney is a difficult man to pin down.

He's really good at finding space to operate in and that's when he takes control of the game.

Harry Wilson waves his arms in frustration as he wants runners in front of him. In the end, Fulham go all the way back to Shane Duffy and play it around the back, unwilling to take any risks with half-time approaching.

Josh Bunting: This is much better, more intensity and drive in the play. Getting the ball out of tight areas and having a real go at the Fulham defence. Took a bit of time to get going and a goal down but it’s positive in terms of the press. Found a bit of spark

Layvin Kurzawa's pass is short but it just about reaches Shane Duffy, who can only hoof it away under pressure.

Jack Clarke then wins a throw-in on the left-hand side for Sunderland.

Sunderland have a free-kick in midfield which Patrick Roberts sends straight into the box.

Marek Rodak gets there ahead of Danny Batth to punch it away but takes out team-mate Shane Duffy in the process.

It's volleyed back in and Dan Ballard tries to touch it on but it bounces out for a goal kick.

You can see what this spell is doing for the crowd, they are getting behind Sunderland now.

They are linking the passing a bit more and getting through the lines, but it's difficult because Fulham are standing firm.

Lovely ball from Tosin Adarabioyo as he tries to play it over the top for Harry Wilson. Anthony Patterson had read it and the keeper comes out to clear.

Fulham have lost their shape a little bit now and Sunderland have a bit of momentum. Harry Wilson lofts a ball forward hopefully but it rolls through to the keeper.

Edouard Michut wants a penalty when he's brought down by Joao Palhinha in the box but it's a good tackle and the referee waves it away.

Sunderland come back again and Amad Diallo chips it into the middle. Fulham manage to get it away.

A really good couple of minutes for Sunderland. It's the first time they've been able to link and get their forward players in the game.

It's much better from them, forcing the save.

Decent strike from Amad Diallo! He curls it feircely from the edge of the box and it's parried by Marek Rodak.

Abdoullah Ba can't get on the rebound.

Sloppy from Tom Cairney and Abdoullah Ba picks up a loose ball just outside the Fulham box. He shoots but it's blocked.

The Sunderland fans respond with a roar of encouragement.
