With this win, Manchester United have beaten Barcelona for the first time since April 2008 (1-0 in the second leg of the 2007-08 Champions League semi-final), ending their five-game winless run against the Spanish side.
This was the first time Barcelona have lost a game (in any competition) in which they led at half time since April 2021 vs Granada (1-2), having gone unbeaten in 37 successive matches in which they had led at the break before today.

You have to build that connection with the supporters and the fans. Cleverly the players are including the fans and they give back by creating the atmosphere. It doesn't change the way you play but there is a feeling that it is worth making a tackle, or worth making the run. The players are communicating with the fans, saying "we are doing this for you."

I just asked Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag about the performance of Fred.
He looked back at last week's first leg and said the Brazilian was like a mosquito for the way he got at Frenkie de Jong.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag speaking to BT Sport:
Is this biggest win as manager? "Yes, we've had some good wins, Liverpool and Arsenal but I think this over two legs - Barcelona are La Liga leaders - to beat them it's a big win.
"For a European Cup second leg I think it was flat on both sides, no chances. One team has to go in the lead, we had big chances with Bruno [Fernandes] at the start of the game."
On substitutes: "One part of our game plan is that we can bring Antony and [Alehandro] Garnacho and open the wide areas you can get speed and running in behind and dribbles. They are both so brave, they don't fear anyone, they just take players on and I think that gives a boost to the whole team."
On Fred: "What he does really well is make the runs behind in the right moment, he has good timing. He was really effective to make the runs tonight.
"I think we have some great personalities in the team like Rafa [Varane] and [Lisandro] Martinez, they don't fear anyone. We have some players here with great personalities and if and when you get set-backs they move on. They carry on, they are resilient, they want to get a result. If you believe in that even after you've conceded a cheap penalty, you carry on. When you win a big game like this after being 1-0 down this is a good indication of the season."
On potential opponents in next round: "Doesn't matter for me, I'm focussed on Newcastle now. Doesn't matter who will come, we have to beat them all we know that. We'll respect every opponent but if we are well prepared and have strong belief we can do it."
BBC Sport readers rate goalscorer Antony their highest of the match after Man Utd come from behind to beat Barcelona.

It has taken 10 years to get to this point, for me this season anything can really happen. Manchester United can win everything or nothing but we have seen the progress. Every situation has been dealt with properly by Erik ten Hag, like a good manager should. Like vintage Sir Alex Ferguson I am sitting here thinking "wow, we have got the right man."

Since making his Manchester United debut in February 2020, Bruno Fernandes (25 – 12 goals, 13 assists) is one of just five players to have been directly involved in 25+ goals in major European competitions alongside Robert Lewandowski (37), Kylian Mbappé (33), Karim Benzema (27) and Mo Salah (27).

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes speaking to BT Sport: "The belief of the team is always there and the belief of the fans is amazing. They pushed us through difficult moments for great comebacks. It is a great result but now we have a big game on Sunday.
On the penalty decision: "Nothing I can say will change it now but I thought it was a bit soft, both us trying to get the position both of us using our arms but it is what it is, I don't want to make comments. They are always right so I can't do anything about that.
On the connection with the fans: "The fans have been with us in the toughest moments, this season we have been really good because they are always behind us but this is something different. You can feel between them and us there is something special, Old Trafford was bouncing that is why we got the result.
"When we got the goal right at the start of the second-half we knew they were going to be right behind us."

This was always going to be a famous victory or a famous defeat. The question for whichever team that lost was going to be "are we ready for the next level" and for Barcelona they just don't have the consistency to reach the next level.

Manchester United goalscorer Fred speaking to BT Sport: "Very good to hear my name from the fans but it was a good game we played today. We need to keep going we have a final on Sunday and now we have to change our mind to go to the final.
"First half we didn't play how we usually play. But in the second-half we were much better and scored early so we had a good talk at half-time with the coach and we change our mindset and came out very well."

It has been brilliant, over the two matches it could have gone either way. It is two great teams who have gave us everything. In the first game I thought Manchester United were on top, in the first-half of this game Barcelona really took control of the game. In the second-half Erik ten Hag made the right changes and it was an instant result.
The scores are in across the rest of Europe:
Union Berlin 3-1 Ajax (Agg: 3-1)
Rennes 1-0 Shakhtar Donetsk (Agg: 2-2) - going to extra time
Roma 2-0 RB Salzburg (Agg: 2-1)
Man Utd 2-1 Barcelona (Agg: 4-3)

You can see what it means for the players. We haven't seen that for such a long time, it is really, really brilliant. To see the passion that these guys have for Manchester United is just fantastic, especially the reaction to the crowd.

Manchester United's attention now turns to Wembley and the chance to win a first bit of silverware this season, against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
The fans are currently giving it a rendition of the Wembley version of Que Sera Sera.

There are cheers and chants all around this ground now as the players embrace and punch the air.
Manchester United know how big a win this is for them and their season.
I think it is fair to say that Erik ten Hag is building something very good here.
