Before half-time we were talking about control and that doesn't always mean in terms of possessing the ball. It is clear Erik ten Hag has had a big word at half-time and now Manchester United look much more in control.

Sir Alex Ferguson has Howard Wilkinson for company in the stands. Sergeant Wilko denied Fergie his first United title in 1991-92, with Leeds pipping them to the first division crown. The Scot did OK after that, though!

That long ball to use the pace of the United front three is clearly the weapon on choice.

There is a lot of space behind that high Barca backline to tear into.

United clearly feel the big long ball forward can bring reward. The latest almost does as Marcus Rashford is allowed to run at goal, getting in via a fortunate deflection before fluffing his effort behind.

So often Fred has been ridiculed during his time with Manchester United but the Brazilian took that really well.

Frenkie de Jong didn't track Fred's run and when it did come across, it was too late to stop the shot.

That is exactly what Old Trafford needed. We have a game on our hands now!

It is very well played by Bruno Fernandes to spot Fred who made a good run onto the 18-yard line, it is on his weaker foot but he is still able to put the ball in the bottom corner.

They are rampant now. Antony is released in behind the Barca defence down the right. He carries the ball into the box but is denied a clean shot or delivery by a superb tackle from Andres Christensen. It means the ball skips across goal, in front of Marcus Rashford.

What a momentum shift!

Boy, did Manchester United need that!

DSSBrooks: A bright start from United was completely derailed by Fernandes giving away a silly penalty. After that, Barcelona comfortably controlled the game, which generally has been poor and not a patch on last week in Spain so far.

RegularJon: United need to improve. Play how they can and they win. Barca are average, created little and got a really soft penalty which was nearly kept out. Fine margins. Bruno scores after four mins and it’s a different story. Come on lads pick it up.

So that is Marcus Rashford in as number nine.

Manchester United have 45 minutes to save their European season.

They're going to need to be a lot better than they were in that first 45.

Erik ten Hag has made one change - Antony is on for Wout Weghorst.

Manchester United winger Antony has come out early to warm-up.

He is ready to play and looks like he will be on for the start of the second-half.

None of the United attacking players have made much of an impression tonight but I would be surprised if Wout Weghorst is not the man to make way unless there is an injury issue I have missed.

It is a big job. It hasn't been great some of that is the lack of concentration and you can understand that through the fixture congestion, maybe mental fatigue is setting in. But you can't use that as an excuse on a European night against Barcelona.

The penalty is one of those that if it isn't given, no one really reacts to it and Xavi probably doesn't scream about it. But if it is given Bruno Fernandes has to put his head down and accept he conceded the penalty.

Manchester United made less of an impact the more that half wore on.

They are making too many mistakes and can't get any fluidity into their attacking play.

There is a lot of criticism for the referee from fans close by the press box but their own team has to do a lot better.

Roma have turned things around in Italy to lead the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

RB Salzburg won the first leg 1-0 but a couple of quick goals from Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala have put the Jose Mourinho's side in control.
