Liverpool are in a precarious position.... assume that a deal is done for Bellingham (logic would suggest lack of other signings makes this likely)... but then play so badly without any new midfielders that we miss out on top 4 and Jude doesn't come anyway.

Are Man United an improved team? I think so, but it can't be based on any one game. Arsenal were better yesterday but had the advantage in that game of having an easier week before hand. Only over a full season are those things more likely to even out. United got a bit lucky against City. They need a couple more stronger players so that when Casemiero or Rashford are sidelined or fixtures congest they don't slump a level. Mbappe and another world class midfielder should do it. Otherwise its top 4 and no more for them. Real top teams need real top players. They must think BIG.

Stuart: Man Utd - From last seasons to this season, is like chalk and cheese. ETH has been brilliant, personally the most improved side in the PL so far. As Arsenal showed though, still some way to go and squad depth is a problem if we want to be title challengers. 8/10

  9. Man Utd to replace Stretford End executive seatingpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2023

Manchester United is to replace the executive seating area in the Stretford End with general admission season tickets at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, following constructive consultation with the club’s Fans’ Advisory Board.

The Stretford End has for decades been the matchday home of some of Manchester United’s most passionate supporters, while also being synonymous with many of the most iconic goals in the history of Old Trafford.

Following requests from fans, the club worked with its Fans’ Advisory Board to review the presence of executive seating within the Stretford End in support of successful ongoing efforts to enhance the Old Trafford atmosphere.

It has now been agreed that all the seating in the Stretford End will be returned to general admission for the start of the 2024/25 season.

The decision adds to a series of fan-centric steps taken by the club following consultation with fan representatives, including the installation of rail seating and the creation of a dedicated atmosphere section in the Stretford End.

Rick McGagh, Head of Fan Engagement at Manchester United, said: “The Stretford End is one of the most famous stands in world football. It has been the backdrop to many of the most memorable moments in our history, and when it’s at its loudest you can feel the difference it makes to the players, and the connection the fans have with the team.

“Fans and fan groups including MUST and TRA have long campaigned for us to remove the executive seats from the heart of the Stretford End and to make them standard tickets and therefore more accessible to all fans.

“We have listened and agree that as many fans as possible should have the chance to be a Stretford Ender. We have worked with our Fans’ Advisory Board in recent months to make this happen and we are all looking forward to an even louder Stretford End from August 2024.”

  11. 'I’ve loved seeing Rashford's re-emergence this season'published at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2023

    Marcus RashfordImage source, Getty Images

Former Premier League midfielder Jobi McAnuff says Marcus Rashford showed again he is back to his best with his impressive goal against Arsenal on Sunday.

When asked about Rashford's goal against the Gunners, he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast: "Magic. It’s him at his best. I’ve loved seeing his re-emergence this season, because I felt he clearly was a player who was completely devoid of confidence - as a forward, you can see that a mile off.

"That decision to turn back and pass rather than getting your head down and going to take someone on. There was only one thing in his mind [against Arsenal].

"I’ve just been delighted, as a neutral, to see him get back because he is a top, top talent.

"There was one example - nothing to do with how good he was with the ball - when he chased a back pass he was never going to get, but he ran 40 or 50 yards at full sprint just to help his team get up the pitch.

"They are the little things he wasn’t doing last season, but now he is absolutely full tilt."

Chelsea still need a CM and RB cover but having filled some creativity in Felix, Mudryk & Madueke I'll settle for a decent finisher now. Vlahovic would be ideal combination of pace & finishing. If not him Thuram is a decent 2nd option.

  13. Rice 'has not made up his mind yet'published at 12:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2023

Transfer gossip dailyImage source, BBC Sport

This is "probably Declan Rice's last season at West Ham", says Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards as the Premier League's Champions-League chasing clubs circle around London Stadium.

The Hammers captain has been strongly linked with a move to league leaders Arsenal in the summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United also reportedly keen on his signature.

Edwards understands the interest and thinks Rice has decided it's time to leave West Ham, but not worked out who he would like to join.

"Arsenal are favourites for the title and have an upwardly mobile and progressive manager in Mikel Arteta," Edwards said on the Transfer Gossip Daily podcast.

"They have had a fantastic season, but I also think Rice would be ideal for Manchester United. Pair him with Casemiro and they would have an impressive midfield base.

"I think Jude Bellingham also being available complicates the transfer and these two will be the most sought-after players in the summer."

If Arsenal sign Fresneda they've done more than well this transfer window. They've acquired essential reinforcements and their bench is looking far stronger than 12 months ago. I'd like to see another midfielder but they may use their existing squad as they're going to spend big on Declan Rice this summer. Maybe Tielemans is a possibility but unlikely this late in the window.

Tom: Leeds United: Cannot fault the effort levels and desire of the players. Some good performances here and there, but not winning even when playing well. There doesn't seem to be a coherent plan, both going forward and especially defensively. Improvements required. 3/10

Erling Haaland has more Premier League hat-tricks than Cristiano Ronaldo. He has the same number as Mohamed Salah. He is a third of the way towards Sergio Aguero's record tally of 12.

Haaland has been in England's top flight for half a season. That's 19 league games in total.

On Sunday, in Manchester City's comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves, the Norwegian struck his fourth treble, completing it in just 12 minutes either side of half-time.

It took his tally of goals for the campaign to a stunning 31 in all competitions - 25 of them in the Premier League.
