Slick start by Everton. A cross is pinged into the Forest box before it is scrambled away. Now Serge Aurier and Demarai Gray are having words. Aurier has been in an argumentative mood all afternoon.

Considering this is the proverbial 6 pointer, it is a much better game than I was expecting. As a neutral I hope Forest get the next goal as we will have a great end to the game. It could be 4-4 and 9 against 9!!

A very good half for Everton, they've subdued the threat from Nottingham Forest.

The hosts have created very little since Brennan Johnson's goal and Sean Dyche will be a happy man at the break.

Can they hold on for a priceless victory though?

  9. 'This game isn't over'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    HT: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Everton

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everton finally scored a goal and they're defending well.

But this game isn't over, Steve Cooper will have them come out all geared up second-half.

It's been a good game, did I think it was going to be this good? No, but credit to them. It's been entertaining!

    There's more goals to come.

Yes, the game is entertaining, but I genuinely feel like I'm watching a Championship game, not a Premier League game, such is the quality on display

Great game. Everton are halfway to a first Premier League away win since 1 October.

    Nottingham Forest 1-2 Everton

Everton are a big strong side so can defend in numbers, the ball needed to be on the money and it wasn't.

  13. Postpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    Nottingham Forest 1-2 Everton

The free-kick is cleared and Everton are now on the charge. A well-worked move ends in a tame attempt by Demarai Gray from about 12 yards. He should have done better with that.

And another free-kick. Alex Iwobi on Renan Lodi this time out wide inside the Everton half. One last chance before half-time for Forest?

  15. Forest have 'got to do better'published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    Nottingham Forest 1-2 Everton

Forest need half-time because at the moment they're not good enough and they've got to do better.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

Brennan Johnson does ever so well to keep the ball alive at the corner flag but is then CLATTERED by Ben Godfrey.

Out comes the first yellow of the game which is incredible in itself considering the tackles that have been flying.

Three of Everton's four goals under Sean Dyche have come via a set-piece.

A good weapon to have in your armoury when you don't have a striker to call upon.
