Aston Villa v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Aston Villa have an unchanged squad for the visit of Bournemouth.

Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho and Leander Dendoncker remain injured, while fit-again Diego Carlos returned as an unused substitute last week.

Bournemouth welcome back Hamed Traore but the game comes too soon for Marcus Tavernier and Illia Zabarnyi.

David Brooks was named in the matchday squad against Liverpool last week for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer in October 2021.

He awaits his first appearance since September that year.

  2. Early team newspublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Southampton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

Southampton are optimistic Kyle Walker-Peters will be fit despite being forced off against Brentford in midweek.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set to return from a minor injury but Tino Livramento and Juan Larios are still sidelined.

Tottenham remain without injured quartet Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon.

Head coach Antonio Conte says his other players are all fit, indicating Emerson Royal may come back into contention after missing last weekend's win against Nottingham Forest.

  3. Early team newspublished at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Brentford v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

Brentford are without midfielder Vitaly Janelt, who suffered a knee injury during the midweek win at Southampton.

Kristoffer Ajer is sidelined with a calf issue but Mads Roerslev could return after a two-match absence because of a hamstring problem.

Leicester City captain Jonny Evans is a doubt after suffering a setback in his return from calf and thigh injuries.

Wout Faes serves a one-match suspension and Victor Kristiansen is likely to miss out with ankle ligament damage, while Ryan Bertrand, James Justin and Youri Tielemans remain long-term absentees.

    And down at the bottom...

Well, for the neutrals at least, it's shaping up to be a rather entertaining relegation scrap.

Nine teams, separated by just five points.

Southampton, Leeds, Bournemouth, Leicester, Everton and Wolves will all aim to improve their situations today.

  5. The situation at the toppublished at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

Here's a little reminder of how things stand in the Premier League following midweek wins for Brighton and Brentford, and Newcastle's victory last night.

At the top, leaders Arsenal are not in action until Sunday while both Manchester clubs are playing their FA Cup quarter-final fixtures.

Tottenham can move up to third if they beat Southampton today, while Brentford will look to leap up into sixth against Leicester.

    Wolves v Leeds (15:00 GMT)

Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha are both fit for Wolves after overcoming respective heel and ankle issues.

Hwang Hee-chan is unavailable through injury, while this game comes too soon for Boubacar Traore.

Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams is ruled out with a hamstring problem.

Fit-again forward Rodrigo could start his first game for eight weeks, while Liam Cooper is also in contention but Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw remain sidelined.

  7. A big six-pointerpublished at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Wolves v Leeds (15:00 GMT)

Wolves v Leeds is unique in this round of fixtures, in that is the only game between two of the nine sides locked in that frantic battle in the bottom half of the Premier League. A proper six-pointer.

A sets up a number of possible strands. If the teams in the top half do them a favour, a win for either side at Molineux is a huge shot in the arm in the relegation battle. Although, any win in this situation is priceless.

It'll be a tense time for a loser, though, especially if it's Leeds. They will be left to see what results happen elsewhere and just how much bother they might leave them in.

This is just one step along the way, though. You suspect this scrap for survival is going to go right down to the wire.

No early kick-off in the Premier League today, but we did have a Friday night match.

That saw Alexander Isak score a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Newcastle at Nottingham Forest from the penalty spot, keeping their hopes of a top-four finish firmly alive.

The result leaves Newcastle just a point behind Tottenham in fifth - and still with a game in hand.

Forest, meanwhile, remain two points above the relegation zone.

Yes, another Premier League boss lost their job this week, as Crystal Palace sacked Patrick Vieira following a 12-game winless run.

It means Palace, although 12th, are just three points above the relegation places.

Under-21s boss Paddy McCarthy is set to take charge against league leaders Arsenal on Sunday, but who will be brought in to try and guide them to safety?

Well, former Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is being considered as an option.

The 75-year-old managed the club for four seasons before stepping back from football in 2021. Is a remarkable return to the dugout on the cards?

It's matchday 28 of 38 in the Premier League and the pressure is beginning to mount as the finish line draws into view.

That saw another Premier League manager lose their job this week, as Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace exit made him the ninth sacking in the competition this season.

This is the last round of fixtures before the international break, before players return to play out the conclusion of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

So, who will be able to end on a high note before the drama resumes in April?
