  15. 'Can the Everton players adapt to Dyche?'published at 23:53 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on the Football News Show

Sean Dyche will change the set-up, the system, training and it's a whole new belief in someone who's going to give Everton a lift. He will certainly do that but you want that recruitment, you want someone coming in the door to give the players another extra lift.

Are some of those players going to adapt. We know exactly the work ethic that is going to come. Can some of those players do that? It has gone terribly wrong. You look how long it has taken to announce the manager and statements etc. Everything is taking so long.

To be honest, I’d rather EFC didn’t buy anyone, rather than end up with panic buys who add nothing to the squad - Cenk Tosun and Delle Ali spring to mind.

    Richard

Liverpool not signing a midfielder, at the very least on loan, is a dereliction of duty. We have needed reinforcements for the past 2 seasons and the failure to address that is why we are in the mess we currently find ourselves. Pathetic

  18. 'Everton need to share the goal burden'published at 23:40 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on the Football News Show

Everton have sold Richarlison and Antony Gordon, two of their most creative players of late, they're struggling to score goals.

If Dominic Calvert-Lewin was to get injured, Everton are relying on Neal Maupay to keep them in the Premier League who, no disrespect to him, isn't a prolific goal scorer so you're looking around the squad and you wonder where the goals are coming from so I probably was looking for someone to come in during the January transfer window to help with that burden of goals.

  19. All quiet on Merseysidepublished at 23:38 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2023

    Ian Kennedy
    Reporter, BBC Radio Merseyside Sport

And so 23:00 has come and gone and the window is shut, and barring any late "deal sheet" situations, there will be no signings for Everton. It means new manager Sean Dyche will have the task of getting the side away from the relegation zone with the existing squad of players – minus Anthony Gordon. Arsenal next on Saturday.

Quiet at Anfield too, with Cody Gakpo Liverpool’s only major signing in January.
