If you're wondering why Spurs released Matt Doherty so he could join Atletico Madrid instead of loaning him to the Spanish club as planned, there is a very good reason.
Newish Fifa rules only allow clubs to send out eight players on loan in a season.
And Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani lo Celso, Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence have already left Spurs on a temporary basis.
A team in the Championship relegation zone signing the Czech number one keeper sounds random. But it's happened.

The Enzo Fernandez signing looks like it ticks all of the boxes, a quality player, really young, a lot of his career ahead of him, really good experience, desire he has shown already as he's won the World Cup. He comes in with that confidence as well and they'll hope he hits the ground running.
Palace sign Arsenal's Lokonga on loan
Crystal Palace have agreed to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, 23, until the end of the season.
“I’m really excited," the Belgian said. "I can’t wait to get started. I’m really happy to join Crystal Palace.
"I want to go as far as possible with the team. I will try to push for me and the team to do the maximum to reach the top.”
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "Jorginho is a midfield player with intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience.
"Jorginho has won in his career, but he still has the hunger and huge willingness to contribute here.
"We are so pleased to sign Jorginho and welcome him and his family to the club.”

The Jorginho signing caught my eye, not simply because I wasn't expecting him to move away from Chelsea but more because of the way Arsenal have done their business. They are continuing to impress me.
They way they go about it, identifying people they need given the injuries they have sustained in their squad, knowing exactly what they want and going out an doing it.
Spurs have been trying to sign Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro.
First Spurs had to get rid of two right-backs of their own - and Djed Spence and Matt Doherty have indeed left.
Now Barcelona have announced their right-back Hector Bellerin is joining Sporting.
So surely it's going to happen now.
Max Wober has lifted the lid on how his move to Elland Road from Red Bull Salzburg came to pass.

There is literally no doubt about my favourite deal of the day.
Surely nobody woke up this morning thinking Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid were going to sign Matt Doherty.
He has signed a six-month deal with the La Liga club.

There has been a suggestion for the last couple of days, reinforced by Erik ten Hag earlier, that Brandon Williams could leave Manchester United on loan.
Williams was linked with Fulham but nothing has materialised there and now it is almost certain Williams will be staying at Old Trafford.
Atletico Madrid sign Matt Doherty from Tottenham
Atletico Madrid have signed Republic of Ireland right-back Matt Doherty, 31, on a free transfer from Tottenham.
It was expected to be a loan move but Spurs announced his deal with the club has been mutually terminated.
Hamed Traore's final game for Sassuolo was in Sunday's 5-2 win over AC Milan at the San Siro.
Not a bad way to sign off.
Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “He is young, ambitious and one of the hottest talents from Serie A. He fits the profile of the type of player we are looking to recruit and will significantly add to our creative resources."
Bournemouth sign Hamed Traore from Sassuolo
Bournemouth make their second signing of the day.
Sassuolo and Ivory Coast midfielder Hamed Traore, 22, joins on loan in a deal which will become permanent in the summer on a five-year deal.
The transfer is thought to cost in the region of £20m.
Atletico Madrid are teasing a signing themselves now.
Could those be the hands of Matt Doherty?

Nottingham Forest sign Atletico Madrid defender Felipe
Nottingham Forest have done what Nottingham Forest do best, and signed another player.
Brazilian centre-back Felipe, 33, has moved to Forest on an 18-month deal in a permanent move.
He joned Atletico from Porto in 2019 and played 113 times.
