    Dundee Utd 0-0 Kilmarnock

It's been a slow and messy start to the match at Tannadice. Dundee United have managed to put more passes together than the visitors but a combination of the offside flag, muscular defending and too much weight on the deliveries means there have been no chances of note yet.

  10. Martindale on lack of VAR at Livingstonpublished at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Livingston v Inverness CT (15:00)

Livingston boss David Martindale tells Sportsound: "[The cup is] my biggest bugbear every year. This is my ninth season at the club and we've not gotten past this stage. It would be nice to do that today.

"The boys are on a great run of form. I'm not under any illusions about how hard it will be today. Billy [Dodds] has done a great job, they've been hampered by injuries and they're still a point off the play-offs.

And, on no VAR at game today, Martindale added: "When you're talking five figures, both clubs would walk away with no money. We've lived without VAR for hundreds of years and I'm happy to go without.

"I don't think we can justify it in the cup. Inverness have the cost of coming down here, too. If we were to share £16,000, we'd not walk away with any money."

  11. Inverness have belief - Doddspublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Livingston v Inverness CT (15:00)

Inverness CT boss Billy Dodds tells Sportsound: "You need some luck in football, and that's what we got to be here. We were competitive during the Queen's Park game. We've been here this year already and won.

"You can come to Premiership grounds and not believe. We believe we can come here and win. We won [in the League Cup] well on the night, we could have scored more. I want them to be competitive because we can match teams like Livi but only if we're at our very best.

"We've made three changes just to freshen it up. We're asking the same boys to churn out performances, we've got to look after them. Some of them are getting on."

Dundee United head coach Liam Fox: "This is the game we're looking forward to. It's a wee bit of a break from the league. We're looking for a better performance.

"They are all big games, they just keep coming. As a manager, a player, coaching staff, you want to be involved in big games.

"Our first aim is to try to be in the hat for the draw. It will be a very difficult task. We'll need to be at a very good level to get through."

  14. A break from the basement battlepublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Dundee Utd v Kilmarnock (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Tannadice

Dundee United and Kilmarnock have spent the season battling in the basement of the top division – United are bottom of the table, with Killie just three points better off.

So with both sides deep in the relegation mire, you could make the argument that this afternoon’s Scottish Cup tie at Tannadice is a welcome break from the Premiership pressure for the two teams.

Having already dumped United out of the League Cup - Killie will be looking to complete a knockout double over this afternoon’s opponents.

They also have an added reason to feel good, in that they saw off United in the Premiership at Rugby Park just 10 days ago.

Despite their poor form, United do have some cause to feel positive themselves - they produced one of their best performances of the season against Kilmarnock – thrashing them 4-0 at Tannadice back in November.

When you take all of the above into consideration, you get the feeling this is a tie that could go the distance, and be one that has the potential to ignite the season of whoever prevails and secures their passage through to the quarter finals.

It's a tough time for Stevie Hammell. He comes out every week and talks about the training, the information that is given to the players and, up until the last two games, performances had been good, but, they're losing soft goals through individual errors.

When you're making basic errors that are leading to goals, what is the manager to do?

If players are going to make the mistakes they have been, there is not a lot more he can do.

  18. Can Inverness take advantage of cup repreive?published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

    Livingston v Inverness CT (15:00)

    Jane Lewis
BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni Arena

Inverness Caledonian Thistle shouldn’t be in the Scottish Cup this weekend but after being handed a reprieve thanks to Queens Park fielding an ineligible player, here they are.

What odds of them taking full advantage of their second chance and causing an upset against a Livingston side who are unbeaten at home in their past five games? They’ve done it before of course, the Highland side like a Cup shock but Livi are in good form, they’ve only lost one in their past eight games, and seem to be a team playing with confidence and enjoyment.

Inverness, who’ve seen a turn-around in their fortunes in recent weeks, and who came here in the League Cup and won, will be hoping they can once again be part of another memorable Scottish Cup tie.
