Enjoy the first EFL action of the week? It would have been impossible not to during that storming second half. The xG figures, by the way, are Watford 2.43 - 1.56 West Brom.

Watford make it one defeat in eight league games, end their run of three draws and hit the 50-point mark to rise to fifth in the table and keep their play-off hopes burning brightly.

West Brom miss the chance to overtake the Hornets, but their second-half comeback will give them cause for encouragement as they now look to chase down a four-point gap on the top six.

Don’t forget that we’ll have live updates on five more fixtures in the Championship on Tuesday, as well as two games in League One, four in League Two, a full National League programme and a Football League Trophy semi-final.

Hope you can join us then and thanks for your company this evening.

    FT: Watford 3-2 West Brom

Watford defender Wesley Hoedt, speaking to Sky Sports: "We have so much quality on the pitch and there was only one team who deserved to win.

"It was about keeping your head, keeping calm and keeping the pitch small. Sometimes we made the pitch too large and that made it easier for them to play.

"It's quite clear that we need to win all the games. We had a great game at Burnley and maybe deserved a little bit more. This result is good for confidence and we have to go on to the next one."

Watford midfielder Ken Sema, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was an important game and a game we had to win. We felt a little bit of pressure but it was big game at home. It was my [second] goal, for sure."

Ismaila Sarr also missed a penalty and scored a David Beckham-style chip when these sides met at The Hawthorns earlier this season.

If they can play their way back into the play-off picture, West Brom might be hoping Watford aren't waiting for them.

It's frustrating for Albion because they've done the hard part and come back twice, then let a third one in. They're throwing points away for me.

All of that performance is for nothing.

    Watford 3-2 West Brom

A breathless second half comes to a close with Watford back in the top six and Slaven Bilic celebrating victory over his former club!

Those 45 minutes were a complete contrast to the first period. The Baggies must be sick of the sight of Ismaila Sarr, who scored against them for the second time this season and set up Ken Sema's winner - his second strike of the night - with 12 minutes remaining.

West Brom showed so much more intent after the break but stay four points off the hallowed places. A mention for Jayson Molumby, who set up both of their goals as they almost took a point.

Joao Pedro is adjudged to have been fouled, then offers a few choice words to Jed Wallace, who appeared to bring him down clumsily but with minimal malice.

The Brazilian receives a talking-to for his trouble.

Exactly what Watford would have wanted from the newly-introduced Britt Assombalonga, who breaks away down the left, briefly looks like he might go for broke towards goal and ends up winning a corner on the left.

If his side could keep this in the corner for four minutes, they undoubtedly would.

  10. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2023

    Watford 3-2 West Brom

There will be six minutes of added time, which is a vast amount in the context of a second half that has been full of action and drama.

We're on course to continue West Brom's rut in a result that will push Watford into the top six. But you wouldn't count on the result staying as it is.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 89 mins

Britt Assombalonga replaces Keinan Davis, who will feel he should have scored at least once tonight.

  12. CLOSE!published at 86 mins

    Watford 3-2 West Brom

Josh Griffiths does brilliantly to stop Keinan Davis from scoring a fourth for Watford, steaming in to meet a cross from the right with a powerful shot that the goalkeeper somehow paws out from his line!

As is now the nature of this unpredictable game, West Brom go straight to the other end, where Jed Wallace blasts a low shot at a defender.

Jayson Molumby, who was booked earlier, eventually retrieves possession.

Watford are taking their time with the ball now - and, as you might expect, head coach Slaven Bilic is constantly barking instructions.

Ten minutes to hold on for the hosts.

    Ken Sema

This should perhaps go down as an own-goal.

Ismaila Sarr teases West Brom and cuts a pass back to Ken Sema just inside the penalty area on the right, who crashes an angled shot towards goal.

Erik Pieters, who's not having a great night after being booked at the start of the second half, can't move his feet out of the way quickly enough and deflects the effort beyond Josh Griffiths at the goalkeeper's near post.

The home fans will definitely feel there is justice in that piece of luck after that second goal for West Brom.

    Watford 2-2 West Brom

West Brom then go to the other end and force a free-kick outside the penalty area on the right, which Watford repel.

There are going to be questions about the legitimacy of that West Brom goal. More than a suspicion of offside.

  18. CLOSE!published at 73 mins

    Watford 2-2 West Brom

From some of the drudgery we witness during the first half, this feels like unbridled carnage now.

Ken Sema smashes the ball into the West Brom net after Josh Griffiths produces a superb save to keep Keinan Davis' effort out, but the hosts are offside.

West Brom are gifted a second equaliser!

Daniel Bachmann makes a mess of a pass from inside his own penalty area, playing it straight to Jayson Molumby just outside the box.

The Irishman shows splendid skill to turn and play in Jed Wallace ahead of him, who might well be offside but isn't the subject of a raised flag and gleefully rifles into the far corner!

That was a little cruel on West Brom, who'd had eight shots at the start of the second half.
