    Oh, nearly!

Ilkay Gundogan breaks and finds Jack Grealish on the left. His chipped ball into the box finds the German again but he can't generate any power on his subsequent ball into the middle. Alisson gathers.

City look more than capable of whisking this game away from Liverpool.

It was a brilliant counter-attack from City!

The run was brilliant and then Alisson just misses it.

Brilliant finish, he let the pace do the work.

Within a minute of the restart, City get their noses in front. It is a wonderful ball from Julian Alvarez out to Riyad Mahrez and is low ball into the middle beats the diving Alisson to give Kevin de Bruyne a finish into an empty net.

I'm a Liverpool fan, but fed up of the 'in the referee's face' behaviour on show. It's no wonder we see poor behaviour at amateur and youth level, from players, fans & parents. Book them/send them off. Look to rugby for how to behave.

Premier league officials have got to step up. They are just not good enough. It’s a contact sport yes but not a wrestling match. Officials who don’t ref properly are the catalyst for the players behaviour. No consistency

    Anon

Players shouldn't crowd the ref, that is true, but if the refs do there job and give the booking then players wouldn't surround them, it works both ways, do the job properly

Liverpool have won two and there has been three draws in the last five Premier League games with Manchester City when the score has been 1-1 at half-time. The last game before that run was City's 2-1 win at Maine Road on 14 April 1995 (Maurizio Gaudino winning goal).

If the FA really took player behaviour towards officials seriously, it could stop it in a single weekend. Just book each player that surrounds the ref - you'll get a load of red cards one weekend and then it won't happen again. Simple.

    Tim

Captains have a responsibility to control their players but rarely show it. There would a drastic improvement if the captain was booked for failing to control his players when they show such aggression against the officials

    Well that was lively enough.

Manchester City were by far the more dangerous side but look vulnerable to those Liverpool counter attacks.

Referee Simon Hooper was roundly jeered by City's fans as the teams went off at half-time. They were angry he has not shown yellow cards to Fabinho and Trent-Alexander Arnold but the other side of that ledger is he could have shown a second yellow to Rodri.

What he did not need was Liverpool's players swarming him demanding he brought out the red card. Not good.

The Trent/Klopp situation is perfectly explained in this game. Trent sets up the first and is massively out of position for the second. Klopp will only focus on the first and that's the issue

It's the kind of game we could have predicted. City have dominated possession and fashioned more chances. Liverpool have dug in and looked to hit on the break.

Inevitably, there'll be a lot of chat about refereeing and VAR and who should have been sent off or not. You know, the usual Premier League stuff.

Best and worst of the Premier League. Wonderful goals and appalling behaviour.

    John

Start booking players for that disgraceful behaviour we have just seen from the entire Liverpool 11. Sick of seeing surrounding the officials and screaming obscenities at them go unpunished.

It's all getting a bit heated.

Trent Alexander-Arnold commits a messy foul to give City a free-kick on the left. When it is swung in, Jordan Henderson goes to ground claiming a foul from Manuel Akanji. They're all around the ref again.

Just get on with the game, lads.
