Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson hopes the win over Leicester does not prompt a downturn in performance level.

Hodgson, who was reappointed Palace manger until the end of the season following the sacking of Patrick Vieira, won his first match match back in charge against the Foxes.

"It's easy for me to say to the players ‘go and perform that way again,’ but of course it's not that easy," said Hodgson.

"I haven't noticed a great deal of difference in training before and after the game, there's a sense of relief of course, but the two weeks we had with the players during the international break here hasn't changed in intensity - it was high energy and good quality and it's been that since.

"The fact you then play the game and have that type of performance is the icing on the cake.

"The only thing is as a manger and coach the concern is that one swallow not making summer - that was one game and three points but there are lots more points we need to get and performances we need to get before the end of the season."

If this was away from home I would say Liverpool would be beaten today.

But because this is at home there's just a different feeling.

I went to Arsenal v Liverpool a few years ago when Arsenal went 1-0 up, and there was just a sense around the stadium of 'Don't worry about it, Liverpool will turn this around'. They won 5-1.

If Liverpool went 1-0 down today, there would be a completely different feel around the stadium because it's not the same team at the moment.

They are so lacking in confidence.

Leeds v Crystal Palace (14:00 BST)

This is a meeting of two newly/fairly newly appointed managers - and both ex-Watford bosses, although who hasn't managed Watford at this stage?

Javi Gracia replaced Jesse Marsch at Leeds in February, with Roy Hodgson taking Patrick Vieira's job at Palace.

Gracia is unbeaten in all three of his Premier League meetings against Palace and Hodgson (W2 D1), all of which came when he was in charge of Watford.

Leeds v Crystal Palace (14:00 BST)

Leeds have won three of their six Premier League games under Javi Gracia, as many as they had in their previous 22 this season.

United had 21 shots in their midweek win over Nottingham Forest, their most in a Premier League match since January 2022.

    Leeds v Crystal Palace

Palace not only got a good result in Roy Hodgson's first game back in charge, they played really well too. The only downside from that win over Leicester is that they lost Wilfried Zaha for a few weeks with injury.

I am going with Leeds here, though, and I even think they will keep a clean sheet.

Leeds have taken seven points from the past nine available at Elland Road and the home crowd always helps but, more importantly, they have started scoring again too.

    Prediction: 1-0

Leeds have won their last six home league meetings with Crystal Palace, and their last seven in all competitions.

Palace's last win at Elland Road came in the Championship in 2006.

Crystal Palace are aiming to achieve a league double over Leeds for the first time since 1986. They beat United 2-1 in October.

One point and two places separate Leeds and Crystal Palace going into this game as they look to take a huge step towards Premier League survival.

Both claimed big wins last time out as Leeds beat Nottingham Forest and Palace defeated Leicester in Roy Hodgson's first game in charge.

Three points today would be massive for either side but the sense walking into the ground is that this is not a must win game.

"As long as we don't lose we will be fine," one Leeds fan said.

Man Utd 2-0 Everton: Erik ten Hag very happy with win but concerns over Rashford

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says it "does not look well" for Marcus Rashford after the striker picked up an injury during Saturday's 2-0 win against Everton.

The 25-year-old England international pulled up with an apparent groin injury towards the end of the match.

"This was avoidable. All science and research tell you players need a certain time to recover," said Ten Hag.

"It is also part of the schedule that we are now finding ourselves in this situation and now we can only pray he is not dropping off."

  12. VAR strikes againpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Refereeing body PGMOL has admitted Brighton should have had a penalty for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's tackle on Kaoru Mitoma in Saturday's game at Tottenham.

The incident was one of a number of decisions that went against Roberto de Zerbi's men in their 2-1 defeat.

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk said: "I don't see what VAR is here for. You bring it in for big decisions and don't make big decisions. What is the point of it? He has clearly fouled him."

BBC pundit and former Premier League striker Chris Sutton said the visitors had been "robbed".

  13. 'I didn't expect to solve everything in one day'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Frank Lampard says he did not expect to solve all of Chelsea's problems in one day after their 1-0 defeat by Wolves.

Lampard was sacked by Everton earlier this season and a surprise replacement, on an interim basis, for Graham Potter.

"It's a big task managing Chelsea," said Lampard, whose side are 11th.

"We know we're not in a position we want to be in. There's always a reason for it.

"I didn't expect to solve everything in one day. You have to have more aggression in your game, more speed and more competitive duels which go your way.

"The players need to be aware of that because without that you can't win games. It was interesting to see anyway, I'm here to help with that. It's not stinging criticism, I know there's a lot of talent there."

  14. Leicester lose againpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Leicester continue to not be very good after giving Brendan Rodgers the boot.

They lost 1-0 to Bournemouth yesterday.

Caretaker boss Adam Sadler told BBC Sport: "We have to remain purely focused on getting this football club to stay in this division.

"We're disappointed, there is no getting away from that. There is a lack of confidence. We're in a fight, we've got to stay together."

Ex-Leeds manager Jesse Marsch is reportedly in advanced talks to take over.

Jermaine Beckford said on Final Score: "He knows how he wants his team to play. It wasn't quite right for the time for Leeds United but it could be the right time for Leicester City.

"With the players that they have in their ranks, the wide players, the forward attacking players. It could suit them down to the ground."

  15. Goalbot 3.0 does it againpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Yesterday Erling Haaland did some more goals, two of them in a 4-1 win over Southampton.

He has equalled the record of 44 goals in all competitions by a Premier League player in one season.

And Manchester City have a minimum of 11 games to go.

"We have lived two incredible decades with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but he is on that level," manager Pep Guardiola told BBC Sport.

Crystal Palace are without top scorer Wilfried Zaha through a groin injury today.

The fact Zaha has scored six goals in all competitions this season and is still their top scorer says a lot.

Odsonne Edouard (five) and Eberechi Eze (three) are their only other players to score more than two goals. They both netted against Leeds in October.

As a comparison, Rodrigo Moreno is Leeds' top scorer on 13 and six of their players have scored four or more.

This is the second game since Roy Hodgson surprisingly replaced Patrick Vieira.

Even more suprising was how they played in last weekend's win over Leicester. Vieira had been brought in to give Palace a more exciting attacking edge.

Leeds stick with the team that beat Nottingham Forest last time out.

That means Patrick Bamford leads the attack while Wilfried Gnonto is on the bench following his return from an ankle injury.

Leeds XI: Meslier, Ayling, Firpo, Koch, Aaronson, Roca, Bamford, Harrison, Struijk, Sinisterra, McKennie.

Subs: Robles, Forshaw, Cooper, Summerville, Rodrigo, Rutter, Kristensen, Gnoto, Greenwood.

Jordan Ayew comes in for the injured Wilfried Zaha in one of two changes for Crystal Palace.

Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita has a calf strain so he is replaced by Sam Johnstone.

Crystal Palace XI: Johnstone, Ward, Andersen, Guéhi, Mitchell, Doucouré, Schlupp, Eze, Ayew, Edouard, Olise.

Subs: Whitworth, Tomkins, Clyne, Riedewald, Hughes, Milivojevic, McArthur, Lokonga, Mateta.
