  1. 'Huge night for both clubs'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

    Leeds v Leicester (20:00 BST)

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Dean Smith speaking to BT Sport: "It's a huge night for both football clubs. Both are in positions we don't want to be in. We got a result on the weekend but it means nothing unless we can get one tonight as well.

"We need to goals to win games. They haven't come readily from the centre-forwards this season. It's nice to get some fresh legs in there.

"I haven't [set a points target for safety]. You have to go game by game because the picture changes constantly.

"It's different because you're in for a short period of time. This is all about getting points. I'm not bothered about upsetting players. We all know the position we're in.

"I don't even know whose out of contract to be honest. I'm not really bothered. Our focus is on the next game and it's as simple as that."

    Wolves 1-0 Crystal Palace

Wolves know three points will all but secure Premier League football next season and they are enjoying a rampant start here as Nelson Semedo's cutback is pushed away by Sam Johnstone.

It couldn’t have been a much worse start for Palace. 1-0 down from an own goal in the first couple of minutes.

A change for Fulham and a big miss too as Willian, originally on the team sheet, has dropped out and in comes Manor Solomon.

Neeskens Kebano thought he had the evening off but he's now among the visiting substitutes.

    Perfect start for the hosts!

It is a great finish too, although unfortunately for the visitors it is by Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen.

After Diego Costa's deflected shot is turned behind, the Palace defender knees the delivery from the corner in off the underside of the bar.

I've always thought Leicester are too good to go down. There's so much quality in this side, especially with James Maddison in the team.

If they can get him linking up with Kelechi Iheanacho then you just think they will have too much to go down.

The players are out on the pitch for our first kick off of the evening as Wolves take on Crystal Palace.

This feels like a game between two teams who are basically seeing out the remainder of the season, although Wolves will want the win just to ensure things don't become a bit more uncomfortable at the bottom end of the table.

I thought Patrick Vieira was very unlucky to lose his job. I feel he could have got them out of trouble with the games that were to come.

Roy Hodgson has done a brilliant job. I'm not sure everyone was so confident but he's getting some big performances out of those players and now they can enjoy the rest of the season.

Not hopeful for a Leeds win tonight. Maddison and our nemesis Barnes will take apart our fragile defence. Hope I’m wrong! Worried from Nottingham!

At the early part of the season, Steven [Gerrard] was in there and he made some big decisions like changing the captaincy and the players didn't like it.

Unai Emery has come in and seemingly transformed it.

To get to where they are now from where they were and possibly finish in Europe will be a remarkable achievement for Villa.

James Maddison gives Leicester a different dynamic and he creates opportunities for others.

It was tough for Brendan Rodgers who wasn't able to strengthen in certain areas of the pitch so I had a lot of sympathy for him.

Clearly, the run they were on, Leicester felt they had to do something and Dean Smith has come in with a real freshness.

  13. 'Gracia must have defensive worries'published at 19:17 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

    Leeds v Leicester (20:00 BST)

I keep tipping Leeds United to pick up points at home and to be fair I have only been about 10 goals out. I backed them to beat Crystal Palace 1-0 and draw 1-1 with Liverpool and they lost those games 5-1 and 6-1.

Javi Gracia has picked up three wins and a draw in his nine league games in charge, which is the reason they aren't in the relegation zone, but he must have massive worries about his defence and only Bournemouth have conceded more goals in the top flight this season.

I don't fancy Leeds to keep a clean sheet here, but Leicester City have defensive problems of their own.

The Foxes' win over Wolves on Saturday was enormous for their new manager, Dean Smith, because it got them out of the bottom three, and with a home game against Everton to come on Monday they could open up a bit of a gap on the relegation zone in the space of a week.

I don't think that will happen, though. For no reason whatsoever, I am going to say a home win for Leeds. They have been smashed in their past two games at Elland Road, but this might be third time lucky - for me as well as them.

    Chris Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Zak Kershaw: Still benches Gnonto. Gracia is desperate for us to be relegated.

Noreen Porritt: Don't know how he benches Gnonto, he has failed to motivate this team playing Aaronson was the craziest.

  15. Silva expects no easing up in Fulham's fine campaignpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

While Aston Villa are still hopeful of securing European football next season, Fulham can be forgiven for being a bit envious.

Having won the Championship in 2021-22, Marco Silva's side have been superb at the higher level and as recently as mid-February were sixth (the position Villa now hold) and only three points off the top four.

However, four successive league defeats have ended those dreams, although the Cottagers are back in winning form, having beaten Everton and Leeds in their last two matches.

Ninth-placed Fulham are still aiming for their first top-10 finish in the top-flight since 2011-12 and Silva has dismissed any suggestions that his team will ease up now that they've achieved their main aim of avoiding relegation, with Europe looking beyond them.

"I heard disappointing things said about the team - that the team was already on the beach and that the team gave up," said Silva on Monday. "People that don’t understand football can say this."

Leeds United couldn't be a more divided club.

Owner Andrea Radrizzani has voiced his wish to sell, and it is rumoured he has his sights set on buying Inter Milan. Prospective incoming owner 49ers Enterprises – an unknown quantity to Whites fans – is watching its investment sliding down a slippery slope.

The management team of Radrizzani, CEO Angus Kinnear and director of football Victor Orta have gone radio silent, while the fans chants of "sack the board" grow louder and more vociferous with each game.

Javi Gracia looks like he hasn't slept in weeks. His tinkering at the start of his time at Leeds has settled on a very defensive style, and has stopped working. The fans demand attacking football and only results could assuage that need.

And finally, for the first time in years, the players are seemingly divided. Verbal spats on the pitch, rumours of fights off it. Not being good enough is one thing. Looking like they aren't trying is another.

Leeds need to press the big reset button in the summer. New ownership and a new management team is needed, but only wins can unite the Whites now.

Pride in Fulham: Villa have not won any of their last 9 midweek games at home and Fulham have won all their midweek fixtures this season so expect a Fulhamish result.

Roy Hodgson has done brilliantly since returning to Crystal Palace with three successive wins moving the club well away from relegation trouble.

However, Wolves is a bit of a bogey team for Hodgson - he has lost seven encounters with them.
