  1. Sutton's predictionpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    Chelsea v Brentford (19:45 BST)

    Sutton's prediction

Frank Lampard has lost all four of his games as interim Chelsea manager. He won't be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season but he is a proud man and will be desperate to deliver a positive result this time, with talk that Mauricio Pochettino is about to take over.

Unfortunately for Lampard, I'm not sure all his players feel the same. The way some of them have conducted themselves this season makes me wonder if they really care - the Blues are five points behind Brentford in the table for a reason.

The Bees were good against Villa at the weekend after a little spell where their results had just fallen away and we know how well organised they always are.

    Prediction: 1-1

  4. 'The pressure is off Arsenal because everyone expects Man City to win'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

Man City v Arsenal (20:00 BST)

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards says the pressure is off Arsenal heading into Wednesday's game at Etihad Stadium because nobody expects them to win.

Richards believes salvaging a draw against Southampton on Friday showed the Gunners still have fight in the title race and added that Gabriel Martinelli's "frightening" pace will be key for them against Pep Guardiola's side.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily: "The Southampton game was a little bit different [to draws against Liverpool and West Ham], having not played that well and managing to score two late goals.

"Even though at the end they were all on the floor distraught, I just believe they were always going to have to go to Manchester City to win if they want to win the league.

"There were always going to be bumps in the road and for Arsenal fans. I don’t think anything has changed. It’s just going to the Etihad right now is a difficult task.

"The pressure is off Arsenal because everyone expects City to win that game. One way to play against City is on the counter-attack. I would play [Kyle] Walker in that game to stop Martinelli.

"His pace is frightening. Everyone talks about [Bukayo] Saka and [Martin] Odegaard, but nobody talks about Martinelli. On transition, he is frightening."

  5. Tonight's actionpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

We've had a piece on the website in the build-up to the game at the Etihad describing it as one of the biggest matches in the English top flight for a decade.

That being the case, we're inevitably going to be focusing a large portion of this live text commentary to it.

However, with three other games taking place - all of which get under way before the night's main event - we'll make sure all the action is covered.

Those other three games see struggling Forest take on European football-chasing Brighton, Frank Lampard looking to end his losing streak as Chelsea boss against Brentford and Liverpool testing their recent resurgence at West Ham.

    This is the situation...

Arsenal top the table. They are five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, but have a weaker goal difference and have played two more games.

With City not facing a club inside the top-flight's current top seven after tonight's game, the Gunners know that defeat hands the initiative to their rivals in a big, big way.

  7. It's up for grabs now...published at 17:58 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

Here we are then... the big one.

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta have been at pains in the build up to tonight's clash between Manchester City and Arsenal to state that the result will not decide the title.

It's "really important" but not "decisive" claimed Guardiola. When asked about the game, Arteta replied: "Will it decide the season? No."

I mean, technically they're both right. A victory in this game will not settle the title. But does anybody truly believe that losing this game won't be the decisive knock-out blow to the team that suffers it?
