  1. 'We lost too much energy'published at 22:55 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to BBC Sport: "We deserved to lose the game.

"We played the first 30 minutes very well and we could have scored more goals. We could maybe close the game and then we made a lot of mistakes.

"Then after 30 or 35 minutes we stopped playing, we lost too much energy, we lost our DNA in terms of speed, power and quality.

"I knew before the game that it would be very tough for us. We are not used to play three games in a week and we are suffering a lot of injuries. It's not an excuse but it's the reality."

On individual errors: "We could have scored more goals, I remember two or three chances in the first half and one in the second half when it was 1-1, Mitoma one on one with the keeper.

"We have to suffer because it is a tough result for us. But we have to play again in three days and we have to be ready."

On lack of options: "Yes but with this squad, we could play better today. We have too many injuries: Adam Lallana, Evan Ferguson...

"No problem with the result, we are disappointed and frustrated but we have to say congratulations to Nottingham."

  2. 'Players will be bouncing'published at 22:53 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton

    Shay Given
Former Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's such an important stage of the season and the psychological side of that win for Forest is massive.

Players will be bouncing around the training ground tomorrow. You could see they had so much belief at the end of the game.

  3. Williams taken to hospitalpublished at 22:50 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed Neco Williams has been taken to hospital.

Williams came off worst in an awful collision with team-mate Brennan Johnson at the start of the second-half.

Cooper said he wasn't entirely sure what had happened to the Wales international but he had seen a bit of blood.

  4. 'So much gratitude for the players'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, speaking to BBC Sport: "The difference it will make? We'll see. But we hope that the positivity that the game will give us we can use moving forward. We've got to make that happen.

"Respect to Brighton and the way they play, they test you tactically and, with that in mind, I've got so much gratitude for the players for really committing the plan we put in place.

"Even when we went 1-0 down we asked them to stick to the plan because we were creating chances. We missed a penalty, had a one v one and it came from the plan - and that included the defending we had to do as well.

"We were never going to get into a have a competition of passes and possession with Brighton. But in terms of creating real chances, that's what we wanted to do and that's what we did.

"It's an important win and that's the most important thing tonight: the win. But we've got to take whatever was good from the game into the next one.

"What's important is the chances you create. We've had games this year where we've had lots of possession and games we haven't -0 it hasn't guaranteed any result. For a team like us you have to go into a game thinking 'what is it going to take to win?'

"We looked really dangerous today in attack. Even when Neco [Williams] got the unfortunate bang, we was about to put the ball in the back of the net.

"I've got so much respect for Brighton and what they do but, in terms of plan v plan, I'm glad we stuck to ours and won."

On the penalties: "Even Brennan [Johnson] missing won't do him any harm. It's two extremes for them, Brennan and Morgan [Gibbs-White]. They'll be better for them moments, standing up and being counted.

"When I saw the handball on the screen, the first thing I thought about was Harry Maguire the other week and what might have been. It was identical. I don't know why I was thinking about that, I am probably still frustrated."

On Neco Williams: "We've got our fingers crossed for him. I think he's gone somewhere else to be checked out."

  5. 'We lost energy - we played 120 minutes on Sunday'published at 22:48 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to BT Sport: "We deserved to lose the game, congratulations to Nottingham.

"We started started the game well, we played the first 30- minutes very and we could have scored more goals. Then we lost energy and we lost the game.

"It was a possibility to lose energy, to lose speed and power. We are sorry for the result but it's normal because we played 120 minutes on Sunday.

"We played a very tough game a few days ago, 120 minutes and we spent a lot of energy and mental energy and today we suffered in the second half, especially, but the last 10 minutes of the first half was the same.

"We are frustrated with the result but I am proud of my players always. It is a very tough moment for us, we are playing a lot of games and we can't change a lot of players. We have a lot of injuries but I don't want to find excuses. I want to be honest. We deserved to lose but I am still proud of my players.

"We are not used to playing every three days. We have some important players injured but we have to play and we have to find energy because we deserve to fight until the end of the season for a European position."

  6. 'A fair win'published at 22:45 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Chelsea 0-2 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to BT Sport: "There is a nice atmosphere in the dressing room. Football is a fantastic game, the last six I think we performed very well but didn't get what we deserved. Today was perhaps too deflections going our way. Sometimes that is the margins of football and that said I think it was a fair win.

"It is not a coincidence we scored on a corner. I think everyone knows we work hard on them.

"It is very impressive from the team and players and the club that we are into the second season of the Premier League and adding layers. To be in a better position in the Premier League this season you cannot take for granted. It takes a lot of work."

  7. 'Everything is going against us'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Chelsea 0-2 Brentford

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, speaking to BT Sport: "A difficult one. I feel for the players a bit. In terms of the game we controlled it possession wise. Brentford are good at what they do. The details of the game are pretty clear, we are lacking the belief at the top end of the pitch today, because we were there a lot. So you lose the game.

"This is not a sob story but everything is going against us. That game was a clear one because even though we didn't create big chances we were always control.

"It is a really difficult run in. Some players came in today and did alright so maybe it is time to see them a bit more. At the moment I can't complain about the application of the squad.

"In a moment where we are at, we played very well with a back three against Real Madrid. The fear is can you create enough and in a confident moment and more dynamic at the top of the pitch it is maybe a game we win.

"This club has been through many, many good moments in recent times and this moment is tough. We would love a magic wand and a magic moment but it doesn't come in football because the Premier League is tough. We have to fight for our moment.

"It is the same story, keep going and keep working. This isn't an easy moment in the season when a club is used to winning a lot but those aims and goals are not there."

  8. 'We had to go a bit longer'published at 22:40 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Manchester City

City goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne to BT Sport: "When they played man to man we had to go a bit longer because there was no place for short passes. The first half was really good.

"We could have scored more. The second half was 50-50 but we didn’t give much away. They’re a class team and hard to play against. We had to be at our best today – and we were."

On Erling Haaland setting him up: "I think we set up a bit differently, instead of two number eights I had the freedom to go left or right depending on where the space was."

On the title: "It’s too long. We know what people will say. It’s so hard. A lot of things can happen. There are still seven games left – and we’re still behind them [in the table]. People say we will win the title. We won’t give in until it’s mathematical. Our schedule is hectic."

  9. Done and dusted?published at 22:38 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

Before this game, the Opta Season Predictor gave Man City a 79% chance of winning the Premier League title, and Arsenal a 21% chance.

Following City's 4-1 win, they now have a 92% chance of winning the league, compared to just 8% now for the Gunners.

  10. 'City looked like champions'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal from the outset didn't have any answers to how City were set up. They looked a bit lost in the first half as City played through the thirds and stuck to the game plan.

Arteta has been outstanding all season but it didn't work for him tonight. City played like the champions tonight.

  11. 'It's not over'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Shay Given
Former Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

You'd say City have got the tougher run in so it's not over yet. Fulham away is next and that's not easy, they have to travel to Everton and face Brighton and Brentford away at the end of the season - they are tough games.

  12. 'We played really well'published at 22:30 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Manchester City

City goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne to BBC Sport: "I think it’s a big game. It’s always important to win this game. A lot of people will say about the title but in our mind we had to perform well and we did. We still have seven games to play so there’s a lot going on.

"We are in the end part of the season so we know every game is must win. If we lost today it would be very hard. We played really well."

On the crowd: "The last years have been changing a lot. The atmosphere is unbelievable. People always say about our crowd but they help to push us forward. If you see 50,000 people jumping with their back to the field it will do something to the opposition.

"I don’t think the teams went over the limit. Sometimes it will be fiery but there was a lot at stake.

"In one way it’s easy for us with the schedule we have. It’s impossible to know what will happen in a couple of weeks. It's tough enough to be 100% in every game – we had Munich away, then London for Sheffield. The last five or six weeks it’s every three days. It’s much easier that way than if you just play every weekend."

This season feels disappointing for Arsenal but Man City are a beast of a team... maybe a season too early, but will there be a better chance than this?

  14. 'We didn’t play the football we normally do'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Manchester City

City goalscorer John Stones to BT Sport: "I wouldn’t say total control. We have to give them respect and credit.

"We didn’t play the football we normally do. We had man to man pressure and it was very difficult to play our usual passes. The desire and how clinical we were, we could have had a few more. I’m made up with the three points."

On whether their experience gives them an edge: "We’ve been through tough moments and situatuons. It’s done us so well. We know how to cope in certain scenarios.

"Everyone has been there and has that hunger. Days like today with a lot of pressure on the outside, we know our jobs and it’s about us going out there and doing it. Those situations help in big pressure moments."

Prince: Now that this Man City game and all the pressure is off, can Arsenal go back to play how they’ve played all season?

Eddierocksteady: Arsenal were always going to lose to this City juggernaut - but everyone knows exactly where this title race was lost: the three "easy" games previous. "Costly" is an understatement.

  16. 'It's so difficult'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Robert Huth
Former Leicester defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think today Arsenal have to hold their hands up and say City were too good. Sometimes that's how it is.

City have got the talent of sucking teams out and then punishing you. You think how can it be so open? But on the pitch it's so difficult.

  17. 'Arsenal didn't help themselves'published at 22:19 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

    Shay Given
Former Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Maybe Arsenal didn't respect City enough. It was 2-0 at half time but it could have been four or five. They were so open and it was chance after chance.

    Arsenal didn't help themselves.

  18. Matching their own unwanted recordpublished at 22:15 British Summer Time 26 April 2023

    FT: Man City 4-1 Arsenal

Arsenal are the first side to go four consecutive Premier League games winless (D3 L1) while starting the day top for each match since Arsenal themselves in March 2008, drawing four in a row in a season they went on to finish 3rd at the end of the campaign.

The Gunners are also the first side to concede two or more goals in four consecutive top-flight matches in which they started the day top for each match since Manchester United in December 1966. Only Leeds (19) have conceded more Premier League goals in April than Arsenal (12). They’ve only conceded more Premier League goals in a single month in December 2018 (14).

Frank Lampard is not the biggest problem - having a team of stars on the bench means substitutes at half time. No chance to get any cohesion or rhythm. Just a mess.

    FT: Chelsea 0-2 Brentford

    Chelsea

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, speaking to Premier League Productions: "The boys are really trying. We are working hard in training, the application is there. It is just a difficult moment for us in front of goal. I can't really give an explanation.

"Everyone is feeling it. All we can do is keep going every day, working hard in training and try and do our best."
