    Carlisle 0-0 Grimsby

Carlisle United are League Two's highest scorers with 54 goals.

Their form has been varied since the turn of the year but they find themselves in third place, just two points behind second-placed Stevenage.

They dismantled Crawley Town 5-2 in their last outing after being four goals up before half-time. The promotion push is very much alive for them.

They host 16th-placed FA Cup giantkillers Grimsby, who beat Premier League strugglers Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's on Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in 84 years.

Both teams are coming into this fixture with new confidence - but for Carlisle it's an opportunity to strenghten their promotion push.

  15. Squad Goals' League One game of the daypublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2023

    Bristol Rovers 0-0 Barnsley

    Presenter, Squad Goals

Barnsley’s brilliant form continues - six wins from seven for Michael Duff’s side shows they’re coming to form at the near-perfect time.

They didn’t get it all their own way in their 4-1 win over Derby County though, they perhaps owed as much to inept defending and poor finishing from the Rams to give a more flattering scoreline.

But that hasn’t been the case in any of their other brilliant wins - they’re averaging four goals a game in their last four.

Adam Phillips is looking clinical with three in three and Devante Cole’s return to goals with a double after going 11 without scoring is another positive sign.

Rovers’ bulldozing of Oxford United was enough for U's to dispense with Karl Robinson. That 3-0 win also gave Barton a bit of breathing space after coming into last week’s game with no wins in seven.

The Mem hasn’t seen a home win since new year’s day. Keeping Aaron Collins in the goals will be key for Barton, he has 15 goals and 10 assists and scored against Oxford - but that was only his third of the year.

The form book says another win for Duff’s side, let’s see if Barton’s Pirates can see off the boys from Barnsley.

    Millwall v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Mahon
    Squad Goals

We’re into the final quarter of the season in the Championship and there are just two points separating Millwall and Norwich in fifth and seventh as the battle to be in the play-offs is starting to hot up.

Millwall, who have never won promotion to the Premier League, are currently in fifth with Gary Rowett’s side unbeaten in their past four games, a run which has included matches against high-flyers Burnley and Sheffield United.

For most of the season, unbelievably, it looked like we’d have a year when neither Fulham nor Norwich would be promoted or relegated. But since David Wagner took over at the start of the year the Canaries have been looking much better with five wins in their eight league matches since the ex-Huddersfield manager took over.

Teemu Pukki is on course to make his 200th appearance for Norwich today. He’s already won two Championship titles since arriving on a free transfer in 2018, although it is unclear how many more games he’ll have for the club given his current contract runs out this summer.

Could the Finn finish his time in Norfolk scoring the goals needed to secure Norwich another promotion? Equally Zian Flemming has been doing well for Millwall recently so there is every chance alliteration fans will get to see the flying Flemming frustrating the finishing Finn’s finale!

Fresh from their FA Cup heroics in midweek against Premier League Southampton, Grimsby have to get their minds back on league matters this afternoon as they face a tough away game at third-placed Carlisle.

Leyton Orient are showing no signs of nerves as we approach the business end of the season. They have led the way for the vast majority of the season and are unbeaten in six as they prepare to face Swindon, who are looking to make it three wins in a row and push themselves closer to the playoff spots.

Stevenage are eleven points back in second with Steve Evans' men picking up a first win in six in midweek. They will be confident of putting that poor run firmly behind them with victory over bottom-of-the-table Rochdale.

A couple of other top versus bottom contests sees fourth-placed Northampton head to Crawley, who have lost their last four, and Bradford host Colchester.

Stockport are looking to get back to winning ways against Doncaster after their five-game winning run came to an end last week at Barrow, and Sutton are hoping to make it four wins in a row in their fixture against draw specialists Crewe.

Another team who can't seem to stop drawing is Walsall, who have shared the points in seven of their last eight league games, including each of the last six. The last side to draw seven straight games in the fourth tier was Bournemouth in August 2002.

Sheffield Wednesday players celebratingImage source, Rex Features

Leaders Sheffield Wednesday head into today's game against Peterborough unbeaten in 20 league matches - winning nine of their last 10.

Their last defeat came all the way back on 4 October at Plymouth who are three points behind them and their nearest challengers in second. The Pilgrims will look to arrest a mini-slump in form with a win against Charlton this afternoon.

Ipswich - unbeaten in nine home games - head the chasing pack and face a resurgent Burton side have won as many points in their last six league games as they did in their previous 12.

Fifth-placed Derby host Shrewsbury and in-form Barnsley are looking to make it seven wins in their last eight on their travels to the West Country to face Joey Barton's Bristol Rovers.

Oxford head to Lincoln a week after sacking head coach Karl Robinson - who had been in charge since March 2018 - after picking up just one point from eight games in a run which has seen them sink dangerously towards the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Duncan Ferguson is still looking for his first win as Forest Green manager having been in charge for six games. Rovers sit bottom of the pile and will look to pick up their first league win since December when they take on fellow strugglers Accrington.

  20. Elsewhere in the Championship...published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2023

Also in the Championship today, Slaven Bilic's Watford will be looking to stay in close contact with the play-off spots when they host Preston North End.

Four draws in their past seven matches - a run that has yielded just one win - has seen them slip out of the top six.

Preston, who have kept a division-high eight clean sheets away from home this season, promise to be a stubborn proposition today.

It is a second game in charge of QPR for Gareth Ainsworth. There was a false start with a home defeat to Blackburn last Saturday but Ainsworth will hope to get up and running away at Rotherham.

The Hoops have not won since 17 December and the Millers could leapfrog them with a win and would dump the new Loftus Road boss into a relegation scrap.
