Blackburn could do with a win today to shore up their play-off aspirations in the Championship.

Ryan Hedges sends a ball into the Birmingham box as Rovers attack but Sam Gallagher's follow-up header doesn't trouble Blues keeper John Ruddy.

From their first attack! It's been all Coventry but the referee plays a good advantage for a foul on Nick Powell as the Potters pile forward, Tyrese Campbell slots a low ball across the face of goal and Jacob Brown pops up at the back post to convert his sixth league goal of the campaign.

Stoke are four games unbeaten but haven't beaten Coventry since April 2008.

  7. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Huddersfield 0-0 Middlesbrough

Nearly the ideal start for Huddersfield as forward Josh Koroma sees an effort cleared off the line.

Darragh Lenihan is the man in the right place to hook the forward's shot away for Boro.

With 21st-placed Cardiff already losing an early goal for Town could give them a huge boost.

  8. Can Cardiff change the record?published at 15:08 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Cardiff 0-1 Swansea

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

Swansea City have been history-makers in their recent meetings with Cardiff City.

There were two victories last season - 3-0 in Swansea and 4-0 on this ground - as Russell Martin's side became the first in the long history of the fixture to secure a league double over their rivals.

They aim to repeat the feat today after a 2-0 home win last October - which saw Swansea break new ground once again, as the first side to win three successive league south Wales derbies.

Cardiff desperately need to change the record today as they look to pull clear of relegation danger - but have started in desperate fashion.

Joel Piroe, Swansea's leading scorer, was given far too much space to turn and fire the visitors ahead.

It's possibly a historic day for Swansea as they are going for their fourth south Wales derby win in a row.

Swansea boss Russell Martin is also coming up against his fourth different Cardiff City manager since he started.

    Joel Piroe (3 mins)

Like we said, the form-book goes out of the window in a derby game... it has taken the visitors just three minutes to open the scoring at the CCS, Joel Piroe gets on the end of a long throw, cuts in from the flank and lashes a near-post strike high into the net for his 14th Championship goal of the season.

What a start for the Swans.

  13. Squad Goals' League Two game of the daypublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Northampton 0-0 Stevenage

    Calvin Andrew
Ex-Rochdale, Mansfield and Port Vale forward on Squad Goals

This game sells itself as second host third. Only two points separate the pair and Stevenage have a game in hand but have struggled for consistency since the start of the year.

Drawing with Carlisle and losing to Salford in their last two means Stevenage boss Steve Evans will be looking for a response. They can put any doubts to bed with a win at a promotion rival.

Northampton have been my favourite team to watch this season. They’re free-scoring and well organised and Jon Brady’s side came into this off the back of three wins.

That helped them cut a big gap to Orient at the top to just five points. The title race and, perhaps more importantly, promotion, has never been more under the spotlight so far than today.

  14. League Two updatepublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    FT: Bradford 3-2 Grimsby

Big, big, BIG win for promotion hopefuls Bradford City.

They led early in this before trailing 2-1 at the break.

However, goals from Jamie Walker and the division's top scorer Andy Cook saw them turn it around and keep their hopes of a top-three finish alive.

  15. Squad Goals' League One game of the daypublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Derby 0-0 Ipswich

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

The home side need to restore the pride in Pride Park. The Rams have managed just four points in their last five games, and it really isn’t the time to be having a blip.

As it stands Paul Warne's side are hanging on to that final play-off spot. But if this form continues then those promotion prospects could soon wither away.

The opposition on the other hand are in red hot form. Ipswich come into this League One fixture off the back of six wins on the spin.

Kieran McKenna's side have been scoring freely but its their impressive defensive performances that have laid the foundations for their recent form. The Tractor Boys haven’t conceded in their past seven games.

Its sixth vs third and on recent form this should be a foregone conclusion. But can the Rams stop the league's in-form side?

  16. Squad Goals' Championship game of the daypublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

    Norwich City 0-0 Sheffield United

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    Presenter, Squad Goals

Some Norwich fans may be wanting another season to consolidate in the EFL before going back to the Premier League.

At this rate they may get their wish. No wins in three in the Championship has left the definitive ‘yo-yo club’ potentially missing their biannual bounce back to the big time, as they sit in seventh.

They’ve been goal-shy in two of those three, but still have the firepower of Teemu Pukki and Josh Sergent to rely on at Carrow Road, they have 22 between them.

Sheffield United, in second place, trail leaders Burnley by 14 points but have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to after beating Blackburn Rovers last time out in the cup.

Top scorer Oli McBurnie got back in the goals in that one. He has 13 but had previously gone six games without finding the mark.

Norwich’s home form has been troubling this season - a win for David Wagner against Paul Heckingbottom’s side, could kick-start their season at just the right time.

There are plenty of big games to get our teeth into in the fourth tier this afternoon with teams aiming for promotion facing each other.

Leyton Orient have been the leaders of the pack pretty much all season but have drawn their last four games and today come up against a Carlisle side who can go within five points of the Londoners with victory.

There's also a battle of second v third as in-form Northampton host Stevenage. Northampton have lost just once in their last 12 and have won their last three without conceding.

Down at the bottom, Hartlepool and Rochdale are in desperate need of points and are up against Swindon and AFC Wimbledon respectively this afternoon.

    • AFC Wimbledon v Rochdale
    • Barrow v Gillingham
    • Colchester United v Newport County
    • Doncaster Rovers v Crewe Alexandra
    • Hartlepool United v Swindon Town

All games kick off at 15:00 BST

In-form Ipswich are looking to make it seven league wins in a row for the first time since 1989 when they face fellow playoff-chasers Derby this afternoon.

Kieran McKenna's Tractor Boys are in third but are reeling in Sheffield Wednesday in the automatic promotion spots. In contrast, the Rams are are in a sticky patch and are trying to avoid a third straight loss which could see them slip out of the top six.

The Owls are another team having a wobble at the wrong time with no wins in their last four. They are looking to get back on track today at home to mid-table Lincoln.

Also in the playoff shake-up are Barnsley and Peterborough who will be confident of picking up three points against teams flirting with relegation.

Elsewhere, Forest Green finally won a league game after 17 attempts last weekend but face a tough task making it two on the bounce as they head to Pompey.

    • Barnsley v Morecambe
    • Charlton Athletic v Shrewsbury Town
    • Cheltenham Town v Burton Albion
    • Derby County v Ipswich Town
    • Fleetwood Town v Exeter City
    • Peterborough United v Oxford United
    • Port Vale v Cambridge United
    • Portsmouth v Forest Green Rovers
    • Sheffield Wednesday v Lincoln City
    • Wycombe Wanderers v Milton Keynes Dons

  20. Tigers look to put on show for bumper crowdpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 April 2023

Hull City v Rotherham (15:00 BST)

A ticket promotion means today's game will be played out in front of Hull City's biggest home crowd since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2017.

The Tigers will hope to put on an impressive display for those in attendance and end a run of three games without victory.

Rotherham, who saw their last game before the international break abandoned after 48 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch, start the day four points above the relegation zone.
