    Sheffield United 0-0 Preston

You'd forgive Blades fans for being a little subdued today having blown the roof off Bramall Lane on Wednesday night as they secured their return to the Premier League.

Preston could yet make the play-offs and it's they who have the first sniff of goal with a Josh Onomah shot from 20-yards straight at the goalkeeper.

Oxford are ahead against Forest Green, with Kyle Joseph sending them ahead against the already-relegated side.

That goal could have implications on the relegation fight at the bottom of League One, with Accrington and Morecambe both possibly needing to better their result today if they are to survive.

Sheffield Wednesday have taken the lead against Shrewsbury via Michael Smith.

The Owls need to win and hope results go their way elsewhere if they are to have any chance of making a late push for automatic promotion from League One.

That result won't do a great amount for Wednesday if Ipswich win...and the Tractor Boys have taken the lead just moments later against Exeter thanks to Conor Chaplin.

Femi Azeez, Mamadi Camara and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan all dropped out of the Royals XI.

McIntryre has already made an impact, testing Wigan keeper Jamie Jones with a curling effort.

Meanwhile, Charlie Hughes is back in the away defence and he's gone close with a long-range strike.

Not sure Ipswich fans will share that sentiment. What about Plymouth fans though? They must have mixed feelings today as Exeter could do them a favour.

  15. Squad Goals' League Two game of the daypublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Carlisle 0-0 Salford

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

Carlisle fans will be in fine voice trying to get behind their boys today at Brunton Park.

Paul Simpson has done a tremendous job at Carlisle since coming in last season, so much so that he was nominated as manager of the year at the EFL awards.

They are unbeaten in their past five games and will be full of confidence, buoyed by a 1-0 win last weekend at Barrow in a bit of a local affair.

The Ammies start in sixth, three points behind their hosts. A crazy late turnaround last weekend at Walsall saw them grab all three points, with my old team-mate Matty Lund grabbing the headlines.

Could this be Salford’s season? Mansfield and Bradford on the same points as them will probably be thinking the same too.

  16. Squad Goals' League One game of the daypublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Ipswich 0-0 Exeter

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    BBC Squad Goals presenter

What a time to be a Tractor Boy! Ipswich are 18 unbeaten in League One and a run of 12 wins from 13 means they're just three points from promotion.

Portman Road has been something else this season. It'll be another sell-out today as an expectant crowd wait to see in Conor Chaplin can find a 28th of the season to fire them into the Championship.

Captain Sam Morsy's consistency has also been key for Town but there's quality all over the park to the point where 5,000 fans went to see them put three past Barnsley in midweek.

A win is all they need and, of course, there'll be eyes on Plymouth hosting Burton. as far as the title chase is concerned.

The away side have little to play for and five defeats in a row could suggest Gary Caldwell's side have taken their foot off the gas a little.

When you look at their opponents though, they've have faced six of the top seven after today and have battled throughout.

I'm not expecting them to do any better than their 2-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday last week but I wouldn't rule out a twist or a turn on the way.

  17. Squad Goals' Championship game of the daypublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Reading 0-0 Wigan

    Michael Redford
    BBC Squad Goals

After Blackpool were relegated last night, all eyes now turn to who will join them in League One.

Reading only just dodged finishing in the bottom three last season and now they’re running out of time to make sure they achieve that feat again. Pointing to a six-point deduction is fair enough, but they’ve not helped themselves on the pitch either.

The Royals are without a win in 11 matches and have won just twice in the league since the turn of the year; a run of results that led to Paul Ince losing his job. Now it’s up to interim manager and fans' favourite Noel Hunt to try and save the day. A huge task lies ahead.

Especially against a Wigan side that are refusing to go quietly.

They’ve won their past two matches and have won three matches in April – that’s more than they won in November, December, January, February and March combined. Still four points from safety with two games to go though means they have to keep winning and that starts today. Anything less and an immediate return to League One will be confirmed.

Make no mistake about it, this game is huge for both teams.

Preston North End are another side who've seen their play-off bid falter, and will need to end their three-match winless run at second-placed Sheffield United, who will be in celebratory mode after clinching promotion in midweek.

Swansea City are the division's form side, with six wins in seven, but their top-six charge has probably come too late as they travel to Hull City.

At the other end, Queens Park Rangers have almost secured their place in the Championship for next season - and victory at Stoke City will be enough for Gareth Ainsworth's R's to achieve that goal.

Champions Burnley, who wrapped up the title by beating local rivals Blackburn on Tuesday, travel to mid-table Bristol City.
