Arsenal have avoided defeat in their last 32 matches when scoring the opening goal in the Women's Super League dating back to 13 December, 2020 against Manchester City (lost 2-1).

Blackstenius has now scored five goals in the league this season, more than any other Arsenal player.

Brighton need to keep their discipline. It's about knowing when to go and when to stay.

Arsenal have the ball in the net and Leah Williamson thinks she has got her first WSL goal of the season and opened the scoring.

The England captain tapped in from close range but she's offside.

So close to a Chelsea goal. Johanna Rytting Kaneryd shoots at goal but it is excellent defending from the visitors, who clear the ball off the line.

Sam Kerr has six goals in the WSL this season and tries to make it seven with the first chance of the match at Kingsmeadow but can't keep her effort down from the edge of the penalty area.

Missy Bo Kearns has Liverpool's first shot of the match, but it's a weak effort from 20 yards out and it's easily dealt with by Manuela Zinsberger.

Arsenal continue to press, looking for the first goal. Caitlin Foord tries to go around the outside, gets to the byeline but the angle is too narrow and she can only send her cross into the side netting.

Both Chelsea and Brighton are looking for reactions. It's imperative both teams get a result tonight. There's plenty on the line at the top and bottom of the table. We could see a cagey opening.

Liverpool make their first move into the Arsenal box but the move comes to nothing as there is no-one on the end of Katie Stengel's pass.

At the other end another chance for Stina Blackstenius, she gets the ball on her right foot and curls at goal from the edge of the penalty area, but it's just wide.

England captain Leah Williamson sends a fine long ball through into the path of the dangerous Stina Blackstenius, but Liverpool smuggle it behind for a corner.

Katie McCabe swings in the delivery from the right and it finds the head of Blackstenius but she can't keep the header down. But at the moment it looks a matter of time before the hosts take the lead.

Team-mate Guro Reiten has assisted nine WSL goals this season. She is looking to become the third Blues player to register 10+ assists in a campaign, along with Karen Carney in 2016-17 (10) and Fran Kirby in 2020-21 (12).
