A clinical finish. Robinson tries to get his tackle in, but how good is the finish? Under pressure, hard and low, far corner.

    Sammie Szmodics

Sammie Szmodics gives Blackburn the lead again!

Sheffield United struggle to clear and Sam Gallagher gets on the ball, spots Szmodics making a great run and slips a ball through to send the midfielder clear and he drives a fine low effort into the far corner.

A poor back pass by Lewis Travis and suddenly James McAtee is in. The midfielder has the whole goal to shoot at but again he puts it too close to Aynsley Pears.

Sheffield United are finding a lot of space to break forward in midfield but Blackburn are keeping their defensive shape well to stop them getting into areas they could do damage.

Alan (12:44 GMT), if you want offside to be judged using feet alone, you're asking for heads and chests being made a foul as well. If a part of the body that can legally touch the ball is offside then the player is as well!

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Blackburn

    Superb goalkeeping by Wes Foderingham!

Harry Pickering hits a low shot through a crowd of players, Foderingham sees it later but pushes away. Ben Brereton is onto the loose ball and looks certain to restore his side's lead but Foderingham gets up quickly to make another excellent save.

Somehow, the tempo feels to have gone up a level from the first half.

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Blackburn

James McAtee now tees up George Baldock, whose first-time shot flies into the sidenetting. Some Sheffield United supporters thought that was in.

Great start to the second half by the home side.

    Sheff Utd 1-1 Blackburn

Wonderful move by Sheffield United. Sharp, one-touch passing by Iliman Ndiaye and Max Lowe to get into the Blackburn box, Lowe feeds James McAtee who is yards out but his first touch is poor and the chance is gone.

Steve McGarry: Why don't they show the VAR decisions on the big screen at games? Fans in the ground get a worse view than those at home. It's ridiculous. We need to be kept in the loop.

  13. Magic McAteepublished at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

    HT: Sheff Utd 1-1 Blackburn

In the first half, James McAtee had the most touches in the opposition's box (four) and most successful dribbles (three) of any player, while Tyler Morton created the most chances (three) - they are the two youngest players in each starting XI.

Came to game a bit late Mr Rose. Could you explain why VAR is at a Championship ground?

    Ste, Widnes

VAR is licensed for use in the FA Cup from the quarter-finals onwards, something I imagine Sheffield United aren't particularly chuffed about right now.

    A close game, tight game.

A cool penalty from Brereton Diaz, but Sheffield United have done okay in response with that heavily deflected goal.

    A very exciting cup tie.

So the ball is blasted at a player and hits their arm. Penalty? Is it no longer hand to ball? VAR is so far beyond its initial remit that it's ruining football.

    Dav, London

Two solutions to two issues that are blighting football... 1. accidental handball in the box and 2. offside: 1. Forget "unnatural positions" and just judge it on advantage. If the handball is to the advantage of the defender/disadvantage of the attacker then it's a pen. Simple! 2. It's called football so just use the feet to rule on offside. Forget every other part of of the body. Simple to judge and applies equally to everybody.

Sheffield United have not found their rhythm in the last few moments.

It has got scrappy again; they are trying to get control but Blackburn aren't letting them.
