It could just be a ploy to rest [Manuela Zinsberger]. Sabrina D'Angelo is good with her feet.

Jonas Eidevall will know that Man City will want to press high, so decision making will be key for her. She may have to play long on occasion, not always out of the back.

Since it's such a big day, why not get in touch with us and let us know how you think the season is going to play out.

Who will be lifting that trophy come the end of the season? Who will be facing the drop? And who is going to miss out on that much coveted Champions League spot?

It seems ridiculous that one of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal will miss out on a spot in Europe, who will it be?

This team have delivered time and time again. Back into a semi-final, and they've done it without Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead.

Lots of players have stepped up, Caitlin Foord, Frida Maanum have been influential. Leah Williamson is showing her versatility stepping into midfield as well.

It's going to be an exciting semi-final [Champions League] to look forward to.

It feels like Manchester City have just quietly gone about their business and are now in a position to be seriously contending for this title. They'll be massively boosted after that 2-0 win against Chelsea last time out.

But, such is the closeness at the top of the league, results could either put any of the top four sides in title contention or see them slip out of the Champions League places all together.

Closest title race ever? I think so.

  8. City reliant on one goal scorer?published at 12:20 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

Arsenal v Man City (12:30 BST)

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall actually said earlier this week that his team were not reliant on one particular goal scorer, using Manchester City and Bunny Shaw as an example of a team who are.

City boss Gareth Taylor said those comments were "strange" and that his side have in fact had 13 different goal scorers this season. Although Shaw is the WSL's leading goal scorer with 15 goals.

Eidevall is without stars Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema and has had to rely on several players to step up. Frida Maanum has bagged the most WSL goals for them with six in the league.

  10. Big week for Arsenalpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

Arsenal v Man City (12:30 BST)

It's been a huge week for Arsenal. On Wednesday, they overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Bayern Munich in the Champions League to win 2-0 on the night and progress to the semi-finals, where they will meet Wolfsburg.

It's not that long since the Gunners were written off from winning trophies this season given their injury list, but now they are firmly in the hunt to win three trophies.

It's going to be a tough one for them today, will we see some tired legs? Or will they be pumped after a massive result in Europe?

    • As well as being the highest scorer in the WSL this season with 15 goals, no player's goals have been worth more points to their side than Man City's Khadija Shaw this term with those goals earning City 12 precious points
    • After failing to win any of their first three league games in 2023 - two draws, one loss - Arsenal have now won their last three in the WSL by an aggregate score of 11-1

  14. No Little a blowpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

Arsenal v Man City (12:0 BST)

So the big news there is that Kim Little is not included in Jonas Eidevall's squad after picking up an injury mid-week against Bayern Munich.

That is not what Arsenal fans will have wanted to see, captain Little has been a huge player for them this season.

No Manuela Zinsberger is also an interesting one. The goalkeeper has kept nine clean sheets this season, bettered only by Manchester United's Mary Earps with 10. Sabrina D'Angelo comes in instead.

  15. Team news - Little out for Arsenal; City unchangedpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

Arsenal v Man City (12:30 BST)

Jonas Eidevall makes two changes to the Arsenal side that beat Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League semi-finals in midweek.

Sabrina D'Angelo starts in goal with Lotte Wubben-Moy also coming into the XI.

Katie McCabe is passed fit but skipper Kim Little is out with the injury she sustained against Bayern.

Arsenal XI: D’Angelo, Maritz, Williamson, Souza, Wubben-Moy, McCabe, Walti, Pelova, Maanum, Foord, Blackstenius.

Subs: Zinsberger, Marckese, Beattie, Wienroither, Kuhl, Reid, Gio, Taylor.

Manchester City are unchanged from their 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend.

A win would put Gareth Taylor's side back level on points with WSL leaders Manchester United.

Manchester City XI: Roebuck, Morgan, Houghton, Greenwood, Aleixandri, Hasegawa, Angeldahl, Coombs, Kelly, Hemp, Shaw.

Subs: MacIver, Casparij, Fowler, Castellanos, Raso, Ouahabi, Dahou.

Let's turn our attention to today and first up we're in for a real treat with a huge clash at the top of the table.

With just six points separating the top four, the battle for the WSL title could scarcely be closer.

Arsenal and Manchester City face off at Meadow Park and victory for the hosts would take them level on points with City, but with games running out defeat could leave them with too much to do in the title race.

"It's really getting that balance right, if you're winning or losing," Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall said.

"You can have a day to sulk, you can have a day to celebrate, but after that you have to get back to reality and there is work to be done. We have been doing that very well and we need to continue to do that very well."

  17. What happened yesterday?published at 12:04 British Summer Time 2 April 2023

    Brighton 0-4 Man Utd

Just one WSL match took place yesterday and league-leaders Manchester United headed down to Brighton with a chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Leah Galton scored twice and Lucia Garcia and Rachel Williams added second-half goals to secure a 4-0 thumping over struggling Brighton and put United three points clear at the top before today's action.

I imagine Marc Skinner and the players just sitting back and relaxing with a bowl of popcorn today after a job well done yesterday.

Manchester City could draw level with their city rivals on points with a win but whatever happens United will finish the weekend at the top of the table because of their superior goal difference.
