Serge: Great performance by City, but you'll see no celebrating from City fans yet. In fact your average City fan wouldn't claim victory even at 5-0 up with 2 mins to go in the second leg.
Steve: Wonderful from City, so proud.
FT: Benfica 0-2 Inter Milan
Michael Oliver has awarded four penalties in six Champions League games this season, no referee has awarded more.

In addition to his goal and assist, Bernardo Silva made eight tackles against Bayern Munich tonight. No player has achieved the same tally in a Champions League knockout game in the last three seasons.
An all-action performance from the Portugal international, and Pep Guardiola said this about him in his post-match press conference:
"I’ve been lucky to coach some very good players for Barca and Bayern. He’s one of the best players I ever trained in my life, ever, he’s something special as a football player."

Alan: Certainly the best display from City in the CL for many years. Too early to say they will win it especially with Napoli and Madrid around, but they have a great chance if Pep can be persuaded not to tinker.
Anon: Similar performance to that of Arsenal, where we allowed them the ball and defended passing lanes and force counter attacks. I like it!
Anon: As a kid growing up I used to be in awe watching Barca hoping we would play like them some day, but this is better! Unbelievable stuff!

Eight of Bernardo Silva's 10 UEFA Champions League goals for Man City have come in the knockout stages of the competition, including each of the last seven in a row.
A player for the big occasions.

Paul: I wonder what Nagelsmann is thinking right now. He got sacked from bayern despite winning 6 out of 6 against Barca, inter and PSG while not conceding a goal. They replace him with tuchel then promptly lose 3-0 away. yeh City are a good side but no excuse for Bayern
Anon: This being my first time to watch Bayern, I was looking forward to see the hype around Kimmich, Musiala, & Davies. I saw very poor performances
FT: Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich
Man City's 25-match unbeaten streak at home in the Champions League is the longest run by any English side in the competition's history. The Blues have won 23 and drawn two of the last quarter-century of Champions League fixtures at the Etihad Stadium.

More from Thomas Tuchel: "I tried to not allow my players to focus on the result. It does not tell the story of this match. That will be the challenge to focus on the things we did good.
"We played with personality and courage. We did not get the reward we deserved for the effort."
FT: Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to Prime Video: "I think we deserved at least one goal and gave away one or two too many. I think our players were lacking a bit in confidence and form.
"Of course, the result is bitter for us. I fell in love with my team a little today, the way they performed. Even if sounds strange, that was a lot of fun."

Manchester City
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BT Sport: "When you are there you realise how good Bayern Munich are as a team. It was a tight game for 60 minutes. In a lot of moments they were better than us but after 65 minutes we got the second goal and that helped us a lot. We made some changes. With the ball we were better and I am happy for the result.
"I lived in Munich for two years, I know the mentality and quality they have. Still a strong game to do.
"We were aggressive, the second goal was for that. We did it, how they defended the back four today was amazing. Looking at their bench, there was always a threat, it is really, really good but there is the second leg to play."
FT: Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich
John Stones talking to BT Sport: "It is a big learning curve for me [playing in midfield] in terms of positioning. It doesn't come natural and I am learning all the time.
"I am trying to express myself, getting on the ball. The manager wouldn't expect me to do it if he didn't believe I could do it.
"We always felt comfortable, even 70-80 minutes into the game, it is about being calm and trusting in the process."

Anon: I sense a treble coming City’s way.
Ben: No-one talking about it yet, but think the Treble is well and truly on for City now.

City only have one way to play, which is on the front foot, wanting to play high, and I don't know how Bayern are going to deal with it at home. I can't see with the quality City have Pep allowing them to drop their guard with a three-goal advantage.

It is really difficult [to choose a standout player] because everyone was outstanding. What is really interesting is when a lot of this was going City's way, Kevin de Bruyne wasn't on the pitch.
Alvarez made an impact. he's always a willing runner. An all-out team performance. Everyone was brilliant.

Manchester City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC: "It really was a good Champions League game, and top teams. During 55, 60 minutes it was a tight game.
"We found an incredible goal from Rodri but we could not control the pockets, with Musiala and Gnabry. The first five, 10, 15 minutes of the second half they were better, they had chances. But after, we adjust something and in the last parts of the game we were better.
"It's an incredible result, but I know what it means to go to Munich and we have to do something new to not suffer so much the quality they have and we will try and do it."

I think there is no doubt that City are capable of this and we saw that tonight. I am quite surprised by what we saw from Bayern Munich. I was expecting a bit more of what we saw against PSG. It was a strange one, but I think the previous game served as a dress rehearsal for tonight.
Ultimately, City really maintained that control in the midfield. That's where Bayern Munich perhaps didn't expect to be counter-pressed and their own game played against them. Credit to City, they were absolutely outstanding.

Manchester City
Manchester City's Rodri speaking to BT Sport: "It is a great result for us but also the way the team played.
The key for me today was the defensive side, it was great, and we understood how to punish them.
"It was very special for me to score my first goal in the Champions League. At that moment we were struggling because they are a great, great team.
"Sometimes we understand we cannot have 80% possession. They play too. We scored three and could score four but it is a great reuslt.
"We don't think it is done. They are a good team and we are happy with the performance but we will have to try to win the game,"

Commanding is the right word for it. City now in control of the tie and yet another record for Erling Haaland. His 45th of the season - the highest tally that any Premier League player has managed in all competitions, beating Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Haaland's goal added that gloss which really gives Bayern Munich a mountain to climb in the second leg.
FT: Benfica 0-2 Inter Milan
Romelu Lukaku has scored 16 goals in his last 17 European appearances for Inter, including nine in his last 11 Champions League games for the Italian side.
He has scored three Champions League goals this season - as many as he has managed in Serie A.
