Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel said he was having sleepless nights before his side's Champions League meeting with Manchester City.

In 10 previous meetings, Tuchel has only beaten a side managed by Pep Guardiola on three occasions.

"The best preparation is sleep but sometimes it is hard to get that sleep when you're thinking about things," Tuchel said.

"[Yesterday] I woke up really early and I just decided to go to the training ground because I couldn't get back to sleep. I just kept thinking about the match."

There's a familiar face in the Bayern Munich dugout, with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel now in charge of the German giants.

Guardiola and Tuchel have come up against each other many times, both in England and in Germany, and were in opposite dugouts for the 2021 Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea.

Tuchel got the better of Guardiola on that occassion as Chelsea won 1-0 but the City boss insists it is not a defeat that weighs heavy his mind.

"I was sad but I congratulated him and Chelsea for the victory. It happened," Guardiola said.

"I reviewed the game a month ago and it was not as bad as I thought. It was a tight game, like they always have been against Chelsea in this period.

"We forget it and try again."
