What a difference a year makes, this time last year Chelsea were unlucky not to beat Real after a fantastic 2nd leg performance. Now less than a year later and the new owner has turned the club into a laughing stock. Troubling times.

Napoli v AC Milan (Agg 0-1, 20:00 BST)

Napoli make four changes from the first leg, including two enforced ones and one very welcome switch.

Top scorer Victor Osimhen is back in the starting line-up following a muscle injury. But defender Kim Min-jae and midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa are suspended.

Osimhen, Juan Jesus, Tanguy Ndombele and Matteo Politano replace the banned pair and benched Hirving Lozano and Elif Elmas.

Only four of tonight's team started in the weekend draw with Verona.

Napoli: Meret, Rui, Jesus, Rrahmani, Di Lorenzo, Zielinski, Lobotka, Ndombele, Kvaratskhelia, Osimhen, Politano.

Substitutes: Idasiak, Gollini, Elmas, Lozano, Olivera, Bereszynski, Ostigard, Gaetano, Raspadori.

AC Milan name the same XI who beat Napoli in the first leg last week.

Only goalkeeper Mike Maignan also started the weekend's draw with Bologna. All 10 outfield players were rested.

Milan: Maignan, Hernendez, Tomori, Kjaer, Calabria, Tonali, Krunic, Leao, Bennacer, Díaz, Giroud.

Substitutes: Mirante, Ballo-Toure, Rebic, Kalulu, Florenzi, Origi, Thiaw, Messias, Pobega, Gabbia, Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere.

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg: 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

There are a few surprises in the Chelsea starting XI. The front pair of Joao Felix and Raheem Sterling - who began the first leg - are both benched with Kai Havertz the only recognised forward picked.

Conor Gallagher is included and will likely play closest to the German.

Marc Cucurella replaces the suspended Ben Chilwell in defence, with Trevor Chalobah coming in at centre-back in place of Kalidou Koulibaly.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, James, Cucurella, Fofana, Thiago Silva, Chalobah, Kante, Kovacic, Gallagher, Fernandez, Havertz.

The root of the problem is the way Chelsea are being run. That's what's embarrassing - not the fact Marc Cucurella is a bit off colour.

AC Milan edged the first leg - although it could have been worse for Napoli.

Ismael Bennacer netted in the first half after a fine run from Brahim Diaz in the build-up in what proved to be the only goal of the game.

Milan went close to a second goal when Simon Kjaer's header bounced off the underside of the bar.

Napoli had Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa sent off after 74 minutes but Milan could not add any extra cushion at the San Siro.

Matthew: With the calibre of players available to use in this squad, how is this happening to our team? Week in week out, the performances seem to be getting worse. The only positives at Chelsea Football Club are the women's side and the academy team. The board need to pick the correct manager to take this team forward, not backwards.

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid have backed the XI that got the job done in the first leg to do so again here in London.

Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior both missed the 2-0 win at Cadiz at the weekend with minor injuries, with Carlo Ancelotti also resting a number of other key players. But the pair are fit to play at Stamford Bridge.

Nacho and Marco Asensio, who scored Real's goals at the weekend are on the bench.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Camavinga, Militao, Alaba, Valverde, Kroos, Modric, Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.

Chelsea are a laughing stock. They are the punchline to 100 different jokes. Frank Lampard's managerial career is underwhelming and somebody needs to say that. However, this isn't Frank Lampard's fault.

He's gone in to try and clear up someone else's mess. We are talking about a club that spent £600m with no coherent strategy. They've just gone out and bought a load of players because other clubs wanted them. They've gone 'we've got all this money and we're going to show off all our spending power and we're the mighty Chelsea'.

Hello! It's another huge Champions League week with the identities of the four semi-finalists to be revealed across the next two nights.

On Wednesday, Manchester City take a 3-0 lead to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan start 2-0 up against Benfica in Italy.

Tonight, Chelsea have it all to do if they are to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge, while we'll also be keeping an eye on the all-Serie A tie as AC Milan start 1-0 ahead away to Napoli.

  10. Another miracle?published at 18:29 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

Champions League second leg miracles do happen which is a good thing because Chelsea desperately need one.

The Blues will remember fighting back from 3-1 down to defeat Paris St-Germain in the quarter-finals in 2014 and overturning a 3-1 deficit against Napoli on their way to winning it in 2012.

But this is a club in a mess both on and off the pitch. And they're up against the kings of Europe.
