  1. Milan derby in the semis?published at 19:32 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Napoli v AC Milan (Agg 0-1, 20:00 BST)

AC Milan are hoping to set up a Champions League semi-final derby with Inter Milan.

Well they'd probably prefer Benfica, but Inter are the favourites to go through tomorrow after a 2-0 first-leg win in Portugal.

Milan defender Simon Kjaer said: "These matches, you never know when there will be another one.

"They are evenings that stay with you all your life, for better or for worse, but that's also why we play football - for this emotion, for this adrenaline.

"The first leg at San Siro was one of the best experiences of my career. These games give you a different feeling."

Not sure why there's criticism over Lampard's line up. He obviously has a tactic in mind and if he didn't change things everyone would be moaning he hasn't changed anything. I'm not even a Chelsea fan. But if I was, I's be thankful its only 0-2 and there's a small chance here for Chelsea.

  3. 'Chelsea's players couldn't care less what Boehly says'published at 19:29 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I know Frank Lampard has said it's okay with him for Todd Boehly to go into the dressing room but I'm not so sure he would feel that privately. As a former player, I have got an idea of what most of the players would have made of the owner coming in and having words with them. They will have been with the impression it was pretty pointless and they couldn't care less what he says.

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

According to reports,, external Chelsea's co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly went into the changing room after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Brighton and delivered a speech to the players, during which he called the club's situation "embarrassing".

Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga said: "Todd comes into the changing room after every game. He has had different chats with us over different games.

"I'm not going to say what he said but it is normal for him to come into the changing room."

Boss Frank Lampard added: "If an owner comes in and wants to be positive, wants to speak to the players, then I think it's absolutely in their power to do that. In fact, I think it shows passion and that's the first thing that I like."

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has called on his players to deliver "the complete game" as he returns to Chelsea

The European champions bring a two-goal lead to Stamford Bridge from last week's quarter-final first leg and are firm favourites to reach the semi-finals.

However, ex-Blues boss Ancelotti is urging his players to guard against complacency.

"Ninety minutes remain - and in this competition, anything can happen," he said. "We're thinking we have to have a very complete game.

"We are motivated as always as this is an important game in an amazingly important competition. We will be ready to play our best."

  6. 'It's not an attacking line-up'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The stands are starting to fill up and they will probably be asking 'where are our attacking players?' You have to look at the score line and think you're not actually in the game at the moment, you've got to get into the game.

It's not an attacking line-up when you consider who they've got on the bench. They've got attacking players on the bench so maybe he will use them late on. If it's a stalemate and there's not much going on, the fans won't get behind that.

  9. 'You can't wave a magic wand'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been speaking to BT Sport before tonight's second leg against Real Madrid.

On the team he's picked: "When I look at us at the moment, firstly you have to respect the opponent and level of game. You have to pick players who are in good shape and in good nick.

"With the wing-backs, shaping up like we were last week, that was part of the game we didn't use enough. We have the legs and energy in there."

On the lack of goals: "It's a reality of where we are. We know we want more goals as a team. You can't wave a magic wand and just tell players to start scoring more goals.

"We have to stay in the game, keep a clean sheet, then we have impact players coming off the bench.

"I said to the players before, it'll probably be a player or players coming off the bench who make the difference."

On managing Chelsea's big squad: "Being here for this period takes the long-term thing out of it. I'm not thinking about the big squad. You have to deserve to be in the team. I'm there to support players, of course, but we need to win games."

  10. 'These are the players Lampard trusts'published at 19:17 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    Asmir Begovic
Everton goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a difficult one for Frank. There's a glaring imbalance in the team. He would have wanted a striker that he doesn't have and these are obvious the players he trusts. I think he's gone with a team with a lot of energy and a lot of legs and hopefully they can outrun Real Madrid's players and create those chances. You're really looking to get off to a fast start and gain some momentum.

Chelsea have got clueless owners, an owner speaking before the Real Madrid first leg saying they are going to beat the European champions 3-0 away. It's a ludicrous statement to blurt out. They have not gone backwards - they've gone into free fall. They are the example of what happens when people new to football come in and think they are experts.

  12. Napoli wobblepublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Napoli v AC Milan (Agg 0-1, 20:00 BST)

Napoli are having a bit of a wobble at a bad time this season.

They sit 14 points top of Serie A as they look to wrap up their first title since 1990, but they have only won one of their past four games in all competitions.

In fact they have lost twice to Milan this month - 4-0 at home in Serie A on 2 April and 1-0 at the San Siro in the first leg last week.

They had only lost three games all season prior to that.

"We need to play the way we did in the first leg when we emerged with a slight disadvantage but no real remorse. In general, that performance is what I expect," said Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti.

'Uninspiring line-up'published at 19:12 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

#bbcfootball, via WhatsApp on 03301 231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply)

Nick: Instead of that line-up entering the field of play Lampard should just throw a towel onto the pitch.

Richard: So, we need to score at least two goals and Frank comes up with the most defensive line-up possible. Not one attack-minded player on the pitch. I suppose he's resting players for the relegation battles ahead!

Marc: Wow, looking at that Chelsea line-up you'd think they were two up in the tie and playing to hold the lead but... how uninspiring.

It would be a huge shock if Chelsea managed to win the game but Frank Lampard sent the message that "anything is possible" at his pre-match news conference.

Lampard is only back at the club until the end of the season and the search for their third permanent manager in 12 months is under way.

It's been reported that Julian Nagelsmann has been approached. Chelsea are conducting a wide search to try to get this appointment right and build on the project they have planned.

I have been told that there are no favourites at this stage and the club are going to speak to a number of candidates before they pick their next manager.

Fair play to Frank Lampard. Less than an hour before kick-off, and the Chelsea caretaker is on the side of the pitch being grilled by BT Sport's team at Stamford Bridge including Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Michael Owen. He's giving some honest answers to some tough questions.

  16. Landmark night for Kroospublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 2-0, 20:00 BST)

This evening's match marks Toni Kroos' 150th game in all European competitions. During that time he has won the Champions League with two separate clubs (four times at Real Madrid and once at Bayern Munich), and of course was part of the Real side that lifted the trophy in three consecutive years in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

It is so hard for Frank Lampard to go into Chelsea and save their season. It's so rotten that you cannot just expect Lampard to go in there and clear it up. Those players will be looking at him and thinking 'you will be gone in the summer'.

Chelsea v Real Madrid (Agg 0-2, 20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea supporter Faye, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I feel like the confidence is low right now. Even at the weekend some of these players just don't care, they've checked out already. Some of them are leaving in the summer so they just don't really care and you can just tell by the performance. I think tonight we'll see a little bit of passion from them but you know nothing is going to come from it. Everything is going to be disjointed and we'll only have one shot on target. Nothing basically.
